This game contains enough hidden mechanics, character management and population management to at least try some planet settings. From planet types I like that each planet promote diffrent buildings for energy/food generations. Sometimes tanks or aircraft be worse than infantry depending on terrain or planet rotation. From combat mechanic that you can overcome design flaws of army with good leaders and try to figure out best cost effective ways to get ahead. Sometimes is best to flank ememy others is to have more soldiers in one unit. From population that it creates jobs for itself and helps with security(anti rebelion) health(pop grow). And try to feed themself, not necessary your armies. It's your role focus on soldiers/workers/population happines. Where consequences resoults in no new recruits/empty factories/people escaping from cities. From leaders that they got personality. Egoist are harder to please. Corrupted ones steals more money hidden from reports. Heroic are more likely to buff your armies at the cost of dying. Ambition are more pissed about jobs. Governor and OHQ Commander are bottom. Advisor and Secretary are middle. Director and SHQ are best. The better jobs gives more seniority. You got penalties/bonus for firing/hiring higher ranked ones. Also it gives better chance of being a candidate for new job.
It could be a great game but it's only end up as semi sandbox with mission goals. If mortals got better routines and your ghost could use more of commands to create better atmosphere. It's one-time fun to just scare everyone off but to have any replayability you need a deeper development that this game couldn't afford.
