Game is confusing. First, despite installing in English, splashscreens and first menu are in German...you actually have to figure out how to start playing before you can change the language setting!! Trying to figure out how to organize a party and leave the tavern is unintuitive, as is trying to figure out where to get your first quest. Movement is about the only intuitive part of the game! Highly recommend reading the manual!! As for modding, well I guess you have to find the right modding community online, because you don't get a game editor either, at least not that I've been able to find yet. Three stars because you can definitely see that work was put into the game, and the graphics ARE pretty good if not still dated... Minus two because it's NOT user friendly or intuitive in the slightest, even compared with the original game! Yes it's slick, yes it's modernized...but it should be clearly marked that you're going to have to work to change the language, and that reading the manual is a MUST in order to enjoy this game. There's not even a post in the Community, other than somebody wanting a Linux version ( go figure)... The only saving graces so far is that I got this and the second one on sale. If I paid any higher I would be refunding it! I hope they remake the third, and actually make it more intuitive. Hopefully when I have time to read the manual and locate some video walkthroughs I will actually enjoy it!

Been asking for these for a long time now...the wait is over!! My introduction to rpg was these games and Wizardry, and I have been dying to play them again!! Five stars because all three games are in the collection, and well worth the price, I hit the button to buy them as soon as I saw the screen!! Less complex than Ultima, but well worth playing, especially if you are nostalgic about the classics! I'm getting ready to start playing, my only hope is that the speed issues with the emulators has been taken care of. I actually still have the blue quick setup page from Phantasie III, amazing it survived this long!! Best set Ive seen on GOG in a long time!!!

But not great either. Even with the revision, controls are hard to get used to, jumping in the tutorial is a royal pain... this could benefit from controller support, but I have yet to find it if it even has it. Graphically, it's dated but still good for it's age. Audio quality is great. If the controls were a little easier and the lighting better, I'd give it a higher rating... unfortunately even Gothic 1 is easier control, and that's saying something, as Gothic 1 is the hardest I've had to get used to! Going to have to search for mods if there's anything that gives controller support and better lighting. Otherwise, yeah...three stars because even skipping the tutorial I only managed to make it off the dock in the first mission! Tutorial was just plain PITA.

Don't know why the negative reviews, it looks great on my system, and plays like any other title of this type and year! Having fun with just the original game, haven't even tried the next one yet. Yes, there's a lot of quests, a bit of getting used to the cameras and travel, but tell me a game that DOESN'T take getting used to the controls? It's not really rocket science here! Yes I got it during the recent sale, and yes it's worth the price! People must be spoiled not having to run around fetching things or killing for drops these days. Leveling so far is easy, once you notice the different areas for points, and really if you use ranged weapons first, it's not hard once you get that healing ability, you only get chased so far before they turn around!; Heal up, and go back in!! Played about an hour or two, and having fun! The way they spawn, you can easily level up before leaving the swamp! And TBH the controls are easier than Deus Ex, even with the revision installed! What's the complaint, other than pettiness?

It's a decent game, plays like Avernum. My only issue with the graphics is, while it plays well on a modern system, the default settings give you beautiful large screens when creating characters and starting, however when the game itself starts, especially on the world map, groups and images are too tiny to make out and it's difficult to figure out if you're going to the right place or have an encounter. It takes getting used to, even if you're familiar with the Avernum series, BUT overall it's a decent game. Three stars only because by now there should have been a default setting so you could actually see everything. Yes, it's an older game, but you really shouldn't have to mess with the settings before playing it, it should default to the original, and then you can decide if you want higher settings. Common sense. Buy it on sale, full price only to support the developer. I'd love to see this remade.

Mostly a kids game. It's a fun timewaster, but... unless you like going back and forth a LOT, it gets tedious trying to complete missions, even using the map jump system. Point and click, some items are really hard to spot, like eggs, mushrooms, and seashells. You have to rest CONSTANTLY, and fighting is way too easy, you just need the right equipment and the right amount of hearts. You also need way too many copies of the same things in inventory because you lose or break items, sometimes as soon as you use them. I mean, fill a basket with fruit. Eat the fruit, and the basket disappears too? You SHOULD have an empty basket to refill... I guess the baskets are made from edibles or something 🙄 Played for about an hour, probably won't bother finishing unless I get bored...but, it's great for younger kids who don't mind wasting time. Three stars because while a decent story and children's game, it's just too much hassle and needs polishing. You also don't actually have a character avatar either, and the "big" map isn't much of an actual world to explore. It's all spot, point, click, gather, sell, buy, and sleep... and you can only eat and regain heart "energy" when you sleep...and of course you have to have the "right food" in all those rest areas... Personally I prefer the original Ultima games, or even Phantasie.

