TLDR: For everyone: Good crpg, AAA game production - animations, voiceovers. Likable and original companions with actual personalities and somewhat meaningfull progress. Questionable UX choices for mouse&keyboard users. For the fans of Divinity original sin (2): Great UI improvement (but still not great), story telling improvements, combat is very simplified. For the experienced DnD players: Story intended for high level, maybe even epic campaing (my guess is level ~10 to ~18 on 3e at minimum) with the high level creatues and saving the world. Played with lvl 1 characters and nerfed adversaries. Companions have the history of the high level characters but start at lvl 1. Plain ruleset oversights - get acess to "true resurrection" scroll, lvl9 spell, on level 1, this item could make half of the endings into happy end and solve some personal quests instantly but no, it is just revivify+heal. Feels like story writen by someone (talented) after reading drizzt books and starting their first DnD campaing as DM from lvl1. For dnd/Faerun lore enthusiasts and DMs. Just don't. Maybe it's just 5e thing but I hate it. Dead three are not dead, low level adversaries stealing from Mephistopheles. Meet gods daughter, immortal, get "commands/messages" directly from gods. Time of troubles consequences are inconsequential. Mindflayer lore mostly ignored. Change the course of gith* races in single decision in single dialogue. (and you still have the true ressurection scroll which could fix everyting) For Baldur's gate 2 fans: Not a Baldur's gate game. Seems like BG2 and ToB did not happened. Meet Minsk & Jaheira as their poor BG1 selves but older. Viconia and Sarevok as their BG1 selves but with artifacts named after them. Main plot device is artifact left by a guy with same power (level 41) as your party at the end of ToB (lvl ~40), but there are no direct remnants, items or references in the game (except maybe one mediocre shield)
