This isn't an "enhanced" edition at all, it's maybe the worst censorship in memory. Everyone already knows the war exists, everyone would love neighbors and brothers to stop being manipulated by [lmao you know exactly] into warring with each other. What does that have to do with a fictional game? The dehumanization and erasure of these people isn't just evil, it's CRINGE. They're not aliens from another planet, most people can't even tell the two of you apart. Removing Russian from the game removes the very heart and soul of the game. This isn't S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
+catgirls +an interesting world and story beyond "cosmic horror aaaaaaa" +hard but not as miserably unfair +you party isn't traumatized to uselessness after 1 battle +no tired religious caricatures that have to whip themselves in a church before they'll fight again +less agonizing micromanagement in general +your party randomly dying isn't as harsh as it is in DD because they don't level it's just completely better lmao
ahistorical "religion bad" stories have been tired for decades now, but if you're going to do it you could at least do better than literally just scribbling faces on squares. This is the most visually unappealing game I've seen that I can remember, it's an insult to ask money for this when you'd be blessed if someone accepted it for free. think of all the strategy games that are basically exactly like this, but don't look like jokes just look at it. what were they thinking?
Is creepy, there's just no way around it. There's something transparently sinister in trying to deconstruct and remove the purity of anyone, especially women you don't even know because they wear habits, or hijabs. "heh actually I'm walking with the Devil and he's cool 😎" would have been fresh 70 years ago. Jim Sterling would give this a 10/10. It's probably a good walking simulator for people like him who already know they hate nuns, but it's just not a serious game for anyone interested in religion or even storytelling that isn't tired Beyond Belief.
People aren't exaggerating when they call it a successor to F.E.A.R., it's that good. Sometimes it's even better. There's no ghost girl(tragic) but there's other kinds of spooky paranormal and alien stuff to enjoy. A tiny bit of Crysis peppered in as well, with some quickly-depleting cloaking and super strength. Shooting's some of the most solid I've felt in years. Surprisingly good story that you only truly understand in the end. Wish there was a little more, it might not be worth full price, but it's definitely worth it on sale.
Just like Doom 3, it's criminally underrated by boomers with fried attention spans. It's less mindless action and a little slower-paced horror and story-focused, but still an incredibly fun time all the same. You get to feel like you're in a military(because you are) and you often get to fight with other space marines, something even Doom 3 was missing. It's a horror, drama, and action-filled military sci-fi campaign worth playing.
