Sure, the hommage to the pixely games of ages past may not be to everyone's liking. But this has some *rare* qualities: - Polished. The author tweaks game balance and other details until perfection. Nothing feels unbeatable or overpowered and stays that way for more than a few versions. - Nothing beats it for quick short gaming sessions. Doctor's waiting room? They call, you immediately turn the phone off, you lose nothing, it never lets you down - OK not applicable here. - Immense replayability. I still discover new elements / combos in old features after *years* of playing. Rule of three - enough for now.
"Enhanced for Modern Platforms" Untrue. Requires libssl 1.0 which has been removed for very good reasons from any relevant distro for years. You would need to go back to an ubuntu 16.04 based distro to get the game to run on it out of the box. Problem known for years, no reaction, a 2022-10 download still won't run without very technical workarounds. Support won't be helping you as you won't be able to get past that moronic chat bot. "Your review should focus on in-game experience only" Sorry, We buy GOG _because_ you used to solve these kind of problems for us. Ease of getting a game to run is a vital part of the experience.
The 5 stars are for the original game. As the grandfather of all modding communities it is beyond critique. Be informed that on a current Linux you won't be able to run this, as indirectly documented. The listed requirement "libssl1.0.0:i386" can no longer be installed on modern distributions, and rightfully so. The hard linking will not allow the replacement libssl1.1 to automatically take over.
