Sniper Ghost Warrior 3

Almost a fantastic game

A flawed little gem, play it with the Improvement Project mod available on moddb for the best experience and to remove many of the annoyances other reviewers have criticized the game for.

Star Trek™: Voyager - Elite Force

Still a great game

While graphically it doesn't hold up today the story and gameplay are still phenomenal even by today's standards even if you have no interest in Star Trek. The game also runs fine on modern hardware if you're worried about that.

Deadlight: Director's Cut

Ambitious but lacking

Deadlight could easily be a great game and was clearly made by devs that have potential but some issues prevent this game from really being good. For starters the atmosphere and story are great, the dialogue feels relatively natural apart from the main character and the end sequence which is difficult to pull off, the music is also pretty good and sets the mood very nicely. The scenery is also fantastic, it's incredibly well detailed and you can tell that the devs didn't rush it. The biggest problems I have with this game are firstly that the game is far too clunky, there's a recurring glitch where you keep switching sides rapidly while trying to go over a wall, additionally sometimes you can press the jump button to climb up and sometimes this inconsistency causes you to die at times you shouldn't have. Aiming also feels stiff and turning around while aiming is nearly not possible since you need to always wait for the animations to end. Secondly Randall feels far too gritty and edgy. I get that he's supposed to be a rough and tough survivalist type but he ends up being generic and uninteresting. His dialogue seems like it's supposed to be poetic and insightful but ends up being "I'm 14 and this is deep!" type stuff, for example he keeps calling the zombies "shadows" and the outbreak "a war between humans and monsters". I would have advised the devs to opt for a softer and more relatable protagonist. Lastly this game was not made by pros. You can tell that almost immediately when you start playing. I don't think that's an argument against the game necessarily but the lack of coding experience shows and makes gameplay difficult. It's a sidescrolling Unity game from 2016 and it still runs poorly on an average computer; the simple graphics of this game imply the problem stems from faulty programming. Overall, if you liked Limbo and/or Inside and enjoy Walking Dead or other zombie media then I say get this game if it goes on sale.

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin + Reborn

Not a bad game, just not as good

FEAR 2 pales in comparison to FEAR 1 but by itself is not a bad game. On its own it's still fun and definitely worth playing if you enjoy basic FPS games. The updated visuals and minor improvements to combat are decent although some good features got removed such as the leaning. My main problems are that it's more like Call of Duty than FEAR (although that's not necessarily a bad thing), the melee attacks are borderline useless now except for the slidekick and for some reason the bicycle kick will always go above your enemies missing them completely, the game is far too easy even on harder difficulties with only a few minor difficulty spikes, you don't feel like a badass like in FEAR 1 but rather like you're the only competent guy with a gun in the entire game, the supporting cast is as bland as airline food, and also the complete lack of the titular FEAR team. The REBORN expansion is fantastic compared to the base game however and it's a pity that it's only about 2 hours long at most. It's more challenging and creates a very different atmosphere, and it becomes noticable early on that the devs learned from the mistakes they made with the base game. Overall I'd say get the game when it goes on sale if you really liked FEAR 1.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky

Worst in the series but not too bad

If SoC and CoP are 10 then Clear Sky is a 7. A lot of aspects are greatly improved upon but they don't balance out the problems the game has such as bullet sponge enemies, nearly all side missions being fetch quests, the grind for money, lack of intriguing story, and short length. However the faction wars and upgrading system are really fun and worth the purchase if the game is on sale.
