Tetris® Forever

GOG ignores lack of updates on the store

It would appear that Digital Eclipse fanboys have reported my reviews on this product page. It would seem these people are perfectly content to have their products missing updates on the GOG store, and any - legitimate - criticism of their beloved developer is too much for them to bear. These reviews, however, are relevant in the sense that the developer, Digital Eclipse, has a historical pattern of abandoning updates of its products - including this very title, ‘Tetris Forever’. Relevant review on this product: '- On Feb 27, Digital Eclipse’ game ‘Tetris Forever’ had its "biggest-ever update" released on other platforms. This update includes the 1991 "cult classic" Super Tetris and the 1988 title Tetris (AcademySoft) v. 3.12. GOG users are still waiting for this update.' The GOG support team, whose ‘support’ is non-existent with regards to responding to support requests I have sent months ago on the lack of updates of Digital Eclipse’ products on GOG, acts to remove critical reviews - which criticise pertinent aspects of a game - such as updates - of products on their store. Again, this shows how out of touch GOG are with gamers' needs in the modern digital marketplace, where, through these actions of removing critical reviews of products lacking important updates, simply compounds this long-running issue of missing updates on the GOG platform. In other words, GOG are content to bury their heads in the sand on this issue. An entire forum on GOG exists on this issue exists: 'Games that treat GOG customers as second class citizens v2. Updates are important to gamers. This removal of critical reviews, which follow GOG's own reviewing guidelines, demonstrates that GOG’s so-called ‘customer-first’ policy is nothing but a pretense and their only interest is in keeping the sales going, even though this means customers being sold incomplete products. GOG simply doesn’t care.

The future of developer updates on GOG..

Please upvote this and the other reviews regarding the cancellation of updates / DLC for ‘Atari 50’. This is so the voice of the GOG community can be heard by Atari / Digital Eclipse: That we say NO to our games being abandoned on this platform - as this would only set the precedent for further games having their support ended, and GOG users being left out with incomplete versions of games. We can affect change on these issues. It seems a staff member from GOG (Jed) will contact Atari and try to find a solution on the ‘Atari 50’ DLC (on the GOG Café Discord). Devs historically try to blame the GOG platform’s 'update method’ as a convenient pretext in avoiding their own responsibility: which is to support their paying customers of their products. Yet, this stated ‘update problem on GOG’ is wholly inconsistent for this to be true. Digital Eclipse' stated reason for the GOG DLC falling to launch along with the other platforms: - Sept 25 - DE stated on their YouTube trailer video for DLC1 that “something went wrong” and that they were trying to “fix" it. - Oct 4 - Atari’s stated response to a GOG customer, posted on the ‘Atari 50' forum, that their “team” were “actively working on the issue” and were trying to “resolve” it. 6 months later, after stating they were "actively working" on the project - Atari and Digital Eclipse' Jan 23 Discord statement: "...at this point there's not an active project to make the DLCs or Extended Edition available". "The studio's proprietary development tools don't allow for this content to be efficiently re-platformed to the VCS and GOG platforms". What exactly is this "content" ?: - ‘Atari 50’ / DLC - a collection of text, images, video and emulated games (ROMs), presented by Digital Eclipse' 'Timeline' interface. - This 'interactive documentary’ format software, is reused in all of Digital Eclipse' 'Gold Master Series'. I will let readers draw their own conclusions as to the significance of Atari's above statement.
