Spellcasting 1+2+3

Ahhhh ... The Island of Horny Women 😍

This one's a weird one ... I kinda liked it from the first scene, but then I found out that the clock is tickin'. Adventure games are my priority because I like to snoop around and that is strictly forbidden here, at least if you want to finish the game properly. Too bad. The interface is OK, because you can play the game either by selecting words offered on your left (and believe me there are a lot of combinations) or you can type them or mix it with both. So that one is OK too. The thing that is not OK is the thing that you don't know what to do at times (of course, there is always a walkthrough). The game is funny with lots of jokes and the story is great (reminds me of Larry in typing mode). All kinds of silly quests and A LOT OF WOMEN ! The more you dive in, the more you get sucked in by the story. For all of you who want a great story, you can start spellcasting. And, of course ... turn on NAUGHTY MODE !

Clive Barker's Undying

Mediocre shooter

As a GREAT fan of horror adventure and RPG games, a friend of mine recommended this game. Maybe it was the hype or supposedly Lovecraft mentioning, I installed the game and waited for nirvana. The menus were poor, but it had some eerie feeling so I said let's play this. Intro was OK and the mansion itself is maybe one of the few great things in this game (I remember many of those paintings on the wall), but as the game progressed that eerie feeling started to slip away and the "Lovecraft horror game" showed it's real face. This is a mediocre shooter with no real spooky scenes and it gets boring along the way. So for all of you shooter lovers, stick with "Clive Barker : Jericho" or "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" and if you're a fan of REAL horror adventure games, you have to try out "Phantasmagoria", "Gabriel Knight : The beast within" or a classic like "Dark seed". Anyway, play games and enjoy !

The 7th Guest

Great puzzles in a classic

As a big fan of horror and adventure games, I had to grab this old timer. Even though I thought it was a game like Phantasmagoria or Dark seed, this game positively surprised me. Most of all, it was the puzzles ..... I was not happy that this was not an adventure game, but the puzzles were really good. I don't remember when was the last time I had to think hard so much like in The 7th guest. Great graphics, optimized for today's hardware, and good music (with not so good voice acting) are one of the game's standouts. Also, you have to be aware that this is not a horror game and the game has a poor story too. So, if you're in for a great and tough puzzles that make sense, then The 7th guest should be one of your priorities on the shopping list.

Beyond Divinity

A long trip

With already playing Divine Divinity, Beyond Divinity was a game I had to lay my hands on. As DD was one of the best games I've ever played on PC, the expectations were very high. Once again Larian studios offered us a BIG game. Elder scrolls Oblivion was big, but I could say that this one is EVEN BIGGER. With hundreds of quests and vast worlds, BD has one of the BIGGEST worlds in gaming kingdom ! You get to play with your companion right away and can tune him nicely. Also, you can later summon four more companions and then BD looks like a decent RPG. The only flaw is that the skills of characters are horrific. There are too many skills on the menu for every character, but 70% of the skills are useless ! This is not the way you should develop a good RPG. Refer to Diablo 2 : Couple of skills, choose this or that and everybody's happy. That's the recipe to success. Larian tried to get BD very deep in every term and got lost in the half way. However, with good story, many non PC's and vast world, we got ourselves a great RPG. With good graphics and decent sound, everybody can play it if they have a good amount of time. On the other hand, technical issues are over the edge. I don't remember that I have ever played a game with some many bugs ! The more you play, the more bugs get along the way. I even couldn't finish the game entirely because of that but I'll give it 4 stars eventually.

Amerzone: The Explorer's Legacy (1999)

GOOD STORY WITH GREAT AUDIO/VISUALS

Years after playing and finishing Syberia ( the best adv. game I've ever played ) I've heard of the game by Benoit Sokal that was released prior to Syberia. People on forums were talking about this game, so I bought it to try it out. At first, my expectations were high cause of fantastic Syberia, but it was fail from the start. I installed Amerzone on my XP cause the game was old. It was VERY BUGGY from the beginning as I couldn't finish first half of chapter 1. Bummer .... so I tried Amerzone on W7 and it was not so buggy as I was moving through the game. I have to say that there are only a few NPC's in the game, so I was very disappointed. Also, the game is easy which is cool as you don't need a walkthrough and it is finished in a couple of hours. Graphics were probably great at the time and sound effects and ambient are fantastic !! There are a lot of FMV's as you unravel a great story and fantastic world through your voyage but there are also a lot of cliches in screenplay. Overall, I would give 74/100 a score for The Explorer's legacy. For everyone who likes Myst games this is a great game and not so bad for adventure fans as myself. Enjoy ....

Superfrog HD

FROGGY ON STEROIDS

Funny platform game with virtual legend called Superfrog. I was playing this game on Amiga 500 back in the 90's and spent a lot of time avoiding spikes, bees, bats .... Time has changed, so the game looks different now. With better audio/visuals definitely, this is a great game for kids 3+. I would give a froggy 8 of 10.

Personal Nightmare

Tough as nails !

As a great fan of P&C and horror games, I had to put my hand on this one. I already had Elvira 1 and 2 and Waxworks, but I wanted to taste first game developed by Horror soft. I knew that P.N. is not so good. The game starts with awful intro that can't be stopped. Quietly, you are introduced into one weird interface and you realize very soon that time passes whatever you do ?! That means that one of the most interesting things in adventure games, like exploring and communication, have to be reduced to minimum in order to advance further into the game. Also, there is no music and there are very few sounds in the game. Did I mention that this game is hard to finish even with detailed walkthrough on YT ! Yes, you can die in numerous ways. Great plot and eerie moments are the things that outgun all those flaws. There are situations that you won't know what will happen next and that's what'll keep you going. Horror fans and P&C adventurers will find this game interesting. Enjoy .....

Ultimate Body Blows

Innovative martial arts on Amiga

There were a lot of games like this in 90's era. Some were good, the other went totally unnoticed on the market. As for Body blows, the game was very versatile. There were a lot of interesting characters to play with and they differed very much from one another. So I think that was a crucial point for the game, a big difference from other titles. That is why the game was big fun. Alongside SF 2, this was an outstanding beat 'em up. It makes me play it one more time.

The Temple of Elemental Evil

Classic RPG = Perfect RPG

This one's a REAL CLASSIC ! Some will say that the game is short with complicated combat system and a lot of bugs. Maybe they're right. But this is D&D in it's full glory ! Perfect character generation, exceptional combat mechanism and beautiful monster lore with great adventure characteristics and intriguing quests make this game A REAL RPG ON STEROIDS !! It's a bit tough, but when it ends, you wonder yourself what kind of party will you create the next time. It's character creation and story are so deep and diverse that it sucks you in wandering the villages, ruins and swamps all over again. RPG MASTERPIECE !!!!!
