I love games with lots of narrative, and the issue with "The Medium" is that the plot is beyond boring and predictable, the characters are unrelatable, and that ending .... gosh that ending is disgusting. The game mechanics are also quite boring (just some quick actions, and some super easy "puzzles"), but I generally don't care if the plot is good ... the problem with this game is that it focuses on the plot, and the plot is terrible. Graphics and sound design in general are great, despite the performance issues in some scenes, but I can't give them 2 stars just because the game looks pretty.
This game is super hard for casuals like myself, but is a great game nonetheless. - Levels are challenging either because of the fights or the level traversal itself. - The plot is a little bit predictable, but still entertaining. - There are different mechanics to master with different skills. - Graphics are amazing. - The loading time is non-existent, so is super easy to "try again". Fully recommended.
I seriously can't believe the amount of one star ratings I see on this page. This game is amazing. The puzzles are great, the fights are challenging but not to the point of getting frustrating, the graphics and art style are otherworldly, the plot is truly engaging, and the overall message of the story is great. Maybe people putting 1 star ratings are just classic "gamers", but if you enjoy a well written story with amazing graphics (like the games by Quantic Dream or Remedy), then you'll enjoy this game.
The graphics are amazing, the plot gets more and more interesting, but: 1. The controls are horrible in their current state (double tap to dash in PC ... crouch for skipping dialog ... WHY?!). They seem to be designed with a controller in mind instead of a keyboard and mouse. 2. FOV has a top value of 100?! 3. At the beginning the plot goes ok, and suddenly a super rushed cinematic and boom, you're in the same place no matter what lifepath you choose. 4. Cars exploded out of nowhere, characters skip frames in their animations, and other really weird bugs here and there. I really hope that a future patch deals with this issues, because I really want to love the game, but the game keeps tilting me ...
Let me clarify first that I'm a Remedy fan since Max Payne 1. I played Max Payne 1, Max Payne 2, Alan Wake, Alan Wake American Nightmare, Quantum Break and finally CONTROL. This game is the result of years of experience of the Remedy Team. The game "feels" like a Remedy game, graphically and gameplay wise (is the engine they improved more and more over the years). That's not it, the story is S P E C T A C U L A R. If you really take the time to enjoy the narration, the documents you find and the dialogs, it is full with mysteries that keep you wondering. Even if this game is full of lore, the action and the fights are one level on top of the already epic fights of Quantum Break, and that combined with the great graphics makes every fight enjoyable. Don't just take my word for it, get it and play it!
The game was surprisingly good. It starts kinda silly, but the characters have a great development, the level of customization in general is excellent and the overall plot is great. My only complaint is with the performance of the game, even with everything set to low, the game in some parts of the city has some terrible framedrops. Other than that, the game is amazing.
I'm in tears, this is not just a game, is a beautiful and deeply emotional experience, with art beyond words and a simple yet fully entertaining gameplay. You could be watching somebody else play it and you would enjoy the ride anyways. 100% recommended.
Darksiders is more than just a "God of War for PC", it has an interesting story and a lot of classic hack'n'slash elements. The puzzles are good (sometimes are kinda tedious), and there are some habilities that you can abuse spamming to kill large groups of enemies (with the Scythe/The Harvester). The final boss is REALLY easy if you took your time and got all the items you could in your run (I confronted him with the complete Abysal Armor). I give it a 4 because the game sometimes feels tedious and slugish, but is generally good.