Fun game, but needs a little polishing. Could benefit from a Save Game feature, as game hangs up or crashes on occasion. Balance is off as well, even on Easy, could stand some tweaks. Features I would like to see: At least unlockable ability to add one or two more field agents A slightly longer Doomsday Clock Ability to add at least one or two more scientists to research Ability to attempt assassination of scientists and diplomats, even with repercussions. Otherwise, absolutely a great game, played three missions and getting ready to play a fourth!

It feels very unfinished and too short. Only two characters, and one unlockable. Not to mention, only female characters... Would have been a better choice to have either more characters with different issues to work through, or at the very least one female and one male, as both not only have fears and phobias, some are the same and some are very different, and so are choices where one choice can produce a very different outcome depending on male or female. Played through half a dozen times, still haven't gotten past 18 with the first character, and it IS addicting... HOWEVER, it still looks and feels more like a Beta or Demo with its limitations. I'm rating it four stars only because of the concept, and the addictive frustration every time you fail ...and I don't think everyone is giving the game a fair shake. It SHOULD be a Three Star game as it stands, and if the developers ever decide to polish it up, and add more to it, especially as there are many more fears, phobias, and psychoses to explore, as well as at least one entire gender they seem to have forgotten about...then the game will get a better review and rating. But the game doesn't deserve all the one star ratings, so hopefully this four star helps, and encourages the developers to revisit it and add more content and playability. As far as I got it on a Giveaway, I think I got more than I paid for...is it actually worth more after the giveaway? Not really...not as it is. I'd pay a couple bucks for it, as is. With more content, development, and playability, I would definitely be happy to pay more . Trust me, get this on the giveaway or a high discount!

I own the collection on the original PlayStation, plus Tempest 2000, my favorite, on PC, still playable. Yes, there's a lot of "extras", but the entire collection from the other platforms can be easily found with emulators all over the internet, along with Intellivision and other platforms. If you're a collector or a history buff, I suppose it's worth it, BUT, most of these pictures and videos are also available freely on other websites. You HAVE to review this as a game/game collection, and knowing what I have and have paid for on disc, it IS a bit pricey for what it is. A better price would be in the $15-25 range. After all, like has been said, some of these are the same game just a different platform, and really only a handful of the classics have stood the test of time. Factor in the many preloaded "consoles" with many of the same games that simply plug into your TV, for the same price or less, it's just not worth the current cost. Game wise, definitely five stars, price wise however, the value doesn't equal the cost. Two stars for being "close".

YES I purchased this game, AND have been playing it. Three stars for originality and fighting mechanics. Other than that, in many spots it is too simplified, although the end is hard. Graphics are ok, but nothing to write home about. Music is decent enough. Still docking 2 stars for the language difficulty AND for GOG and Developer both launching a half-baked release without checking for something as simple and easy to spot as a language error at installation. Look, GOG- yes it is on sale, BUT you charge MONEY for it. People EXPECT to get value for their money, if you are selling it, something THAT obvious should have been fixed before offering it...and that when I was the FIRST to REVIEW and you couldn't see clear to SHOW the review tells me you are not the honest company I thought you were when I started purchasing games here. At almost 200 games I own, one would THINK customer satisfaction is IMPORTANT. I can understand now between DRM's, premature launches, programs requiring workarounds rather than being fixed, and hidden reviews, even with fair pricing I can see why people pirate your wares! Any more bad products, and I'm going back to "TRY BEFORE YOU BUY" myself!!! Maybe it "hurts" developers and middlemen, but so does bad business practices! Be fair and honest, reviews will be fair and honest. Screw up, and it is YOUR fault if reviews are not "friendly".
