When peoples' main complaint with a game is that they want more of it, you know they are onto something. This title is a very impressive achievement, clearly inspired by the adored RPG title Arx Fatalis. A labyrinthine world filled with traps, enemies, and secrets. The game does not do many cutscenes, the worldbuilding and narrative devices are present via dialogue, letters/journal entries, and the world itself. There are clever and entertaining dungeons and sprawling open areas filled with not only enemies but merchants, NPCs, multiple clever (but mostly solvable) puzzles, and quests. Unlike other crawlers, I found Monomyth to be filled with pleasant little surprises around many corners, despite it's EA state. There are about 15 hours of gameplay in EA as of 10/6/2024.
Could one short review reflect the genius of EYE Divine Cybermancy by Streum On Studio? This game is an existential descent into madness, and absolutely oozes style. It was built on Valve's source engine, and presents a variety of character builds and options. This game is clearly a labor of love, and might take you a couple of tries to pick it up... but look at that rating. 4.9/5, 5/5? Damn! People love this game. Will you be one of them?
