Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain

Its a cool game and often super cheap!

Hats off to GOG for bringing this to modern PCs.

Field of Glory: Kingdoms

Very good but...

If you plan to port battles to Field of Glory Medieval, i'd recommend buying it on Steam instead as it can automatically load the game for you while here it just takes you back to Galaxy and you have to manually load it. Also, im using an old i5 because my main gaming PC broke down last year. Turn times are long if you have older hardware but it wont be an issue on newer processors.

Vagrus - The Riven Realms

Great lore and storytelling.

Though it's not one for your typical casual. Unless they are looking to broaden their horizons and immerse themselves into something a bit deeper. The game is text heavy but there are a lot of interesting systems going on, such as the trade, resource and risk management. And i am enjoying the combat (which is tactical) and exploration. It can be frustratingly difficult at times though the easier difficulty level mitigates this a bit. I was tempted to score it higher, but i reserve top rating for my favourite genre of RPGs, which are isometric (Baldurs Gate, Pillars of Eternity etc). But nontheless, i consider Vagrus to be among the best of it's sub genre. Which is the narrative focused, resource management focused adventures (this includes titles like Kingdom of Dragon Pass and Sunless Sea).

Stoneshard

Good game, but not complete yet

There is some compelling gameplay here, but the game is not fully featured yet and has been taking a very long time to leave early access. Yet development is still happening, it is not an abandoned project and i'm fairly confident it will be completed and taken to even greater heights. However, newer games with more active developers (Doors of Trithius, SoulAsh 2) are starting to take its thunder.

POSTAL 4: No Regerts

Kudos on the recent optimizations

Postal 4 always ran quite choppily on my lower scale of mid range machine. Even when installing on my SSD but with the last update it's actually running well, even on high settings and far draw distance. So i do commend them for that and continuing to update the game after the 1.0 launch which was over a year ago. The game itself however is not that great to be honest. Though there is fun to be had it falls short of the laughs postal 2 gave me back in the day. And the more recent Postal Brain Damaged is also a better game. However, on a good sale I would recommend giving it a spin if you like the humor of the other games of the franchise. Especially now it's optimization seems fixed.

Shores Unknown

Think carefully before purchase

As this otherwise promising early access game has possibly been abandoned due to the Ukraine-Russia war. There was a post from developers about a year ago that development was resuming production, this was at a time when things were looking more positive for Ukraine when it looked like they may have turned the corner in the conflict. And the government was trying to encourage small business to keep doing what they do. But no update or post at all since then and it also seems this costly war is going to drag out for a long time. I hope they can relocate and finish the game elsewhere, as with GSC and their Stalker 2 game which is being finished in Prague now. But as a very small studio it's unlikely they have the means to do so and it's possible they have been disbanded, perhaps even drafted. I recommend wish-listing to register interest, and keeping an eye on things at this point. However, there is some game to be enjoyed here and if you want to support and perhaps give a lifeline to the studio perhaps making a comeback later down the line then go ahead. But it's likelier this game has reached the end of it's production and won't be completed which is a shame as it was shaping up well.

Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls

Classic Wizardry with an Anime flavor.

It has it's own little differences but the core experience is the pretty much the same. I love the presentation of it but it's not the most user friendly for newcomers. The UI can feel a little cumbersome/unintuitive at times. But the main experience does seem to be all there. If you are new to the series I would recommend the more recent Wizardry Proving Grounds remaster that only came out about a month ago and is also on GOG but this one is not a bad choice either, though Proving Grounds felt more user friendly. Wizardry veterans should like this well, provided that they are ok with the japanese anime aesthetic. And are prepared to use a controller, which this game seems to have been designed for.

Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord

Just use a controller!

It's 2023 guys! And this is a remake for modern times! :P Seriously though, while I commend controller support for games like this, there should be mouse support. But despite of that and not owning the game yet, i'm really glad they did a remake for Wizardry, the timing is auspicious as I had recently been rediscovering and getting quite into the genre again. And it's addictive gameplay loop. Will almost certainly be getting it soon.
