Heroes of Might and Magic III: Horn of the Abyss

Amazing

How to make a great game even greater? This mod. Best HoMM3 mod.

Rebuild 3: Gangs of Deadsville

Decent game, but...

Good game, but like others have noted, it's missing the Deluxe content. That could be overlooked, but I personally couldn't overlook the lack of cloud saves, especially when the Steam version includes this. However, if you don't care about such things, it's a worthy purchase.

Jagged Alliance 2

Treasured classic

Great game. Play the 1.13 version for even more fun. Search "1dot13" to find the latest build, or visit The Bear's Pit forum.

Armored Brigade

Excellent wargame

Basically, it's a 2D top-down Combat Mission. Perhaps some of the mechanics and AI aren't quite as robust as CM, but there's still a lot to like here. Tons of options to customize your campaigns/missions, gameplay, and force selections. There's immense replay value here. There's also a WW2 mod, but I'd really like to see the devs officially make a WW2 version of this system. There's not much "fluff" here, it's mostly just about the combat, which is fine by me. I don't really need a narrative in games like this. Highly recommended.

Warlords I + II

W2D: Worthy TBS game

Compared to its sequel, it's a bit more basic, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It has a smaller pool of units (though you can create your own in the editor), fewer features, no magic, and the UI is rather basic, but like all Warlords games its value is more than the sum of its parts. Easy to learn, hard to master. Some might find its graphical presentation more appealing than W3, which has the "overhead" perspective that some people aren't fans of. Also, the talking Warlord head is badass. Decent music, too. It's a fun and fast playing strategy game worthy of the attention of any fan of the genre. The series overall deserves more love.

X-Com: UFO Defense

Test of time: passed

Among one of the best tactical combat games ever made. For those put off by its age, and even if you aren't, OpenXcom is highly suggested. It adds many QoL improvements, and allows for easy implementation of mods (both minor and total conversion types). However, the core design of the game is still valid and good, despite its age. It may be more cumbersome than the newer remakes, but it is far more detailed and nuanced. I still like the new ones for their streamlining and ease of use, while still being tactical and fun, but it can't compare to the breadth of options in the original, along with mods. Newbies should expect a learning curve, but it's worth sticking with it. Highly recommended.

Odd Realm

Fun game, neglectful dev

I've enjoyed the game so far, but the dev seems to have no interest in keeping it updated on GoG (version 10.0.21). It is currently 7 months and 10 patches behind the Steam version. I suppose I'd bump this up significantly if this situation changes, but GoG does not allow editing of reviews. As of right now, the GoG version is significantly neglected.
