The game itself is really nice, the graphics are still descent, the mechanics for killing monsters are interesting, the weapons are fun to use, the dead animations are always fun, the puzzles are sometimes not that intuitive, but generally fun too. The only issue I had with this game was that the "plot twist" is really obvious, and the ending scene was horrible.
Being a fan of the cyberpunk genre and graphic adventure games, this game was a blast. It has all I wanted on a game like this: - Great locations. - Original and simple, yet beautiful graphics. - Great plot (with nice twists). - Nice soundtrack. - Interesting characters. - Nice narrative. Seriously, great work by Daedalic.
Red Faction Guerrilla is an awesome game form the technological standpoint. You have freedom to destroy ALMOST any structure, and that by itself gives this game a 5/5. The problems I found that made me point it 4/5, is that some missions are really frustrating, the plot is kind of boring, the graphics sometimes feel depressing and the final mission is a pain (it lacks good save points, if you are killed at certain points it sends you back almost at the beginning of the mission). Still, it is a great title, I really recommend it!
The story of the game is pretty good, with some interesting plot twists, good character development, and so on. The graphics are descent for the release year. Now as for the gameplay in general, it is REALLY annoying. Sometimes seems like every single AI hates you, others the main character itself performs stupid moves that leads him to die in hands of the enemy, or by jumping to his dead. Let's not talk about the hated by everyone "poor woman" character, or the crazy dudes that roams the streets, both only target the main character, and ignore the rest. The ending was kind of a let down, but maybe when I play "Assassin's Creed 2", I will feel better about it.
This game is one of the best 3D platformers I played in my life. I say is "almost a masterpiece" because one of the last levels (the meat circus) is really frustrating. Until that point, the game is very straightforward, but then it gets really annoying. Also, is the kind of game that has a "point of no return", so you need to make sure to have all the collectibles before that point, or you'll never get them. Besides that, the game design, the characters, the powers, the puzzles, the deep messages about the human psyche, is all great!
If you ask me what's the best part about Dust, I'll be thinking for hours. Almost every aspect of this game is amazing: The gameplay is REALLY fun, the plot is engaging and has a great message, the graphics are just amazing, the dialogs and voice acting is great, the characters are loveable, the options let's you customize even the size and position of the UI, the requirements to run it aren't that high, the overall feeling while you play it and when you finish it is amazing. As other reviewers put it: This game is a masterpiece.
The mechanics are great, the gameplay too. When you cut a bullet with a katana, trow that katana to the shooter and then take his wepon to kill one of his allies, you feel right in the middle of a great action movie (even more when you watch the replay). But the game is very short (you finish it in an hour or so), and the price is to high for the game they are offering.
This is, by far, the best local multi-player I played in years. Multiple and different scenarios (each one with certain game changing features, like walls that let the arrows through, but not the players, and vice-versa), different kind of arrows, unlockable characters, and more. Seriously, if you want to have a really good time with friends, just buy this, plug 4 controllers and enjoy!
Torchlight is an amazing RPG with all the classic style (even some of the key bindings for inventory, stats and so on), but with nowadays "cartoonish" graphics. Not only that, but also it has a "laptop mode", that runs smoothly on even very old machines. The plot is the only reason is not a 5/5 for me (is not that engaging), but the mechanics, the graphics and the overall gameplay is excepcional. If you were a Diablo/Diablo 2 player like myself, this game will definitely bring a great nostalgic feel while you play it.
