Tangle Tower

Overall good mystery with excellent art

Tangle Tower is a fun, pretty and short mystery game. The thing I liked the most were the characters, each one of them has a lot of personality and a unique design with cool animations. Then I also think the art is excellent, all the environments have little details and the art is just so pretty. The gameplay is mostly classic point and click, you collect items from the different rooms and then get to use them in conversations to make deductions and confront the characters. Fun if you like the genre and the story of the game is good. Which for me is the case in Tangle Tower. The story has many mysterious details and all the environment and the characters make you curious about what may have happened. At some points it may get slow depending on your progress and conversations but that is ok. My main problem is a typical situation with this kind of mysteries (next may be spoilerish without spoiling details), that is the last 20 minutes of the game being a conversation were lots of details and context are explained and all the plot parts come together. Bit of a disappointing not discovering all that while actually playing, but well, before that I enjoyed 5 hours of a fun mystery so it is ok for me. As title says, overall it is a good game, with a good mystery and an excellent art design.

Call of the Sea

Charming puzzle adventure game

Call of the Sea is a lovely puzzle game with beautiful graphics and environments, great voice acting and ambient music, cool story and good puzzles. It is a chill game, and some parts are a bit slow to traverse, but the amazing visuals and atmosphere make it worth it. There are not tons of puzzles in it, just a few per chapter, but I found most of them challenging (but not frustrating) and fun. Exploration is also key to solve the puzzles and unravel the story. The game is not very long, but I think it has the needed duration to not feel short, and a longer duration may have been too much. Overall I feel this is a very good puzzle game, really worth the price.

Inscryption

Unique and weird gem of a deckbuilder

Everybody is correct, this game is better played if you know very little about it. Having said that, what you need to know without spoiling anything is that the main gameplay here is deckbuilding and it is done great, a lot of elements and surprises keep it interesting, challenging and fun. Then there is a whole lot more, simply keep in mind the game has a lot under its sleeve. It keeps it wildly interesting and immersive, it is just so good. I give it 4 instead of 5 stars because I found the card battles mostly easy, which is not a big deal because I had a great time with Inscryption even with that. Totally recommended game, great experience and fun deckbuilding.

Return of the Obra Dinn

Unique mystery investigation gem

Games like Obra Dinn are proof that videogames is a medium like no other for storytelling, with infinite possibilities and great ideas yet to explore. I will not say that the way of unveiling the story is unique of this game, but it does it so cleverly, with such care for the detail, that for me it was an absolute delight to uncover the mystery of the Obra Dinn. I was so hooked to the game, so interested in the plot, so challenged by mystery, that I cannot remember any other game that had me like this. And then the audio design is also great, the music sounds good but doesn't get in the way or annoys, and the voices are good too. The graphic design may be or not be of your taste, but it is a different and interesting choice, making it even a more unique game. Even if the graphic design doesn't suit you, the story and the cleverness of this game truly deserves to be enjoyed. A truly delightful game from beginning to end.
