So im re-playing the old version od XIII and figured that since the remake was omn sale for about a dollar well... why the hell not check it? bottom line, same game, different graphics and some mechanics are changed such the ability to aim down sights. My advicwe: stick with the original, the new grqphics cahnge what gave the original it's "cult status". The cel shaded comic style was what made the game a fun and somewhat unique experiemce- this is just a bad restoration- like that painting of Jesus that was restored that looks like something a second grader migght paint. The ADS feature doen'r do the player any favors and the frame rate is BAD.
This is a title i never got to play when it released and subsequently forgot all about but here we are decades later and im having a blast, literally. Had a devil of a time re-binding the keys to WASD and figuring out that when configuring the mouse buttins you got to use the arrow keys to choose the function- unless your'e stuck with a laptop with a mouse and are like me, content to use the space bar as a the fire button and tap the mouse pad to jump as i've done with past games. so that and a clear lack of explanation as to how to zoom in with the sniper scope (it's #6 button- not on the numpad) among a few other quibbles with lack of direction this game is a gem and i highly recommend it.
game reminds me of a less tactical Socom set in ww2- the only drawbacks i found in the two games ive played in this series are the sudden difficulty spikes and the fact that you cant direct your squad to move to a certain point; you can take indiviual control of your squad mates which kinda makes up for this but the ability to send a squaddie forward to scout the way is kind of frustrasting, that said, you can order formation types which is kind of a bonus and gives the game a bit of replay value. swapping between controlled characters also adds to the replayablitiy. i find it kinda fun to swap out a character when the character im using proves to be ineffcient at command.
if you're purist I'd go with this version over the remake but if you're into flashy graphics and modern control schemes this might not me be your thing. However, if you can tolerate the boomer shooter look there's a really fun and deep experience to be had here. plus this wil be kinder to your wallet
I always wanted to play this as i own the rest of the Arkham series on Xbox ONE but it has since been delisted from the marketplace so imagine my surpise when i found that, not only was it on GOG but it was on sale $1.99. So, like everything ive been buying on GOG lately this also was an impulse purchase as i wasn't sure if my potato PC could handle it let alone run it off a cheap external had drive that i just received today fom Amazon and the good news is that yes, it works and runs superbly off both and now im once again kicking butt as Batman, trying my best to act out the warehouse scene from BVS (another piece of underated Batman media) with every fight. Trust me, this is a true Arkham game and is a worthy entry in the series.
I don't have a great gaming rig, just a 2013 Dell with Intel graphics 4600 integrated and I noticed the horrid frame rate right off the bat. Had to mess around with changing the resolution and that created a host of problems so I switched back to the default 1024 x 768 and changed the view distance to 'Low'. This changed everything. Got it running just about as good as it'll get which by my experienced eyes is a stable 30 frames per second. You may need to restart your pc after installing which I had to do after the Initial attempt at optimization but if it works for me on my potato of a pc it should work for most people. As for the game- it reminds me of a WW2 Socom. Haven't got too far as I'm kinda binging on these good old games but I can assure it works and it's
So I own this game on Android and Xbox and no Matter the platform this game is worth the $. I was a fan of Doorkickers 1 on Mobile and this morning I decided to buy it on GOG so I could play on PC. Now I'm gonna make 3rd purchase because this is a game with such high replay value it's worth owning on multiple platforms. Even if you get through all the missions you got multiple characters with different abilities AND you get a zombie invasion mode which sees you completing the same missions but with zombies! That's some serious bang for your buck right there!
been looking for this game forever, havinng played it back in the days of the og xbox and or the life of me couldn;t find it anywhere. and now i see it on Gog and its almost a remaster with how crisp and shiny it is. im so happy to once again be able to play this title i didn't even flinch at the $14.99 price tag as anything remaster on console would probably be twice that price. so , for those who aren;t familiar, this is an alternate history type of game with the soviets having pretty much won the cold war and invaded America, you play as a regular Joe Blow plumber whose brother has ben taken prisoner and and now you 're caught up in a resistance effort and given command of a squad of freedom fighters with the intention of taking back your homeland. You can issue basic commands and try different approaches to the various combat scenarios youll encounter but one word of warning; the game is short. Like very very short, Ive decided this time around that i would extend the longevity of this ganme by playing on a higher difficulty and it defintely does make it difficult however this also forces you to play more tactically which for me is perfect. Others may find playing this on the default difficulty the way to go but once again, it's a short game but it does leave a lasting impression so i say judge for yourself which difficulty level suits you best. Whichever difficulty you choose you won;t ever forget this game,
