Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration

History of Gaming

First of all this product is not a game it is a history lesson of the beginning of our hobby of gaming without Atari things would be a whole lot different. What we have here is a product of our past. This is not a game this is a museum of the begining of gaming and as such you cant review this product as just being a game. There is so much here videos of the pioneers of gaming. Their stories of how it all began. You have documents, pictures an amazing amount of information both interesting and informative and alone well worth getting if you are interested in gaming past. There is also the games there is over 100 here over many years and various Atari platforms a number of them are the same game but on differnet hardware. There are games that you will only play for a minute out of curiosity but there are a large number of timeless classics that are just as playable now as back then. There is also a number of games from Atari final console the Jaguar including Tempest 2000 which is one of the finest arcade type games you can play. I know people say the price is too high if it was just a compilation of some games i would agree but this is so much more than that you are getting an absolutly massive software package which is both fun and educational and in fact the cost of Tempest 2000 was more than this when it came out so i feel that what you get is a bargin. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to visit the past play games that laid down the foundations to what we play today and hear and read about this time. I only wish that they could have given us games from the Atari ST/STE and Falcon era i feel they missed a trick there. Other publishers please note what this package has done for the history of gaming and what your companies could do to keep the hostory of gaming alive.
