Description
“Regalia - Royal Edition” is the have-it-all version of warmly received tactical RPG “Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs”. In this special edition you will not only enjoy the base game, but it also comes with two cool expansions: The Unending Grimoire and Paragons and Pajamas. You’ll get new playable heroes, new shopkeepers, new cosmetic options for your favourite characters, more items, more battlegrounds, and... more!

“Regalia: Of Men And Monarchs” is an RPG full of challenging combat and exciting adventures. Create your party of distinct individuals and get to work! There's a lot to be done if you are to rebuild your kingdom.

Enjoy the beautiful hand-drawn graphics, lose yourself in the original orchestral soundtrack composed by Game Audio Factory (of Furi and the Endless series fame), and go adventuring in the untamed regions of the land of Ascalia!

Your story begins in somewhat unexpected circumstances. Who would have thought that after your father passed away you would inherit… a wondrous kingdom far, far away? Unfortunately as soon as you arrive in Ascalia you find out the kingdom is drowning in terrible debt. Now, through some good old fashioned adventuring, you have to return your family seat to its former glory, help out your new subjects, and repay the kingdom’s massive debt!

“Regalia: Of Men And Monarchs” is a cool tactical RPG and a Kickstarter success. It was funded by gamers who, just like us, believe that we need to have more good tactical role-playing games. In the end, it was made to be everything we ourselves want from an honest RPG game.

So, will you defeat all the rats, bandits, monsters, and debt collectors? Or will your ruined kingdom fall into an even worse ruin? If you won’t succeed it will be the world’s first ruined ruin. And that’s just the worst.
  • Royal Edition gets you the base game and two very cool expansions: The Unending Grimoire and Paragons and Pajamas!
  • Robust turn-based battles with varied objectives and lots of viable strategies
  • 6 various regions to explore, each filled with battles, adventures, bosses and more!
  • More than 20 unique characters to meet, recruit or befriend. Foster relationships and create the ultimate team of misfits!
  • All you need to be a successful king: town management, diplomacy, expeditions
  • A light-hearted story with tons of humour and a fair amount of epicness
  • Over 30 hours of gameplay
  • Huge replayability factor: you won’t discover all the content in just one playthrough
  • Craft new, powerful weapons
  • Beautiful graphics with hand-drawn 2D backgrounds
  • Orchestral soundtrack composed by Game Audio Factory (Endless Legend, Endless Space, Furi)
  • Professional English voice acting
  • Samurai dwarves!

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly and DLC

Ok, first lets talk about game overall: Regalia is Tactical RPG with gimmick - strict time management (and to some degree town menagement +" date simulator") Good - Bright colorful graphics, nice and cute characters with lot to choose you team, more or less diversity of game-play, need to think before battle, in battle and after battle. Battles is mostly quite...interesting and challenging. Bad - while i mentioned diversity absolute most of thing except combat and time management is made "just to be here" and feels awfully rudimentary. Building is very limited and simple, bound only to resource cost, Fishing game is absolute meh in general. Relationship building is fine, but many of "correct" answers feels just random without much logic. While its obvious that you should praise Blacksmith beloved dog its completely WTF with Beastwoman, for example. Needless to say that sometimes its feels little like a chore and THERE IS NO ROMANCE at all. Such a wasted potential... Combat is UNFAIR - you constantly overwhelmed, your opponents is packed with ranged abilities, stuns and dont hesitate to use them. Every fight is like last fight! Ugly - Game made with Unity and leaks memory. Save often! Its absolutely...enraging when you finish hard battle and...boom, game crashed :( LOADING SCREENS. OMG, how much of them! I heard peoples complaining about slow loading of Satellite Reign, but this one have small fast loading screen on literally each mouse click. Next topic is Royal Edition. Its includes 2 DLC, from which one is simply adds stuff like characters, additional quests and factions, but in general dont changes anything. Feels like should-be-free update to me. Second is adding optional random fights mode for combat freaks. This one do feels like proper DLC. So, should you get Regalia? If you up to TRPG and like challenging combat, probably worth to try. I'm not hating this game at all. Royal edition? Not much of extra content, think yourself. Yes if discounted.

