As many have already pointed out, this game does not have much in common with Baldur's Gate 1+2. As a fan of D&D, I had hoped that Larian Studios would manage to create a great world. The reviews were great, so I bought this game. What can I say? It's just boring. Once again it shows, that Cinematic film sequences and great graphics are rather not important for a great game. For 30 hours I hoped it would start to be entertaining, but it just didn't. A hundred thousand items in a hundred thousand rooms and a hundred thousand conversations just felt boring. -the inverntory is a disaster. In addition, you are cluttered with useless items. Way to many boxes, chests and sometimes 5 times the same book in the same room. -always the foremost character has to talk. No chance to change. Very bad game design. -Way too many traps -Dice rolls take forever (No possibility to change that in the menu) and you have to diceroll EVERYTHING. Get's boring really fast. -Everything takes forever (Exploring/Traps/Checks/Itemorganisation etc.) while not beeing entertaining. -Every Companion is horny as F***. As soon as you met them, they wan't to jump in your bed. Take the Githyanki Lae'zel: She allways hates you and 5 min. later, she is flirting with you. Really? This is so cheap! - Kinda childish, like all Larian Games. Better play Pillars of Eternity 1+2 (or maybe the Owl Cat-Games) if you wan't the Spirit and Atmosphere of the old CRPG's. Even if they are not D&D, they feel more like it!
I had a lot of fun with this game. But it doesn't have to much content. The development is very slow. I don't recommend to buy this now, it takes forever for very simple small updates. Probably not finished ever. Maybe worth it later.... I bought it on Steam about 1.5 Years ago.
Ok, I loved this game. I'm a big fan of difficult roguelike games. FTL was my big Love. Dark/Demon Souls are fantastic, in my point of View. So, Darkest Dungeon has kind of the same feeling to it. I died many times, lost many Characters - but thats ok, because you get better while playing it but you still can die (pretty much like the Souls Series). I played about 150 hours and was in love.... And then, Level 5/6 Dungeons appear. Dodge doesn't really work anymore (dodge build=delete). Even a little spider Crits you half the time. Enemy Casters take 3 Hits before they die from a full upgraded Damage Dealer. Difficulty ok, but this is no fun. Yeah Yeah, we Monsters are so lucky and always Crit........ Nothing to do with skill/knowledge, only pure luck to make the Fight. Stress Damage is not a Problem here, its a Gamebreaker. As long they don't change this, I don't recommend buying it!
