Distrust

Primordia

Mr. Bree+

Woth to spend an hour - in total, alas.

Unfortunately this is a worse version a story-driven action platformer - that is, this game is worse than Steamworld, A Night in the Woods or even Momodora - which isn't a good game either. The difficulty is scaling like a pointless Mario Kaizo and the death counter is pointless, the ability gain doesn't make sense, and the traps become repetitive and boring after 10 levels. I played through 20 levels in the normal world and about 4 or 5 of them in the slaughterhouse, and unfortunately the game doesn't have enough story to be rewarding to continue playing through repetitively-designed similar-looking levels. While the sound is perfectly relaxing and the animations are fluid, the rest is pretty much a disappointment - a major improvement would have been an actual storyline and having a better level designer .

Crusader: No Regret™

Middling game, questionable choices

While Crusader No Remorse was a classic and stands on its own, this game is definitely a sequel which rather requires you to have played the first game, as it starts with the opponets of the difficulty of the end of No Regret. The designer choice to make for more freedom of movement - notably roll movement and sitting sidestep are absolutely crucial in that situation as you may find yourself with 5-7 opponets firing at you with disintegrating or explosive weaponry from different direction, but it also leads to getting stuck in the decor, the same way it sometimes happened in No Regret with pipelines. The decision to move away from purchasing weaponry is a net negative for me, because it is accompanied with an oversupply of spare ammunition, spidemines spiderbombs and so forth - making it much less of an infiltration mission and much more of the "just nuke them with everything you have" which lowers the enjoyment of the game considerably by lowering the tension - at no point your resources are stretched. Having just 1 person in the base takes away from the story, and makes No Remorse a generic shooter, something I also dislike.

Terraria

Sorely lacking content

Better than Trove or Minecraft but still a very empty game 12 hours playing it was enough for me. The better mechanics of crafting which do not destroy the materials accidentally still don't offset the toughness of the enemies and the paucity of rewards, as it creates an artificial scarcity of the main tool crafting materials (metal) without any way to actually find them, except randomly by digging up huge tracts of biomes, by clicking. Also this game is in a sore need of a command queue like the old granddaddy Diablo, because most things you do in Terraria are utterly utterly boring and the speed of the villagers moving in is unacceptably slow (I built up 10+ furnished houses in various parts of various biomes as my bases and have a piddly 3 people living in my village. Overall - not as bad as Minecraft or Trove or some more recent topdown 2d survival games, but still too bad to be interesting. I'm deleting it to never install or play again - there's simply no point. Also - don't buy at full price (8.99 euro) - it's really not worth it.

Hocus Pocus

A fun little platformer

A little bit repetitive, but not too difficult or frustrating. Perfect for a 5-minute break inbetween doing serious stuff. The music does get to you though.

Heroes of Might and Magic® 3: Complete

There are 3 components in a good game

Good writing, relaxing graphics and great soundtrack. This barely has any good writing, has unskippable cutscenes, middling to bad audio and abysmally disgusting graphics. Heroes 2 was where it was at. This is just a pale, vomit-inducing knockoff.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky

As a newbie - not so well-thought-out

I've only recently started playing the 3D RPG, sticking to the isometric worlds of Fallout and the likes for the past 20 years. Having completed both FalloutNewVegas and FallOut3 I wanted to try out the Eastern take on the post-apocalyptia in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Unfortunately the results were less than satisfying - while the story is passably interesting, so long as you find and talk to the necessary persons, and the environment coupled with the creature design are brilliant, the search for the artifacts is considerably less so - with the bad design choice of infinitely spawning human opponents, it's only a matter of time until a full load of the weapons takes off the bodies of your enemies is going to steadily increase the thickness of your wallet, obliviating the need for collecting any of the alien artifacts, which, always being situated always set you back on antiradiation drugs, food and medical supplies in amounts, negating any profit. The motto of this game could have been - Don't bother with the "aliens" - stick to sticking the "pigs" and you'll make it big. However it's not that problem which made me stop playing it before finishing the game - it's the abysmally awful faction mechanic - unfortunately, for progressing, the game sometimes requires you to help a faction and maintain their favour level towards you for receiving some information on the "story at large', but if for any reason you "fail" the goal, it always results in a decrease of the favour rating, thus the death of extremely fragile "allied/friendly" faction members, to anomalies, monsters or indeed the enemy faction gunfire, is always your "The Player's" fault. That results in a horrible gameplay of running about the map - and between the "segments" of it, putting out the constantly RNG-generated attack events. To add the insult to injury - when you are given such a goal, the AI forgets to send any reinforcement to actually count as "holding" the position, so you'll be stuck for IRL hours!

Indiana Jones® and the Emperor's Tomb™

2 stars for the scenario effort,

Console gaming definitely is the worst thing, and ports from consoles are often terrible. Very unfortunately the story isn't compelling enough to offset the unreliable camera, bad controls and the frustrating gaming experience of savestates inherited from the console gaming. I played through 3 full levels, but finally gave up due the combined frustration.

Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition

A polished Fallout experience

Unlike a little bit of the the quests-on-rails Fallout 3, the entire New Vegas game doesn't feel cramped (despite a much smaller area of action) or overlong.
