Almost worth playing without the sex

You click through scenes showing how the story progresses. Beyond that the gameplay is basically non-existant and one's only choices are who not to have sex with and whether to try to be understanding and compasionate or harsh and demanding with your crew-mates, which influences relationships and sexual opportunities (which would be more interesting if being understanding, compassionate, and honest wasn't always the best choice). This is a little dissapointing. My closest experience to playing a game like this is "the wolf among us" but that game at least had branching paths depending on the dialogue decisions made. With the unending void, the dialogue decisions simply act to grant access to sex scenes. Saying that, the option to have one of two personalities (even if one of them is always superior) is better than some games where you are obligated to play an arsehole. The graphics are pretty good and look better than most other games I've played. Unlike most sex-games who's gallery I've browsed, the women look like normally shaped human females and have varied personalities which means reading through the conversations is moderatly interesting. They typically dress appropriately for the jobs they do (not too many high-heeled, thong clad, disproportionately sized women) which combined with the graphical animations and varied, consistent personalities gives characters depth which most games lack. Personally, I would prefer it if there was more story and decision making inbetween the sex scenes and for certain female characters to be even less overtly sexualised (Thyia for example is dressed very strangely for a mechanic), or to sexualise them less crassly. Overall, the story has enough going on to keep me following it even if some sections do become rediculous. If the story and personalities were a little better fleshed out and the destination planet slightly less rediculous It could even become a game worth playing even without the sex related content.

Fantastic Story and Universe

I was a little bit worried going into the first season of Tales From the Unending Void because I thought so highly of the developer’s previous game Sisterly Lust that I figured there was little chance they were able to top it or even match it. I am very happy to say I was wrong. They once again made one of the finest visual novels I have played. The sheer scope of it is amazing. The amount of lore in terms of various species and planets all having their own look; history and customs is just huge. There is an awesome codex to go with all of it as well. The overall story was fantastic so far. I can come up with a few nitpicks but they are just that, nothing serious at all. For instance I wasn’t overly happy with the route with Jade that was a dom/sub route. In Sisterly Lust I thought the developer handled that kind of relationship really well but in TFTUV I found that my character being dominant toward Jade was basically just me being rude. It didn’t feel like it captured that bond as well as they previously did. I will also say that I found it a little light on tough choices. I very easily had myself the makings of a fine harem by the end of the first episode, which is fun don’t get me wrong, but part of me wishes for something more along the lines of Acting Lessons where you couldn’t always have it all. Despite all that this game is still top notch. The characters were well developed. The story had action; mystery; comedy; drama; all done well. The game’s lewd scenes are among the best in the genre and the models and object detail are gorgeous as are the animations. My only nitpick on that front was the few scenes where characters use a stun gun on other people had a stun effect that looked a little weird. The relationship screen is great and does a good job of letting you know where you stand with the love interests. The music is fantastic and sets the moods well. One of the cooler AVNs out there

AVN are a pretty niche field and there's no big companies just small teams or individuals and not everyone is a good writer. However this story is pretty interesting and irregular among the AVN cliches so that was very welcome. It's a pretty cool world and it was interesting to read learn about even without the sexy stuff. I like the characters, they aren't the most complex and elaborated but quite well designed and they have their own identities and personalities, I really liked that. I actually like some of the girls, not so much others so it made sense to get involved with some but not with others. Of course for a full experience I may go back and try every option :) The sex scenes are nice, and I was glad the writer didn't hide the possibilities of trans / futa characters with all that involves. They are very tastefully written and have interesting back stories of their own as persons so it was nice to get to know them as well. The dialogues and story are written quite ok, not excessive boring stuff and also not too quick or simple language, it was basically very enjoyable. I follow the creator on SS now and support with a tiny amount regularly in creation of the second season.

Mass Sexfect

As far as sci-fi visual novels go. This is top of the line. Exciting story of rebellion and betrayal with hints of a larger plot. Varied characters (human and non-human), a likeable core cast and protagonst. Solid character designs and envoroments. Surprisingly in-depth world-building with glossary. A large amount of flavours, some of the most that I've seen, anyhow. Music that doesn't distract and in some cases stands out. If you want that Mass Effect feel for adults, you could do a lot worse. Creator now working on the third and final chapter, so, a very good chance that this will be a completed trilogy.

One of the best AVNs!

Hard to believe it is from the same author of Sisterly Lust, he has grown so much more skilled since then! I didn’t like Sisterly Lust much because the protagonist was a creep who used Daddy’s money to buy his way in women’s hearts, everything felt as if it was served on a silver plate ready for the taking, that was not an enjoyable experience to me because I didn’t feel as if I earned what I had and the protagonist really creeped me out with his rotten personality. Now in this story here, the author has completely changed his perspective because the protagonist might be from a rich family but he is not a spoiled brat like the protagonist from Sisterly Lust was, this protagonist is a lot more interesting as he doesn’t rely on Daddy’s money to have his way in life, he is fully autonomous and actually makes his own way in life with his own resources, I respect him a lot more! 😃 And his personality is a lot more refined that the creep from Sisterly Lust who spent his time thinking how he was going to do his sisters. Now don’t get me wrong, this protagonist here also romances his sisters BUT he thinks about them in a lot more respectful way than the creep from Sisterly Lust who saw his sisters as preys of his schemes. Because as the name entailed, Sisterly Lust was all about LUST. The thoughts and actions of the protagonist were driven by sexual desires. Whereas here, the thoughts and actions of the protagonist are driven by love, he loves his sisters and doesn’t think about them in a creepy way, which makes a world of difference in his personality and makes him a lot more enjoyable to be! 😆 To sum it up, the protagonist from Sisterly Lust was a creep whereas this protagonist here is a romantic. Kuddos to the author for such an upgrade! 😉 By the way, isn't that hypocritical of GOG to sell adult games and still censor adult words in their reviews?
