First time that i played F.E.A.R. as of this review. I was expecting the game to be scary since i remember when it came out people said it was terrifying, but I didn't think so. The enviorments though, and the ambience and vibe, are very lonely and somewhat creepy, i really enjoyed it. Combat was good too, its your standart shooter but with well written A.I. that honestly makes me wonder how are modern games A.I. enemies still so dumb when we had this. I also think that, while the game looks quite dated now, it is very technically impressive for it's time and I really enjoyed it. Just a FYI to anyone wanting to buy this, in order to access the 2 expansions the game comes with, Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate, you have to open the installation folder and run the .exe on both FEARXP (Extranction Point) and FEARXP2 (Perseus Mandate), you can't access them through the GOG library.
Pretty much what the title says I enjoyed the game and thought the lil story was very cute and heartwarming, and the puzzles made me think quite a bit (im not that smart). I recommend you grab this on a promotion if you're interested, otherwise I don't think what the game offers justifies the full price.
I quite enjoyed this game, it has a charming art style and very simple combat style that works well enough. After finishing all the content, including the brutal mazes, my problem is I think the rebirth system makes you have to play the game too many times to have the best gear. Repeating the game about 6 times was a little bit too much, they could definatly have made it 3 times, otherwise I had a good time playing it!
I really liked the game, though it was really cute and charming. The mechanics are pretty simple, which i dont think its a bad thing in this title, and the pacing is pretty good, plus i love the overly used cat puns. The only thing keeping it from a 5 star, in my opinion, is the fact dungeons dont tell you if there is any treasure missing in them, and a lot of treasures are off the main dungeon map through invisible passages, so it was pretty frustrating to leave a dungeon just to see that i had a treasure missing and do it all over again. I'd say it's a worth buy!
