    Better Grab it H.E.R.E.!

Not a bad sequel, it just puts more emphasis on the tactical side of the game, and the paranormal horror side suffers a bit. Once you get into a mech (which is very fun, don't get me wrong!) it's hard to get back into the horror vibe. The Best thing is it comes with DLC which would cost you $9.99 on Steam. So GOG.COM has better deal. The Good: +Game looks good both artisically and technically. + Game has a variety of weapons and grenades. Certain weapons are very creative while others are what you would expect in a FPS. + The game has really solid level design (takes place over a series of different environments and locations). +The shooting mechanics feel good. The Average: AI feels average compared to the first FEAR. F.E.A.R. was renowned for its amazing AI and to this day I still think it sets the standard for AI in a FPS game. This game though doesn't seem to have that. The AI is not bad by any means, however compared to the first game it doesn't feel close. The horror elements are not as a good as the first game. One of the most satisfying weapons in any FPS game was the shotgun from the first game. In this game, the shotgun doesn't even feel close to satisfying. I found the game to be very easy even on the normal setting, play on hard if you want a challenge. The Bad: - The dialogue in this game is terrible. It becomes difficult to take the story seriously or be afraid of what's around the corner when the characters are saying things that just make you shake your head. -The game has a certain flow to it but the entire ending gameplay segment feels frustrating and out of place. -Multiplayer is dead. (Although may be GOG.COM may fix it via GOG Galaxy) Conclusion On the one hand this game does things a lot better than the first, on the other hand it also doesn't seem to improve any of the flaws and in some cases makes it worse. For a FPS game it is very solid and should provide you with a 5-6 hours of fun.

    Decent shooter

If all your looking for is a 6-8 hour by the book shooter, you'll be pleased. The visceral excitement of the first games gun play and melee combat is somewhat lost in the sequel. Not a bad Michael Bay-esque romp - just not a worthy sequel to the original. The DLC is nice, and at about 2 hours can fill a afternoon somewhere. For the price its a decent purchase.

    So underrated

I love first two parts of F.E.A.R. saga. Absolutely unique atmosphere. It's not like all other scary games - you're a person with psychic powers and lots of guns, but you know there is something you can't fight with it. Something more an army can't fight against. And it's coming after you. But, you know, this part is the best. I mean I love the first one. But it lacked some dynamics and got a little bit boring in some places (but still a really awesome game). Meanwhile this one is just a top-notch combination of scariyness with a really action-packed story - you're like on a scary rollycoaster, it's never borning, it's sometimes more scary, sometimes less - but it never makes you yawn and close the game. The developers made a perfect balance in this part - just what I ever dreamed in a sequel. Re-playing it right now (and I do it so rarely). Worth every dollar spent. Oh, and I forgot - even 6 years since it came out and it still looks fantastic! Totally deserved - 10/10

Nowhere near as good as the first game

Not a totally bad game but everything that made the first game so great is pretty much gone, the flair of the gun fights, the sound, the AI, the sound, the feeling of the guns etc all pale in comparison. Its just an above average run-of-the-mill shooter but its FAR better than FEAR3.

    Alma made me do it!!!

After going through F.E.A.R. 1 and DLC's I just had to get this one to see how it would end. I was first rewarded and then brutally and stupidly let down. See below. Pro's: No more issues with HID compliant devices. Better and more varied graphics. Familiar, intuitive and responsive interface. You can now create havoc in your very own (Well... actually stolen...) powersuit! This time, you can actually blow the head off of a few jerks. Interesting story that meshes with the first installment but with less esoteric mumbo-jumbo. Tough but feasible game without any cheating. Con's: No more save; checkpoints only. Abuse, abuse, and more abuse. No one helps you but they all scream for your help and treat you like dung. Are FPS players all perceived as masochist??? ABSOLUTELY BAAAAD, ASSENINE, STUPID AND INSULTING ENDING. Just for it, I'm out with the franchise. Final: No FPS lover can be without the F.E.A.R. saga. Buy it. The core game is worth it. Just be prepared for the ultimate let down in the end.
