After the fifth time I finally forced my way through a bug that wouldn't let me finish the game. I then IMMEDIATELY saw a screen asking me to leave a review. Why, of course.

Good potential
Have to say straight away, this game is definitely not for everyone. Lets start from prons: -Graphics -Sound -Easy and understandable gameplay -Interesting setting Cons: -Repetative -Too easy -Story not fully told I have enjoied the game, but more because of the story. In general, the gameplay as I mentioned, is way too repetative, all you can do, sneak, run, hide and shoot. Honestly, I almost never was hiding and just kept walking and shooting the enemies. Game is too easy. Yes, you do die after 3 shots, but your health does recover very fast. Unfortunately, game was not told in full and it is actually interesting to know how everything ended. Maybe in the future are going to be more DLC's. Good that i got it with sale, because in my opinion, game doesn't really worth it's full price. Have to say though, game looks very cool and I have realy liked the design of it, to be in that world, seeing the story, but not playing it. I really would like to give it 4 stars because you can see that people have really tried to make it a nice game, but unfortunately, it wasn't enough.

Great Concept, Poor Execution
I love the concept, the game is beautiful and the storyline interesting, following an at-all-costs cop, and a rebel group fighting to regain freedom and privacy, with major plot points about the dangers government and private business getting too friendly. The execution, however, is where it falls flat. Gameplay is rough at best, and often painful, enough that I had to walk away from it more than once to avoid a real ragequit. The controls left me feeling like I had to constantly reshape a piece of clay with twitch-timing in order to progress, and "upgrades" in equipment are often downgrades. Combine the bad controls with npcs that manage to ignore incoming damage from time to time (and I'm aware some of them have armor) and it's just not a fun experience. The AI driving enemy characters is about as smart as a Portal turret, "see player, shoot player", oblivious to its surroundings except where a hard surface makes shooting the target impossible. There's a "stealth" mechanic that largely consists of "hide in exactly this spot" -- or don't... the stealth is worthless except where forced. A great concept, mired in actively painful gameplay filled with gimmics that go nowhere. Recommendation: Watch a let's play, but skip purchasing

If you are in for style and message ...
you're just right here. It shows how whistleblowing and personal conviction can / could have make / made a difference. Assange, Snowden to name a few ... In my opinion this is a great try to create an understanding of processes for "gamers and the digital natives" if I should label it. Their are other channels to do it more properly but this is worth a try and done greatly. A little hole in the middle but Comic 1 and 4 only are worth the money. But to be honest I bought it for 5€. Nice price. Recommended game!!!

I hope young people would play the game
Back in the day, there was a game called Beyond Good and Evil. I was about 12 when I played it, and... It became the first source, the first piece of art, that explained to me that sometimes the official govt media may lie and why they might want to do it. Basically, that game (and not my parents, older friends, or teachers) introduced me to the idea of propaganda. I didn't fully realize it then, but now, looking back, I just can't overestimate the importance of that educational aspect that BGE brought to me. The Liberated may not be as soulful and masterfully crafted as BGE, but it could serve the same purpose for younger players. This game explains in a very streamlined manner things like propaganda, how aggressively it can be protected, how dangerous it might be to not buy into propaganda tales and fight against it. This aspect and the absolutely gorgeous comics visuals outweigh the drawbacks of the game, of which there are plenty, unfortunately. * The game likes to soft lock, either during the active gameplay or during the "reading" mode. * In the beginning, the game presents us some running mechanics that I never used after that clumsy learning section. * There's stealth, but it's mostly rudimentary and you can shoot almost everybody. There are hard sections where stealth might help, but those sections were designed to put you into direct confrontation, which is weird. * In the first chapter, the playable character does NOT look like the main character during the comics section which. This ruins the immersion in the story. The story might feel too naive and simple if you're a sophisticated player and/or an experienced book reader, but! Even if you are, you may treat it as "easy reading" literature, a sort of page-turner. Such stories are designed to entertain, so why treat them too seriously? And again, if you're a young person and haven't consumed too many games/books yet, high chances you'll enjoy this story more, as it carries a potent message.
