My problem is not with the game per se, my problem is with what they are selling it for. When you sell a game for such a price, you should provide a professional competent game, not an amateur attempt like this. This game is a failure on every metric: graphics, gameplay, story, balance...nothing works well. An indie amateur attempt trying to impersonate a triple A title. Knowing your place and selling yourself accordingly goes a long way towards recognition and success. This game would be acceptable for $20-30, but for the price they are selling it, it's a scam. No variation in graphics, lack of detail, re-used assets to hell and back, lackluster level design, the story is AWOL, a mere placeholder, item and craft system that was done better in $10 indie games. Usually i never refund games on GoG out of principle, but for this game i made an exception, reluctantly but i had to, the game is too weak, too expensive.
Even in it's unfinished early access state, the game has quite a bit to offer, and the price is good, moreso if you get it on special. For a game of this kind, it offers solid gameplay, many choices and consequences, multiple endings with multiple end game areas with their own set of quests. The combat, equipment and stats are surprisingly good for this kind of game. The changes that occur when you wear or not wear certain items and their effects are a pleasant surprise, again unexpected from a game of this kind. This being said, you are reminded often that the game is not finished by many quirks and inconsistencies. All in all a pleasant game experience, despite the fact i did not like the art style and that many H-scenes were rather disgusting to my taste, so i skipped them a lot. The game story is about an evil corporation trying to take over the world by artificially enhancing the sex drives of the population, turning them all into sex addicts. This is actually a good theme in my opinion. The problem starts when this main theme interferes with the lesbian gameplay promise the devs made. Sure the main char is a girl and she has a girlfriend and there are the usual lesbian tropes in the game, one of the endings is purely lesbian love, there are the standard lesbian submission domination and humiliation cliches...BUT....the problem is that given the main theme of the game, the characters (including the main char) can become sex addicts depending on player choices, and as such the female main char will actually enjoy sex with males and that, for lesbians, is a deadly sin, a no-no. From a lesbian player point of view this is correct, but if the game was made for lesbians alone, it would tank horribly, since only a small percentage of women are lesbians. The mistake of the devs was to promise too much lesbian content, the mistake of the lesbian players was to start hating without even considering the story background and the feasability of their demands.
This kind of game belongs to a very specific category called trolling games. Not trying to bash trolling games, they can be fun for some players, and they have their fair share of fans, but the game should be tagged as such, so buyers would know what they are actually buying.
The small team that developed this game, set their goals unrealistically high, and un-surprisingly they did not achieve everything they wanted, but they did achieve surprisingly much. The game stands out from the start with its intense atmosphere, outstanding art-style and the extremely detailed world. The story is exceptional and unique, also very well told. There is a lot of lore information and the quests are quite meaningful, even the most mundane delivery mission can have unexpected moral twists and turns. Matter of taste, but i found the combat to be very interesting and engaging. What seems at first as an unfair difficulty curve, turns out to be quite easy IF the player is willing to invest the effort to understand the combat mechanics and the equipment functionality. Also worth mentioning that some missions that you can pursue from the start, are very hard or not even doable unless you have a minimum of equipment and/or skills. This will probably frustrate some players, since its a dated design, but i enjoyed this aspect. Despite considering that the game deserves 5 stars, i have to mention some shortcomings, that depending on player taste and expectations, might or might not be important for you. There are some bugs, most of the big ones have been ironed out in the last patch, but there are still some left (some text is in russian, some armor can not be repaired, the hunger meter goes off screen when hunger advances). The inventory management is awkward, but a lot of problems can be avoided by using the "sort" button frequently. Armor and weapon degrading plays an arguably excessive role, you will spend a lot of resources keeping your equipment up to snuff. Managing your resources (money, ammo, repairs, food, equipment) successfully, requires some effort and understanding. No teleports and fast travel. Depending on how you go about doing the quests, some may become unavailable/unfinishable. This game is among the best i played and most unique.
