this is one of those games that you are either going to love or hate, there is no middle of the rode here, i did not like this game at all, found the levels very disorienting and confusing, TRIED to like this game SEVERAL times but it just isn't for me....but maybe it is for you?
the GOOD=it will run on older systems. the BAD=just about everything else, the controls, the visuals and just the general gameplay and game mechanics. i had ZERO fun trying to play this game, i do not advise anyone to buy this crap game.
i only mess around in the editor with these games, i have never even tried to beat the missions, so if you liked playing with plastic soldiers as a kid then you will love messing around with the sandbox editor. the original game looked really bad but would run on just about any PC out there, this one looks sooo much better but those visuals come at a price, you need to have a half decent PC to run it!!! it's fun going in the editor and creating battles. one thing that really bothers me though....the original game had female civilians, this one doesn't. ???? what the hell??? i was sooo upset about this because the character models in this game look really nice so it was a real let-down to not see any ladies in this incarnation of the arma series....for that reason it loses 2 points.
bought still life 1 and 2 here on GOG, could not get the first to work despite my best efforts and a considerable amount of cursing. this one DOES work, i have no idea if this game is any good or not, i am simply giving it a 3 star for actually STARTING.
i just don't get it? you can use your mouse on the MENU screens but when it comes to actually controlling the turning of your bike you have to use the KEYBOARD? i keep crashing into walls because the people who made this game didn't have enough IQ to understand that a game like this needs to use a MOUSE to have proper control. how could they think that this wouldn't be a big problem for people?

CANNOT CREATE RENDERER.....that's what i get when i try to play this game? i really don't understand how GOG can justify putting games up for sale that DON'T WORK. very incompetent in my opinion. this isn't the first GOG game where i have run into this problem either, and considering they have been doing this thing for a while now you would think they would be better at it, way to SUCK GOG!!! very dissapointing.
the Minimum system requirements are not going to be enough to run this game. 1.5ghz 512mb ram 3dcard yeah good luck with that. I put this on my windows 7 pc with a 1.60ghz and 2gb ram and 3dcard, even with all details set to lowest in addition to checking the RUN GAME 640*480 resolution on the compatibility tab and my pc STRUGGLES to run this game smooth. may I suggest a NEW minimum Minimum system requirements for this game...….. how about this...…… 2ghz processor 4gbs ram good 3d card. I think this is a much more realistic Minimum system requirement.
hmmm......let's see, I tried to get this up and running on both a windows7 and a windows 10 pc and could not get them working, tried compatibility modes and running as admin but the game DOES NOT WORK, in compatibility mode for the recommended OP system I get an "this program was unable to start correctly 0xc0000142" error message thing? what the HELL gog???? why would you advertise this game as working on windows 7 and 10 when CLEARLY it does not?????? even tried the other compatibility modes just to see what would happen, NOTHING. if this program is so problematic then why not include it with a windows emulator or something? you messed up big time guys and gals at gog, you let me down.
have never really played through the main campaign, tried it out but really lost interest, the skirmish mode however I have played very much and it is very addictive, you don't really need a 2ghz processor to play this it will run on less if you crank the details low. my only complaint would be the lack of larger maps to play on, it could do with a few more maps in general. if you enjoy RTS games then you will enjoy this one.