Skip it.

I saw that this was a tactical RPG, which is my favorite genre. It had great artwork and looked very fun and funny. A couple of hours into the game and I realize that most of the listed features are just tacked on and have no real depth to them and that the whole thing is timed. You can't really grind or explore very much because everything is on a time limit. You know why I play tactical RPGs? Because I dislike time limits of any kind. I like taking my time, weighing my options and figuring out my best course of action. Sadly, I cannot recommend this game.

Wasted Potential

I should have watched some gameplay videos's. I hate time limits in any game regardless of the format they take. I did like the art and the campy story was okay enough to enjoy. But yea, wasted potential. Game really encourages save scumming when developing relationships... total bore makes we want to just look up the best dialog path and that is less fun not more fun. Combat is definitely unique and interesting, though the objective can be annoying for the extra exp. In short play the game one way for best effect, which is boring. Game has potential but it feels wasted. And OMG the loading screens between everything... what is that? its a flipping load fest, everything comes with a loading screen... its actually pretty nasty!

Good game

I got this game at a discount ($19.87), and I don't regret a single cent. This is, mainly, a tactical RPG. It features a lot of battles where your characters, each with its own fighting style, will have to complete an objective (kill all enemies, kill some enemies then flee, survive a number of rounds, etc.), with each time two other, optional "challenge" objectives (win in less than 5 turns, only use the 'signature' moves (an action without cooldown, on each character), do NOT use any signature moves, have all deployed characters survive, deploy less than the allowed number of companions, etc.) While these objectives seem a bit random (it seemed to me they could change when "giving up" on a battle, then trying it again, they add more fun and challenge to the game. Plus, completing them increases the likelyhood to find some loot. But the game is not ONLY a tactical RPG. It is also a time-management exercise, in that you'll have to complete a few "chapters", having, each time, a set deadline, in days, in which to complete all the objectives. Most of the time, this will be to complete a set number of "kingdom quests" (that is, either explore dungeons, or raise your relations with people, or improve the town by building, or craft items, etc.), but some special, story-related objectives will also pop-up, sometimes, and will have to be solved before the deadline, too. Upgrading relations with characters has been compared to a dating sim - I see it mostly as a time investment to unlock their potential. It's a solid mechanism where you spend some precious days to invest in something, or someone, and later on get better returns (better crafts, better skills, etc.) All in all, my first (and only) playthrough ended without having needed to explore everything on the world map, which means that you may CHOOSE where to go, where to explore, what to do, instead of being forced everywhere. All in all, a solid game, very enjoyable and addictive, and with fun dialogs. Go get it!

A fun and cute game

Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs is a cute tactical/turn-based combat game that also incorporates time management, town construction, and relationship building. Good: Cute, fun, and light. Combat strikes a good balance regarding difficulty(I played on Normal). Each battle offers a couple of optional challenges meant to make the fight much harder. Completing them will reward you with more xp and increase the chances of finding treasure. It's fun to see how each relationship grows. The game strikes a good balance and gives you room to play and build how you want to while also providing a good amount of pressure to adhere to the chapter deadlines. Bad: Fishing is pretty poor. Very monotonous and boring. However, it can present some nice rewards if you're willing to stomach it. Memory leaks are a thing in this game. Fortunately I only experienced game crashing when I would switch focus from the game to something else as it was loading. Other than that if you play for more than a couple hours you will begin to notice the game starts to slow down and skip frames. I recommend saving as soon as you can once this occurs. Although it never crashed on me it only gets worse the longer you wait. The final boss is kinda crap. Things I wish I knew before playing: You won't be able to progress every single relationship before the end game. Each character offers unique skills for your party or opens things up. It's good to think about how you intend to play the game and focus on that. The only way to max out a faction is to side with that faction every time. You will not get an opportunity to fix this in the future. I never liked it when a final boss relies so heavily on a select few gimmicks which - if you aren't prepared for (and aren't given any reason or indication to do so) - will make the encounter much more difficult. Perhaps the simplest thing to suggest is to bring a character(s) that can poison. There's a couple other ways but that's the easiest.
