Description

The version of the game sold on GOG is a single-player only edition – it means online and LAN modes are not accessible.

As a member of the strange secret society E.Y.E, you wake up after a fight in which your fellow teammates were killed. E.Y.E, an armed branch of the Secreta Secretorum is attempting a coup against the all-powerful Federation, a coalition of several worlds and planets that rule with an iron fist.
To complicate matters, E.Y.E itself is plagued with its own internal conflicts between the Jian faction and the Culter faction, to which you belong. Your loyalties are torn between Commander Rimanah, your superior and the chief of the Secreta who is a separatist with an unstoppable ambition, and the "Mentor" your friend and instructor. The "Mentor" tries at all costs to unite the two rival factions. In doing so, you are thrust into the middle of a fratricidal war frought with political conspiracies and quests for power in which different groups and megacorporations are implicated.
These troubles set the stage for an attack by an unknown force bent on destroying humankind.

The perfect confluence.

When it comes to describing EYE, they should've sent a poet. It's hard to know where to begin. EYE wears its homage to and inspiration from various other massively popular science fiction media on its sleeve and transforms these constituent parts into something entirely its own. The worldbuilding is fascinating, the atmosphere is dense, the plot is esoteric, the dialogue is baffling, and the gameplay runs the gamut from tactical pseudo-immersive sim shooter to first person cyber-deity power fantasy depending on how the player tunes their options and builds their character. It's easier to sell the game by describing some of the ludicrous abilities, weapons, and twists it contains, but to do so would be to spoil the surprise. If you're the type to thrive on systems-laden gameplay then you'll discover something TRULY exceptional here. Just get it.

Games like EYE are becoming rarer

EYE is the quintessential 'B' Euro-jank title - right from the legacy of Neurohunter, Pathologic and STALKER There was a time where you would pick up these games and see wild and unrealistic ambition from the get-go, but they still made it happen (or, at the very least tried to) and came out with these small gems. No mass appeal and very flawed but, there's a passion and true love that went into making them that lead to them becoming cult classics These games probably still exist, but are now buried under such deep oceans of low-effort Unity titles and meme games that it's become harder to find them EYE has been built from a combination of weird genius and love that, unfortunately, you will either 'get' straight away or be left bewildered and confused. The mechanics are opaque, your mission vague, and the world bizarre and nonsensical (if you follow the story, this is very intentional - you're experiencing things the way the protagonist does. this is not at any point, however, made clear. at all) The english localisation weaves between confronting and puerile - there is a fan project to 'fix' this, and while it makes the game more playable, it eliminates the charm and awareness of the original - it's like the narrated Theatrical Cut of Blade Runner versus the Director's Cut So - should you buy this? No. Not at all. God no, I only like it because I'm an idiot. Buy the studio's newest game - it's also quite good and easier to get into. But if you do give EYE a shot, it is truly brilliant in its own way. Just know what you're in for

Slightly janky cyberpunk FPS RPG.

But it's slightly janky in a fun, charming way. You go through levels shooting stuff up, and completing objectives. It has a Deus Ex/RE4 style waffle (grid) inventory. You research items like it's friggen Starcraft to gain bonuses and whatnot. Also I remember this game kinda running like beans at times, but then again that's Source 1 and it's 32bit shenanigans, among other stuff. So if it chugs on your 5000$ PC, don't worry, it's just Source 1 freaking out at open areas and badly optimized LOD. You buy/get equipment from a vending cube thing... I think. It's been a while since I played this game. A soulless vending machine that gives you gear, reminds me of Tribes. Yo GoG, put all the older Tribes games on here, yknow the games with the exploding plasma disc gun launcher and massive, absolutely massive levels. Especially that one with the singleplayer campaign. Or was that a mod...? I remember playing a demo of it a hundred million years ago... Anyway, again, you have limited space, so you have to pick your loadout carefully. If I remember correctly the inventory was kind of OG X-Com style, where you have a standard backpack space, then you have like 2-4 pockets or someother. Fit pistols and grenades there, etc. Did I mention there's a two handed sword that explodes on physical contact? There's a sword that explodes when it meets an enemy's face. I call it the Exploder Blade. You can also wear heavier armor, but it encumbers you, as well as carrying more stuff in general also encumbers you and slows you down. Then there's a bunch of augments to aquire, as well as powers, etc. I think this is the only Source engine game on GoG, other than Vampire. Put more Source games on here, like Dark Messiah, please. I need my Arx Fatalis - Thief - Stings like an RPG - Lite.

Peering Beyond The Pale

Could one short review reflect the genius of EYE Divine Cybermancy by Streum On Studio? This game is an existential descent into madness, and absolutely oozes style. It was built on Valve's source engine, and presents a variety of character builds and options. This game is clearly a labor of love, and might take you a couple of tries to pick it up... but look at that rating. 4.9/5, 5/5? Damn! People love this game. Will you be one of them?

A weird and clunky gem

Oh boy, this game is really difficult to review because in this case I guess the less you know the better It's a shooter with rpg elements taken place in a grim dark future where there is only war (the lore was heavily inspired by WH40K). You play as a warrior-monk of some secret organisation-order and this order tries to sort out... things. When you start this game you have absolutely no clue about what's going on and tbh by the end of the game you feel pretty much the same as the plot here is quite convoluted. But that feel of not knowing anything really makes you push forward and uncover the whole story (but it may take a couple of tries) Overall atmosphere is gorgeous. The last time I felt something similar was when I played Morrowind. There is just so many things that are, well, alien to you, from language (in the game everyone speaks strange futuristic language which you cannot understand) to enemies, some locations and even the looks of people (and aliens) EYE has a tons of features which I could describe here but the review would be too long in this case. Let's just say that in the dark cyberpunk future you can become as close to the machine as you want. You can take you enemies in many different ways, not just by shooting but by using more sophisticated techniques (how about hacking enemy's minds and burn their brains out from afar?). However you should be ready that the game has some technical imperfections. Some locations are poorly optimized and will likely run slower that others, even if you have RTX 3090 and 666 gb of ram. but it's tolerable and far from being a deal breaker To sum it up, I recommend this game to anyone who wants to try something different than ordinary shooter and dive deep into weird grim world with even weirder plot and lots of game mechanics.
