Overall there is nothing terible about mm9 but its just doesn't grab you the same way the 6 7 8 did . It has a new engine but always feels a bit awkward and substance that made previous three games memorable is not there. The graphics are not bad but graphics are never a deal breaker for older games. do think they could have done much more with this then they did. I do recommend it with the knowledge that don't goto into fter playing 8 and thinking its going to be a better version of that. I can work on 10 but yes it does have its issues.

I never played the 3d catacomb games but I did the 3d ones years ago. They are simple but still fun none-the-less. Is the level design pretty basic yes but it still isn't bad. These games would lay the ground work for castle wofenstein and then doom and beyond. If I had never played these before would I pick them up I don't know but its fun remembering though. This back when games still required a bit of imagination get immersed. Trust me back in the day CGA then VGA was so amazing and now seems archaic. Its a fun little series. It would be cool if someone remade the series but probably not. Its only 6 dollars folks.

Besides the fairy rpg most spiders games are pretty much the same just building a little or a lot on the mechanics of the previous game. Play technomancer then this game and this game you see inspite of a lot of improvements it plays basically the same, Its weird non open world creation until you realize that it just looks big and open but it really is not. unlike technomancer I did find myself getting tired of the tedium a little faster. It is a good direction for spiders to go but its not a 5 star affair compared to recent rpg titles. It looks good and the story is ok and combat has a few good moments but at least for me it wears thin fairly quicly when you get beyond the dazzle. I say give it ago but keep in mind its a spiders game.

The way it works reminds a lot of grimrock but its a alot more then that. One thing that the two share in common is there is a lot of puzzles and some are easy awhile some take a few minutes to figure out. It also as others point out does call back to first person rpgs of old but takes a modern twist with it. I like the steampunk type theme in it and how it fits into the combat and overall story. Its not an easy game but quite enjoyable. I am not going to lie and tell you its easy because even after playing a decent number of rpgs had to watch a youtube video to make it through a few puzzles. I recomend it to anyone.
