High expectations Low return
What a disappointment, i went in expecting more of Shadow Warrior 1, just a regular ass doom clone (compliment) instead i get this wannabe Monster Hunter? i like the idea of side missions to break up some of the story and add some spice to the plot, instead you get like 3 or 4 areas you keep going back and forth on killing getting an item, rinse and repeat. They added this rpg weapons system where you can get different skills and elements to weapons (ranged or melee) which is just annoying, i'm not playing an mmo, but also that goes out the window when a toxic sword mows throw every enemy in the game. Speaking of the plot, there's some major world building details that are just straight missing and it goes beyond just "visual story telling" but whatever, the plot itself is lame specially compared to the 1st one which wasn't some oscar winning script either but the characters make up for it, here lo wang is way more annoying than fun (i legit heard the same "you demons look all the same" phrase 5 times in a row + tons of unfunny jokes) and Kamiko is so annoying for over half the game, miss my man Hoji. Anyway plot, characters just come and go it feels like they just put together whatever they found for it, but most egregious is the gameplay, it gets so monotonous besides a couple boss battles the rest are just "demon/robot" or "larger demon/robot", not a lot of variety when resistances don't matter much. I'll just stop here, anyway visually great but bland game with none of the charm of the previous one with horrible looter mechanics that goes on for 2 extra hours than needed and it's only a 7 hour game, hope 3 fixes itself a bit (i'm not hearing good things tho -_-). I'll add some positive things, the music was cool (not great VA tho) and i guess the combat mechanics are not that bad but for how many guns there are on the game you really just end up using whatever you get on a mission and is stronger than your current (i didn't spend a single coin in stores)

If You Thought "Super Buddies" Was..
..the funniest movie ever, this game is for you! Let me say up front that I didn't buy this game: it appeared as a "gift" from GOG in my library. I thought it was going to be a serious ninja/martial arts game--or as serious as most martial arts games and movies tend to be. Instead, it was like strolling into a reading room paneled in fine mahogany, choosing a volume richly bound in hand-tooled leather, opening it up, and finding "Hilarious Jokes for Toilet Time." Now, let me hasten to say that the graphics, (except for people's faces which were wooden and cartoony), sound effects, controls, up-leveling, weapons & attacks-adding, skill-laddering(?), and player movement are all generally very good. It's fun looking for money and items in the game's atmospheric and prettily-detailed corners. And almost everything is destructible--the most fun I had in the first few levels/areas was going around in the mob boss's elaborately furnished mansion and slashing or breaking everything to pieces (her goons just stand there and watch), then going out to the mansion's garages and blowing up/setting everything on fire. But the over-the-top destruction of the environment was pretty much the highlight for me. The attempts at humorous dialogue were generally so bad that they were...well, really bad, distractingly bad. The plot was tissue-paper thin (not that it mattered) and the opponents didn't really make much sense: giant killer ants and crab monsters as martial arts opponents? Your armory isn’t exactly old school: if the graceful arc of your katana doesn’t vanquish enemies, you can pull out a machine pistol or .44 magnum or multi-shell shotgun to make a more modern and eloquent statement. As mentioned, the game was a gift--I didn't seek it out. And since this is Shadow Warrior 2, lots of people must have liked it. If the bad humor and general ridiculousness of the story world doesn't get in your way, go for it!
