No Fun

Both bad and boring

The writing is embarrassingly bad, from spelling and basic grammar to actual content; I assume English isn't the devs' first language, or it's even worse than I think. Every character including the protagonist is bland, derivative, and unappealing. Much like Pillars of Eternity the temptation is strong to fire all the companions and just hire a bunch of blank slate mercenaries who keep their mouths shut. I guess the game is supposed to be some kind of advertisement for original new Pathfinder classes like the Alchemist, because they're translated relatively faithfully from pen and paper or even get upgrades, whereas classes like Clerics and Wizards are stripped of many spells and abilities that make them worth playing at all. A few options, like Tower Shield Specialist Fighters and Rogues, are almost offensively underpowered compared to the alternatives. My biggest issue with Kingmaker, beyond it being relentlessly unenjoyable, is the interface and controls. Having played quite a few of these CRPGs over the years, I can confidently say that Kingmaker has the worst interface of any of them, even the proto-Mass Effect games like Knights of the Old Republic where the camera is locked behind the protagonist. It stands out especially starkly because a lot of elements in the interface are taken from old games like Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights and systematically screwed up. Overall, compared to any of the ancient classic CRPGs, you're getting much less and much worse game for your dollar here.

The game looks great, but in 2018, a game shouldnt be sold in EU without text in spanish, italian, ...

A classic. This game is perfect.

This game is perfect. Don't listen to kids that never played a single tabletop RPG in their life, saying that the game is difficult, that the resting system is bad. The resting system is perfect, the game uses almost every Pathfinder rule. Yeah, the tabletop is difficult! Want stupid and easy gameplay, go play Diablo or whatever. I'm a backer and this game lives up to its promise.

honest....

.....I only played this game for about 15 minutes, to try out of my Imac with Radeon graphics. That is how I try games....I give them 15-20 minutes to blow my mind, and if they do not, it's hasta la vista, I have no time to waste. Character development seemed interesting, but I didn't have the patience to figure much about the battles. The second battle was titled 'advanced', which was puzzling: why? I have read other reviews about the game seeming random and not very logical, and I would agree.
