I've been eagerly awaiting Cyberpunkt since it was first announced, and I also jumped at the first opportunity long before it was released. Expectations were high. Too high? The first thing you notice is the impracticality of cars. I've played Project Zomboid in the meantime, where cars are easier to control. I've driven a lot of cars, even those with more horsepower than they're good for, but the way the cars move through Nightcity hurts. Then follow the quest with the car. All nicely controlled events with behavior that no driver would exhibit - at least not in total. The cars also feel wrong, because on the road the distant lights are not cars but fade-ins that disappear as you get closer. And like that, much of Night City feels empty and lifeless. There are no interactions outside of the quests and the quests are often very limited. Love interests allow you to meet, cuddle a bit and always have the same conversations. Merchants often don't even want to talk to you, most of the stalls are just fake. Don't geht me wrong, everything looks good, like the game was close to be great, but finally it's all fake: You play your main story and to few quests in a lifeless fake world. It feels like a themeparc attraction with nice fronts and no inner life.
I died multiple times, killed by the knight at the End of Chapter II. I aim at the rings, shoot when it turns yellow but sometimes the rings can't be it. Then I need to get killed again to reload the game. Then I was able to shoot of the complete armour but wasn't fast enough for the headshot, then multiple bugs occurs. The knights doesn't get stucked, there are no more stones, the rings don't fall if it. Again and again I tried it. Besides that I didn't played much story. It's just running and hiding. I think there are no dialogs with options. The graphics are mediocre. The faces are empty and no emotion is shown, compared to witcher 2 or 3 which are much older they are awful. Not always the right action is done. For example when it shows space bar for climbing it doesn't always work. So far at the end of chapter two there has been no story at all. I don't even know what's the difference between chapter one and two. they are so short, perhaps 30 or 40 minutes of running and hiding. There are no options. If you run the wrong way you are dead. There is only one way and one option each time. Perhaps everything comes after that fight that I can't win, but till that point it's nothing I can recommend. And lately there are a lot of games I can't recommend. It's 1 star for me. I will try it again with the knight and if I am able to get a run that works I will take another look and give feedback.
Well the puzzles are nice, but as the story - yes there is a story - doesn't motivate you in any way, the game is not the experience it could be. It's a bit of an indie portal clone with no portal gun but two gloves to manipulate special items. The graphics are minimalistic: just colored blocks. There is no enemy, no voice making fun and it's short. So is it worth 9 Euros? It may be if you like puzzles and don't expect something else. If you are looking for a complete game experience it's not.
I am a great fan of the wichter series and I liked the Cyberpunk PnP RPG so I bought it before it came out. The start was disappointed it didn't look done. No after some years I tried it again and ... it's awful. It seems like a graphic novel where your choices are just to make you think it's a game. Most times there are only max two choices and the difference is up to non existent. So okay, I got it - no decisions. Then why do I press F for that? I don't get it. The controls are awful. I tried the VR fight for training. Okay so I understood how to fight. But in the final round. Even counter-attacking was a challenge for me. I tried everything the AI told me, but it took me 100 attempts to counter twice. I actually think it wasn't even me, because after that came the dodge. So I dodged the opponent and he still hit me every time, even though he was sometimes up to two body lengths away and aimed in a different direction. Again, a hundred attempts to dodge three times. The vehicle controls are modest. Even Project Zomboid has much more sophisticated controls and this is an indie game in beta. Although I bought the complete package with all the content that was available at the time, CD Project now wants to sell me yet another DLC. That too is actually ridiculous. To be honest, I shouldn't have bought the game. The controls are terrible, the story is straightforwardly inescapable and the bugs are still there. The money is thrown away - my opinion.
So the game itself is interesting and kind of fun. It's a really good Zombie game, no question. It has a lot of potential but it's far from finished. I restarted several times. At first I didn't knew how to play, so I was finshed soon. The next time I was spawned in the middle of a horde and, yeah the first walk outside killed me - I had nowhere to go. I tried the Sandbox, but there are always to many zombies around. Sometimes there is no food, once there were no tools. It took me two weeks to find a hammer. There are a lot cans, but - except in sanbox where you can find a can opener - I don't know how to use them. The game crashed multiple times while loading and the start takes more than 90 seconds with a black screen before the first loading text appears. I don't what is done (the processor or the ssd don't work at that time). Yeah, it could be fun, but it needs a bit more balancing. This time all houses near are out of food (except cans) and don't have any tools inside, but there are zombies. So I sneak around the first buildings to find a place to raid. I read there is actually a new beta (the whole game is beta) and so hopefully there will be new updates soon. I bought it for 20 Euros. That's okay if the development goes on, but it's too much for a game in this state if it was dropped by the developer.
Die Story is okay, das Gameplay ist okay, aber das ganze ist einfach nur buggy. Immer wieder bleibt man selbst oder Feinde hängen. Die Grafik ist furchtbar für das Jahr 2005. In dem Jahr erschien auch Resident Evil 4 oder Knights of the old republic 2 oder F.E.A.R. oder Half-Life 2.
The positiv aspects: Easy to play. Just take everything you can get, even if you don't know why. Each part of the game is really simple, because there are only few rooms with few objects. The game is short. Negative aspects: I can't get it started in FullHD, because "there is no driver" so I play it windowed in a smaller resolution. The dialogs start to run through from time to time, so you can't read them. Easy to handle: Just save and reload. The dialogs are very long. I can't say they are not funny... I found two jokes, I could smile about. And a lot of mediocre jokes about dirt, testicle and dirt. Did I mention dirt? Not often enough. Okay, you can read long, really boring dialogs if you like that if not you have to click through them. Then just take a look at the story: Ben is dead and must be revived with a rocket in his ass. Yeah! Fun! And then we are back home and want to watch TV. That's really a fantasic start and I loved to help them to watch TV. I even thought about quitting the game and watching TV myself. Next, we just made the TV work again, we are ported to a spaceship with doors to many dimensions. Everywhere is a single item that works as a key. Yeah! So cool! Not! I won't spoiler the rest for those who like to play it, but it won't get any better. Coming to audiovision aspects of the game. To be honest, I had to start the game again when writing this review because I forgot all about it. So I visited some places again and... yes, it has sound. The graphics are not my style. I don't mind simple or retro graphics, but the animations and graphics don't catch me. They are awful and they don't even support the jokes. So, is the bundle of two games worth 4 Euros, you might ask yourself. To be true it's not that question. The question is, do you really got two or three hours of your lifetime for such a substandard game with drunkard humor? If you don't, don't buy it, don't play it.
