Great game

This is a fantastic game. I was expecting a cheap God of War Clone, but it's far better than that. For one thing the Horseman War is far more interesting a character than Kratos, whose one-note vengeance act is wearing pretty thin. Great atmosphere, fun combat, very creative puzzles, and some of the best creature design ever. It's a long game with tons of bosses, and they're all awesome looking. New elements are constantly introduced to keep it fresh--grappling hook, horseback combat, and even some Portal dynamics near the end. The biggest criticism is that Darksiders doesn't do anything new, but combining all these great elements from other games so successfully IS something new.

Good, not quite great

As a bunch of others have said, it's reminiscent of zelda games- a third person adventure with action elements (or maybe vice versa). But that said, the controls on pc are hellish, you really will want a controller for this. And I still found a lot of the puzzles frustrating even with the controller, especially some of the timed jumping puzzles. A lot of them you'll repeat a dozen times just to get right. I guess in my younger gaming days this would've seemed cool, trying to master a button switch, then a running double jump combo of some sort, but now it just seems tedious. I'd rather fight bad guys or explore or watch the story unfold. Combat is also very bland outside of boss fights. The boss fights are your usual scripted mess but they work, I did not find them dull or tedious for some reason, I rather liked them. Also the rpg elements of this game are too watered down to have a serious impact on gameplay. It takes FOREVER to level up weapons, they might as well have no increased benefits. It would've been a better game if they have made the leveling up matter more and easier to do so you could specialize War (the name of your character) more. The scenery is a bit drab too. Very grey and repetitive. Otherwise I did like the visuals. It's a solid game especially at this price, just don't be expecting a must play classic, but rather an enjoyable action adventure game you won't feel like you wasted your time playing.

Zelda meets God of War....and it Rocks!

After Platinum'ing this game on the PS3 I remember replaying the PC version, both versions are great. The game essentially is a combination of many various genres and other games, however in this case it works very well. Story: Without spoiling anything, I'll just say that the story actually progresses with each segment, you never feel like you are doing something without a purpose, and as well as progressing the main plot, there's a lot of other really cool encounters you will see in your adventure Gameplay: As stated earlier - This game is a combination of many various genres and styles and it works very well, the combat feels fluid and fun, the items and powers you receive allow you to explore the environment and even though this game is technically not "open world" you will go back often to explore new locations and often find new pleasant surprises. This game also has a lot of creative bosses and it feels really rewarding after beating each one. Graphics: Although perhaps on a technical level, this game isnt very impressive, from an artistic standpoint, it's absolutely amazing with a 10/10, you can thank renowned comic book artist Joe Madureira for that. This game truly has a sleek and stunning style which is very pleasant to look at, with detailed and colourful environments. Sound: While the soundtrack of this game is nothing overly special or memorable, it does the job well with its orchestrated soundtrack, not much to add here, it works but it doesn't really have anything you will be humming to yourself after you finish the game. Overall: Even if the game has some flaws in certain places (The beams, redirect the beams) I would still really recommend it to everyone, it's a great action adventure that keeps you wanting playing until the great finale 5 out of 5 Star Rating P.S: Uriel is hot P.P.S: No, not alone

Play it, play it now!

This is game is outright amazing. You go into it expecting a hack 'n slash game, but it surprises you with so much more. If this game needs to be compared to any other, i would compare it with the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Especially playing through it on the PS3. Yes, you read that right, Zelda. OoT is so present in the game, you might wonder if it is a reskin+upgrade. Dungeons mimic the old temples with puzzles, fighting and bossbattles rewarding a heartcontainer. The worldmap looks very similar and shares mechanics aswell. Your items include a boomerang(shuriken), the bow(gun) and even a hookshot as well as many others. And ofcourse, you get a horse that you can use that bow... -errr gun, from. Like OoT, progress of the story is linear, but the world is packed with secrets and upgrades. Piece of hearts exist with new names and the system is adopted to also work with your power or "wrath" bar. Skulltulas are replaced with Legion tokens but work the same way. There is also a "sidequest" to give you a great, op upgrade ala biggoron sword. Play it yourself, and you will see many, many more similarities. Combatwise, the game is very smooth with many evolving/growing moves. High mobility and and interesting foes will keep you on edge, atleast if you play on the higher difficulty. The combat is too easy otherwise. Theme-wise, youre on the now devasted earth where mankind is extinct following a war between Heaven and Hell. Lots of religious references and a slightly gothic(not the game) feel while you stand off alone against both factions. Be the biblical Frank Castle!

Frustrating controls...

It could be a great game, but the controls are a bit complex with mouse and keyboard. Also the camera view and the saving points are typical for a console game and sucks sometimes. Frustrating... Pro: - Nice graphic and good sound... My opinion: Wait for a sale, if you want to buy this game.
