Tokyo Xanadu eX+

A Game only a Weeb could like

Typical example of how weeb adulation destroyed the Japanese game industry. Ok so lets try to forget this game is over 50% a visual novel, and an ugly 3d one at that. Lest forget the lazy dungeon design where you go through similar looking corridors with different colour schemes over and over. Lets forget the story that would make a 10 year old cringe. Nope all this was not enough. They had to add game breaking bugs, that depending on your saving habit, could make you start the game from scratch. Example: you are in a dungeon and you clear a "warning!" room, but instead of going forward you decide to go back and save. Now when you get back to the "warning" room, you get the warning message, all exists close, but you have no enemy to fight. You cannot exit the dungeon if you reload from the save point, and you are stuck, so if you dont have a previous save, you have to start from scratch. If you have a previous save, you will have to endure an hour or so of pathetic visual nove dialogue in order to advance. Without the game breaking bugs, the game would be "its so bad its good" With the bugs, the game is simply so bad its bad. Go on weebs, praise this game so the japtards will give you more "weebtastic" games like this, the japtard developers will never evolve, they dont need to, they can continue their diarheea of games like this, and they dont need to worry about getting better, because the weebs will always support them no matter what.

Arena boss combat, nothing else

Its a good thing i didnt pay anything for this game, it came free with the prorder of Absolver....well its not exactly free but anyway. For me this is a very disappointing game, and its obvious how the developer took the approach of "minimal effort" to game design. The gameplay consists exclusively of battling boss-type enemies in a circular arena, there is nothing else to say about the gameplay. You get from one arena to another through cutscenes, where the story is presented to you. During these cutscenes you have the choice of holding W to make your character advance (giving you an illusion of interactivity), or you can just press the space bar to make the character auto-advance for a full cutscene experience. Seriously thats all there is to this game. The art-style is a matter of taste and you can judge that from pics or videos, i find it good albeit basic. The combat is what you would expect from a boss fight, it takes some (extensive) pattern learning and a good dose of timing before you can succeed. In this respect the fights are well done. To sum it up, i feel like this is an incomplete game, where the developer simply skipped adding a world and standard mobs to the boss fights. Wildly overpriced for what it is.

Big Pharma

Remove this from GoG please

This corporate propaganda title does not belong on GoG and should be removed out of respect for the values that GoG claims to represent.

Lula: The Sexy Empire

Another GoG failure

Good old games, thats what GoG stands for, correct? How about Good old games brought back from the grave in a disfunctional state? This is not about the Lula game, which is a good game for what it tries to achieve, this is about the GoG implementation of the game, which is horrible, bordering on disfunctional. Sorry GoG, but if you are not able to make an old game functional on a new system, better not bring it on GoG. The whole idea of supporting GoG was that i could still play my old games that are no longer functional, on new OS and systems....well this game is only partially functional at best, so it defies the purpose of buying it in the first place.

Kenshi

Talent without common sense is worthless

A few facts: Kenshi has been in early access for over ten years. Kenshi has been in alpha for over ten years. The game still looks, feels and plays like alpha. Several years ago when it released on Steam, the game looked and played better than it does now. Since the Steam release, there have been several attempts to improve the graphics, efforts led by a motley crew of people working for free for the benefit of the developer, with the expected results, namely total failure and loss of value. The developer kept adding elements that dont fit, thus destroying the balance, followed by constant failed attempts to restore the balance that resulted in making the game not fun at all. Initially this game was a fantastic concept (for its time), a superb achievement of a single developer, followed by the utter destruction of everything that he achieved by a foolish excess of ambition and lack of common sense. The lesson to learn here is that talent alone is not enough. I would have gladly recommended this game in the version that was released on Steam several years ago, not the incoherent mess that it was turned into today.

Prehistorik 1+2

The Dark Ages of PC Gaming

I recently played Prehistorik and some of the 3D Realms collection games that i bought in a bundle. Found it fascinating to see what garbage was released on the PC when console players were enjoying masterpieces like Zelda, Mario, Sonic, Phantasy Star, Final Fantasy, Castelvania, Metroid, Mega Man, Shinobi....i could go on and on. I was late on the PC scene, my first PC dates 2002, and i thought PC games were always superior....how wrong i was. In the early 90s consoles were at least two generations ahead of the PC in terms of graphics and game design.

Kerbal Space Program

Special, Good, Overrated, Overpriced

Kerbal is a very special game that will offer you a unique (albeit flawed) gaming experience. To my knowledge there is no other game like it. There is something addictive and very satisfying about tinkering to build a rocket and then figuring the controls and the orbital mechanics. This game is a joy to figure out and learn, and it offers many hours of tinkering fun, but once you figured things out you will realise how limited and underdeveloped the game is. The concept of this game is awesome, sadly its a game developed by a lazy team that decided to rest on the laurels of a brilliant idea while milking the gullible to the max. Its a good game but not great, it offers a unique experience but its limited. Dont believe the hype based on the first few hours of gameplay, and above all dont believe Scott Manley's advertorials. For what it offers this game is very overpriced even with the 30% discount. Wait for a REAL discount that is bound to come.
