TLDR: Skip it if you didn't like the first one. Gameplay is better than the first, but the narrative is less structured. More "A comedy of errors" than "Heat: The Game 2" I like this game for how well and consistently it characterizes Lynch. He kinda got dropped halfway throught the first game and the folks at IO really knocked it out of the park with this game. He mumbles and rambles during gunfights, and that'd be a really cool addition to the narrative if the audio mixing didn't fill it's pants depending on what direction you're looking in. Also turn off shakycam it was a cool idea but the camera is too tight so it's nauseating.
TLDR: Anyone saying this game was "Gritty for gritty's sake" is a lil BICH and can't handle a bleak narrative. Gameplay is servicable, kinda annoying how innacurate guns are after spitting distance, but it's servicable for what it does narratively. Performance is ass, the game stutters and chugs a lot, CTD a few times, but I did find myself jumping right back in when it did. The story carries this game. It ain't gonna change your life but if you saw and enjoyed Heat, this is darker. Tropier too, but still interesting enough to see me through it.
TLDR: Armor Piercing is the best cause it's got the best aim. Bad levels, really simplistic textures. The game is hard to look at on the whole. Totally skippable experience, even if it does some kinda cool stuff with the main weapon. REALLY limits the ammo on those last levels.
Yeah it's got anime girls but it's a solid game. It does get frustrating that death means restarting a level, especially when you die either to an instakill pit cause of a glitch, or when the frigging fireman woman shoots through corners. THROUGH corners. Also it's annoying that a lot of enemies are placed out of the player's view but I guess if the early levels didn't inspire caution that's more of a you problem.
Inoffensive, but boring also. I autoclicked my way to the end once I found it was a mobile game, and the goofy narrative just disappears at the end with no resolution so there was no reason to invest so much time. If you don't like the loop, you're not gonna like the endgame. It's just grinding for cosmetics.
Some levels are difficult to navigate with natural paths leading to dead ends. With most enemies using hitscan weapons, taking damage is unavoidable and this wouldn't be a big deal if our weapons werent so innacurate. The game is totally built around it, but it's still annoying at times. Undead enemies are annoying in general, but I think it's more that their introduction halts the pace. It ain't the masterpiece it was said to be, but it's still pretty good.
