Dink Smallwood HD

Welp...

I was only joking in the forums months ago about Dink being the greatest game of all time and it should be here on GOG. Touche' GOG team. Now excuse me while I go play with my Dink...Smallwood.

Beyond Good & Evil™

A few gems sunk in a sea of absurdity.

A photographer with a questionable past who cares for orphans on an alien world that slowly uncovers military/government/criminal activity sounds like an amazing backdrop for an adventure. Then you play the game... Well, the camera is fun anyway.

Blood: Fresh Supply

After metric Butt Ton of patches...

The first week of this re-release was awful. An unfinished and seemingly untested mess. But unlike some some ip holders that "remaster" and "enhance" old games (cough Beamdog) the current team working on Blood had a fire lit under their arses and started cranking out fixes right away. Good maps, amazing music, a variey of weapons that force you to employ tactics to succeed, and a fun horror theme, it still stands out. While still far from perfect or accurate, this is the easiest way to get into Blood without modding the unplayable Dosbox version with GDX.

Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition

Bit of an "OOF"

I bought the Deluxe Edition at release to support Beamdog, as I assumed they would roll out more optimizations, graphics options and other quality of life improvements to this old warhrorse. Ten months down the road and it's still a bit of a mess. Frametimes and stutter. Dropping frames during spell effects or too much action on screen. Bugs and glitches in Diamond still present. UI resizing is a blurry joke. The new render effects are nice looking, if subtle. Except for the Depth of Field which turns the entire game into a blurry mess. This version of the game has not crashed yet, that's a plus. Also, you need to buy the "Deluxe" edition to get all the DLC, which should be included out of the gate for an "enhanced" edition. And there is a lot of nickel-and-diming DLC modules. Still, you get a massive amount of content, and besides the paint-drying dullness of the base game, there's hundreds of hours of potential fun, more than that if you drag along a friend or two.

Venetica - Gold Edition

Knockoff games can be good. This isn't.

Potato optimization, glitchy, flashing textures, crashing, awful combat control and camera. Art style is almost too "familiar." Feels like it was rushed to launch with the only quality feature being the voice acting and some of the story arc is alright. Heard it was a decent console-ish action adventure, but I would have been better off dusting of my 360 and popping in Fable II.
