Wartales

Not for me

The game feels pretty barebones - there's no music, and you're just thrown in to the world without any idea of what you're supposed to be doing.

RoboCop: Rogue City

DO NOT PURCHASE

This game does NOT work with DirectX 12, it won't even launch.

Jagged Alliance 2

This game does NOT work on Windows 11

I tried to run this game through Galaxy, and my PC froze.

Ash of Gods: Redemption

I like the style, but not the game

The animated intro is nice. The combat is fine, but a little slow and very sparse. The dialogue sequences are not very well written, and far too long. Also, the game doesn't save very often and there is no way to manual save

Baldur's Gate 3

Lives up to the hype

I was skeptical, but I'm honestly enjoying the game so far. I like it a lot more than Divinity: Original Sin 2, personally. My favorite parts are definitely the dialogue and cut-scenes. The game has at least a few references/ callbacks to Descent into Avernus, as well as at least one to Out of the Abyss

Masquerada: Songs and Shadows

Pretty, but otherwise unremarkable

I'm still struggling to get in to this game. I like CRPGs in general, but this one lacks any memorable characters or dialogue. The combat and skill trees seem fairly simple. The game lacks other basic RPG elements such as gear or crafting. I will say that the graphics are colorful and unique

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous - The Treasure of the Midnight Isles

A slog

I'm probably weird for this, but I play the Pathfinder games more for the story and characters and less for the combat. The 3rd DLC seems to be mostly combat, with little or no story. Probably good for folks that just want to test new builds and parties, but not so much for people like myself.

Hard West

XCOM in the wild West

Instead of aliens, you're fighting bandits. This game is OK, although feels more linear than other XCOM clones (there's no base to upgrade, no research, etc.)

Phantom Doctrine

XCOM-style espionage game

The combat and the base-building are pretty similar to XCOM games. In this one, you play as an agent of either the CIA or the KGB. Between missions, you send agents to gather intel and assess threats. Overall the game seems fine, but it hasn't hooked me. Maybe I need to keep playing

Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness

Poor clone of Baldur's Gate I

I can't possibly recommend this game. The bugs make it barely playable (even looking at the character creation screen will overwrite your existing save files, etc.) You'll be much better off playing either of the Pathfinder games, or the Pillars of Eternity games. Shame, I backed this game so I've been waiting to play it for a while.
