Just not very good - Clunky navigation

This game has little substance. Dude entraps friends GF's to show that they cheat, then makes bet with friend to seduce a gymnastics team in a week. Game play: Collect clues, navigate the map, meet the girls and say the right thing to gather up the points to seduce them. The Bad: Navigation is clunky. INstead of the normal right click, you need to open up your phone to save. You also need to click on the contents of the phone and back out. These means a lot of extra clicking. The VERY Bad: The "spicy" scene that I encountered said "you got a BJob" and there was no visual. The whole point of this game, for me, is to see more or rather SOMETHING. I can't recommend this. There's no depth to it, no "spicy" scenes that I ran across before being done, and the male characters are not very likable. It's not for me.

Being a DIK - Season 1

May ruin other Graphic Novels for you.

First: This series has three planned seasons. I would recommend planning on purchasing season 1 and 2. S2 has a satisfying conclusion that won't leave you hanging too much in terms of resolutions, while S1 may feel incomplete. S3 is in the works. Graphic Novels are choose-your-own-adventure games where choices may matter. In the case of this game, choices absolutely do matter, and you can have different experiences and viewpoints depending on the choices you make. This is not a harem game, but you do have time to explore and have fun before needing to figure you what you want. The overall writing is pretty good, although the erotic writing, is more C grade. Sometimes the MC will make you want to smack MC for his stupidity, but things are funny, and taking risks can be rewarding. If not, you can back up a bit, or reload from a save. H-Scenes are okay in S1 and really start to improve in S2 with some awesome scenes. I play for a mix of story and H. If you're about the H, go D*K. You'll get more. Like some H with romance, go CHIC. H-scenes have some animation and there are also a number of stills. The further into the story, the more you get. The game allows you to be a D*K (F everything) and still establish a relationship with one of the characters. Being a CHIK can lead to some sweet relationships or a Fem Dom relationship. There's the freedom to fool around at the start, but eventually, that can have a negative impact on the relationships you're attempting to build. Main story: Dude is a poor loser who goes off to college and needs a place to stay, for reasons. This leads to attempting to get into a fraternity and it's about the people and adventures had along the way. Bang for the buck, the price may seem high for a graphic novel (chapter 2), but there is a lot of content and value in replaying. Recommend going full dik or chic. There is currently no reward for playing the middle ground and you miss some minor content.

Rance VI + 5D

Rance 5 and Rance 6 - meh

Rance 5 is a completely random chance game. You don't get to select strategy, the monsters and weapons you gain may or may not be useful. The player is along for the dice rolls and random chance may be unkind. The game has a time mechanic and if you run out of time you lose the game. If you die you lose the game. These things are possible because of random chance. For me, this lead to unfun game play. Rance 5 Pros - the story was entertaining, and I was surprised that I enjoyed Rance's quirks. H Scenes - Mostly static images and "she screamed, she must be enjoying it" scenes. Each H scene gets 1-3 still images. I didn't finish because I ran into a random chance challenge that I didn't care to play over and over again to win. Rance 6 - This story was less entertaining. Rance moves through a 3D like environment and must level up. It feels like there's significantly less H-scenes and events are gated by the collection of various orbs. Orbs can be used to make Rance powerful or have fun. For an adult game, I really don't appreciate this sort of gating. The game just felt grindy versus progressive. I do not like the grindy feeling. More complexity of combat. more H, or better funnier dialogue all could have helped Rance 6. I was annoyed at the Randomness of Rance 5, but I think it was the better game. Saving in both games is awkward, and I wouldn't recommend either of these games unless you already have an affection for it. Age can be a cruel mistress where time builds upon games of old and delivers a better product for similar or better pricing. When comparing this game to others, it doesn't stand up well to the test of time. There are better games with similar themes that have less grind and feel more erotic, although five had great writing. It saddens me because the overall theme of the game and dialogue could be fun, but I'm unlikely to test others based on pricing and this experience.

Succumate

Not quite what I was expecting

I purchased this because I was such a fan of My Summer Memories, but this game is not in the same league for me. My first issue is that this seems like a game that could have come out in the '90s. The sprites don't bother me as much but the pixelation of the H-Scenes did. There is no easy access to back/forward or to stop the text from appearing letter by letter, which is something I have a hard time with. Couple this with what felt like a more extreme grind just to handle food and sleep, and I didn't really do much past chapter 1 (first mission). It's cheap, and some may appreciate the retro appearance of the game and may not mind the grind. I had hoped for something on par or better than My Summer Memories, but I suspect this game came out first and Memories simply improved on it (all in very good ways). I won't go one star with my review, because I do think that some will enjoy this. It's sadly just not for me although I'd love to see more games in this and Memories style (but less painful grind and better graphics).

Being a DIK - Season 2

One of the best out there.

I'm reviewing season two, so you likely already know whether you like the game or not and I assume you're wondering whether you should continue after season 1 left you hanging a bit (that's what I remember). You may be wondering if season two will do that to you again. The answer is no, it won't and yes, it's worth continuing despite the series having 4 planned seasons to conclude the story. If you play like you're not playing a harem game, you can get a great conclusion depending on the main girl you go with. Season 2 has a potentially very satisfying story arc romantically and platonically depending on choices. Emotionally the game has a great ending and sexually, the author really ramps things up. I will give you a hint, for a great ending... always look for your guitar wherever you stay. It may be out of view. Really, my biggest negative is the love of feet and stockings that the author has that he injects without consent into my story. Even in DIK mode, you get some of it and it annoys me. Still, this is easily one of the best visual novels available. It'll probably be a couple of years before Season 3 comes out (the author is working on episode 10 after having finished episode 9 in January), so it will be some time before the overall story is finished. Luckily season 2 was satisfying and hence why I'd recommend if season 1 left you freaking out and feeling frustrated with the cliff hanger.

HuniePop

Not my flavor

So, I've seen people rave about the game and with GoG's sale, I decided to try it out. I 100% can't recommend because I am unable to complete the final date on EZ mode. The game is premise is that you're a horny person who can't get with the women and the lust fairy is going to help you out. She gives you hints on how to be successful and we're off to the races. There's a dating sim portion where you ask and get asked questions. With the girls you need to remember what they tell you and you get love points. When they ask you, you need to answer correctly based on their personality to get love points. Asking questions makes the girls hungry so you have to buy them food. The second resource is money. The money is earned, ironically, by going on dates. The dates are the puzzle portion of the game. This part is fine. You have a limited number of moves to move pieces horizontal or vertical and get 3+ in a row. The love points help you purchase upgrades as each date gets harder. All of this game play is still fine. The issue is when you've finally done well enough to get the girl home. Now you have another game... you have to score 500 points, but you have to do it in a very short window because the points rapidly go away. I do not have the skill for this, nor do I care to get the skill. I assume you get a sex scene afterword, but I have no idea. The most I got up to was almost 400 and that was due to a LOT of lucky pieces falling in place. I wasn't here for the game, but a little game was okay if there was a reward. The issue is that the gating to get the reward was not achievable for me even on easy mode. Kudos to those who can. If you love the puzzles, the porn can be the bonus. I don't love the puzzles THAT much. I'm thankful that I didn't waste too much money on a game that will just make me angry every time I see it in my inventory.
