Master of Orion 2

A timeless classic like its predecessor

The first two MOO games are still unbeaten to this day for me. If you haven't tried them and like 4X games, give them a go :) Hint: Interstellar Space: Genesis is, at least to this veteran player, the first game that actually comes close in playability and atmosphere, and its still in active development.

Beyond a Steel Sky

I liked this a lot!

The game has its own atmosphere, and even though I'm not a super fan of point'n'click adventures, this one made me come back to it daily until I completed the story. Would be great to see a sequel come up some day!

Pioneers of Pagonia

A true feelgood game

To me, the 'feel' of the game is just right. It feels like the original Settlers on the Amiga way back in 1994, but with lots of improvements that make it a real gem to play. If you enjoy slow-paced city (village?) builders with light-weight strategic elements, this is a great choice for you. There are also plans for future updates (free and paid DLC), and the devs are posting regularly on their Discord channel. They are patching the game actively too, so for those of you who have had technical problems, it's likely that they will be ironed out soonish. The in-game island creation tools are already top notch, and you can easily create scenarios to your liking.

Endless Sky

A pleasant coffee break game

As others have said here, Endless Sky is good at offering a simple yet fun game experience that bears a close resemblance to the classic Elite from 1984. Good fun for a while.

SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech

Not bad, easygoing snack of a game

This is not a very ambitious game in terms of depth or scope, but what it does, it does well. Hand of Gilgamesh involves light strategy elements and good, lighthearted dialogue. Great for a little relaxation :)

Legend of Grimrock

Still a gem of a game!

A really fun dungeon romp that brought the ancient Dungeon Master to the 2010s. Don't miss the sequel either if you like this one!

Caves of Lore

Worth every cent

An enjoyable adventure which has a good balance between the CRPG elements - combat, story, inventory management, automap and so on. Recommended for anyone looking for a great pastime for a small price.

SteamWorld Heist

Forced me to binge

Others have already said it: this game is fun. I bought this on a sale as I liked Steamworld Dig 1 and 2, and was not disappointed. Simple, enjoyable and doesn't take itself too seriously.
