Might and Magic® 7: For Blood and Honor®

the best m&m in the series

in my opinion, the best might and magic in the series. you start off on kind of a tutorial island with a unique atmosphere and is fun to explore, and the rest of the game keeps up to it. i don't know what the level designers do to this game, but there's really only a few other games that managed to create such unique nostalgic like atmosphere, right from the first time you play it, and exploring the world is therefore so much fun. m&m6 was fun indeed, m&m8 ok too, but this is the only single piece in the series made in this engine that despite the relatively low polygon count and not very quality 2d sprite renders manage to create a surprisingly personal open world with a good balanced gameplay that never leaves you hanging where you wouldn't know where to go next, or always provide something extra if you didn't want to progress with the main story line right away

The Real Texas

The most rewarding experience in years

i will never forget this surreal nostalgic ride. i haven't had such a rewarding experience in a long time. first thing, the setting and the low-fi atmosphere; this exactly fit the game story and the world. when you arrive to the strange texas you feel like you're at home. you know, the kind of feeling you get when you remember your childhood days riding bikes on warm, sunny august evenings. i know a lot of people will not appreciate the low 8-bit voxel-like graphics but it worked magically for me in the setting. the gameplay and story were perfect as well. the game isn't your new-gen "get from point a to b and here are some hints on how to walk, with checkpoint every 3 minutes", no. the game doesn't fork around. you are left with clues which you have to work out by yourself and as the story progresses, the world opens more and more, gradually raising the gameplay difficulty. this is the spirit of the old school adventures with a lot of exploration with some arcade mechanics (weapons and enemies). of course, the mentioned arcade mechanics are not perfect rpg-mechanics as in diablo 2 or something. these shooting-avoiding things mechanics are simple arcade clickfest based on reflexes, but surprisingly fun and do not feel broken or cheap. all in all, you develop emotional connection to the characters and the world itself, while having great time thinking about the clues, exploring the land and brush on your old school point-and-click adventure skills and some arcade skills as well. without exaggeration, this is most likely the best indie game i've played in years. definitely recommended.

99 Levels to Hell

below mediocre experience

i have no idea why this is being sold for actual money. it feels, looks and plays like a generic freeware game that you download to kill a few hours of a boring day. and you won't even have a feeling of satisfaction after playing it. absolutely no-buy. the only really cool thing about this game is the soundtrack, really

Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader

disappointing game

it tried hard to be a good baldur's gate clone but in the end it ended up being a really boring rpg with exaggerated amount of text

Waking Mars

Absolute waste of money

While i am very fond of innovative platformers, innovative doesn't always mean entertaining. It starts off ok, you get immersed really fast, the learning phase will keep you hooked for a while. But as you play for an hour or two you realize the repetitiveness of this game and where it will bore you for the rest of the game, that starts dragging on for too long like a snot. Everything is the same since one point- get into a room, grind (seed plants until you get enough flora), move on. And grind part isn't neither entertaining, nor challenging. I guess you can enjoy this game if you have a fetish for discovering pictures of species invented by game developers, but if you are a normal gamer you will be bored. The "game" element of the game is very weak. At first i wanted to give the game 2/5 for trying to invent something new, but after realizing it costs 10 frigging dollars and is one of the costier games in here i decided to fully flame it- 1/5. Terrible game. This game would be only good if it were a half an hour/hour long free game. Definitely not worth the money at all.
