Rez meets Typing of the Dead

So, this game seems like it was made by a new game maker and it is rough around the edges. The graphics are good in some places and plain in other places. That I can say is that the formula here is addicting, and very similar to Sayonara Wild Hearts... while the images and music might not be up to that standard... the game play will bend your ability to multi task 3 different things at once. This does have reused enemies, bosses, and level design but they do a good job of adjusting the difficulty curve on repeats so not every time you play them will be the same. When the camera changes perspective on you it is quite a shock, and some of the bosses are quite creative. Though this is an early game for Flying Cactus and it seems like they knew there was going to be some jankiness to the difficulty curve so the screen clear and shields are much needed. I think this game could have been better at changing perspectives, art design for level transitions, perhaps not a wall of text that your character stops in front of, and maybe take a few more queues from Sayonara with QTEs that your character uses for parkour to break up the lanes more and stimulate anyone that is watching the game being played but not playing. The music and sound FXs are decent and provide a role, but I think that every level needed a different sound track because every level almost sounds the same... especially if you miss the combo meter... so its not quite what you would want. The hype starts too low... and this game could have taken Tetris Effect for its money with combo and interactive music and graphics... but it is an early developer's game and I didn't want to be too rough on them because it is great for what it is. If only they would remake it and add more dynamic levels instead of random generated enemies. Think more Konami Contra and less Breath of the wild drops... just larger dictionaries. Great $5 game <3

DOOM (2016)

Great start to franchise revival

2016 is possibly one of the best reboots to a franchise. It basically took everything that wasn't taken well by Doom 3 and added a new modern twist to the classic formula... And it very much became the kind of game the original team wanted to make but then settled for the original Doom. So it does have Arena's in the sense that some parts of the game you have to open a heart of evil and then fend off the waves of demons that come after you. At first I thought this was cop out for content but as the game went on I found that the environments did vary and that there still was plenty of exploration to be done in well pack maps. I really like all the guns in this game, there isn't really a bad choice in this game, as all choices are restricted by ammo. However all of the guns do deal damage and can be used on any enemy to dispense hell. Sadly, ID/Bethesda/Microsoft, have decided to cut the multiplayer severs to try to push people over to the terrible Quake Legends game. The multiplayer for this game was amazing, and its beyond unfortunate that ID/Bethesda/Microsoft have failed to include proper death match in the continuation of the series. The story in this game is great, it doesn't have unnecessary cut scenes and doesn't try to be a goofy Saturday cartoon show... It's just Doom. The soundtrack is phenomenal, I would say it is the best of the new games so far. Doom 2016 is very faithful to the OG series and the OG team. It rather unfortunate how the series has changed with Eternal and now Dark Ages... They are good games... but I wouldn't necessarily recommend them as they venture too far off and probably could have fit better in a different franchise entirely simply because they try too hard to "look badass"... Where 2016 is simply just a badass game and doesn't need the staging of the other two.

Loop Hero

Best $12 spent

This game is a slow paced game that is fun to play when tired. The lore of the story is delivered through small bites by new structures or enemies. I have put 8 hours in and I think this game is great. The music is good and I think the worst thing is that all I want to do is go back and play this game.

Tiny and Big: Grandpa's Leftovers

psychedelic indie underground trip!!!

What can I say about this game... it is pretty good not the best piece of software I have bought, but like the game it gets you there just not in the way you would expect. Style Style style if there is anything this game is oozing out of its seems is style, to be honest I have not seem to many game s like it game play is simple but the hard thing is figuring out how to do the simple things. Music is "indie underground stuff" but I cannot help but recognizing the psychedelic beats from the 60s, I admit I look though the tracks and thought I would hate them. But I found myself enjoying them. Obviously it is an indie game so the graphics are not quite as good as a big title. However I am impressed by the performance of their physics engine. Overall impressed however the whole sound track is not included which leaves lots to be wanted given the considering. If you like sand box games you will like this one, if you prefer structured environments I would stay clear of this game as sometimes you will have to explore to find the next step. Cannot wait for episode 2!!!

Septerra Core: Legacy of the Creator

Good for what was put into it.

Well a lot of people do not relise that this game was independent, so when you compare it to FF8 and Ultima 9, you have to understand that two years before releasing this game, they lost their company, and the rights to their own game. So this is not a blockbuster budget game, so do not walk into it thinking that it is going to be a quality title for 1999. This game is fun and has very well done music and voice acting ( Thats right!!! NO READING!!! I can't say how many times I have been put off by videogames that force you to read. There is still text so if you are def you can still enjoy this title ) The graphics are not currently the best, but on my computer that reslution is 2560x1440 they do not look terrible. The controls seem very odd at first, and sometimes when slecting from map screens it can be hard to figure out what you should click on. This game is great, plays well, and should be enjoyed!!!
