Dollar for dollar, PROBABLY the best game I've ever bought. I don't think I ever had this many hours of genuine fun for this cheap. You can really tell that is a passion project for this guy and he loves it. The main reason I am writing this review is because the learning curve for this game SEEMS steep, but it isn't. I ALMOST stopped playing the game twice (and I am an older GenXer with lots of patience) so I can imagine that a lot of younger people would just stop the first time a bunch of cargo flies out of their cargo bay. You need cargo baffles, a laser, a refinery and hauling drones as soon as possible. 1) Don't go too fast or turn too quick, you can damage the ship and/ lose cargo 2) Buy Cargo baffles -buy these immediately as they stop MOST of the cargo from flying out the space. Nothing worse than losing a 25k nugget right at the start... 3) Laser -Buy and tune the laser so the pieces of rock and ice it breaks don't go flying too far advanced cargo are refineries -The projectile ammo systems send things flying everywhere 4) The advanced options under cargo bay are IMPORTANT -each ship has space in the cargo you can see AND space for a fixed weight of EACH element you can't see, the amount will be displayed in numbers on most HUDS, but after being processed it will just disappear. -Once you add a refinery to your ship, you can start earning much more money on each trip NOTE: after you have maxed out all your refined cargo space, you will need to TURN OFF the refinery or any new refined ore will just get vented into space. -The way to make real money is filling up on refined ore, turning off the refinery, then collecting a cargo bay full of 10k+ nuggets. 5) Get HAULING drones ASAP. They make EVERYTHING easier. 6) Personally, I think at least one point defence microwave is a MUST. 7) Don't just blindly upgrade equip and ships to the highest option, you really need to get the combos right, READ the descriptions and yes, even tune them lol :-)
EXCELLENT GAME. CREEPY ATMOSPHERE. COOL LITTLE UNIQUE LOCAL COLOR FROM 1980s WARSAW PACT COUNTRY (POLAND?) I was actually shocked by how good this game was and that I haven't heard more about it. My only regret is looking up some things while I was playing instead of just immersing myself in the game. Resist the urge to look up things that don't make any sense and just keep on going as best you can. It's one of those games were you can pretty much kill anyone and lose the vast majority (if not all) of your inventory and I think still finish the game. Your choices matter and have a real impact on the story and the ending. No gross-out gore or shock stuff, just a bunch of strange stuff that creeps you out as you try to make sense of it (and stay alive). It feels very real and immersive. And even though in my playthrough it was never 100% made clear what happened in the story, I still feel like I got the general idea and it didn't feel at all like the writers were too lazy to put everything together in a way that makes sense, it actually feels like the more you play it the more things make sense but also new info raise new questions, but it still all connects together in a way that feels real. I dunno, it's hard to explain... it's just good, play it! Don't read about it, don't watch the trailer, don't look for it on YouTube, just buy it and play it alone in a dark room for a few days. Honestly, I get the feeling that there are probably lots of different ways to end / play the game. So much so that I am tempted to play it again. I NEVER play story-based games more than once. But I THINK I might play it again... Its that good. If there was any part of the game that was a tiny bit weak, I guess it was the controls. Maybe I just never got the programming for my mouse buttons right or maybe I should have just used the controller, but I felt like I was struggling in some of the melee fights for a lot of the game. don't use middle mouse for 2nd melee AND inventory...
So, first off... let's be clear about what kind of game this is: it is essesntially a choose your adventure book starting off as a guy who just won the presidency. So it you basically reading a book for 95% of the game. BUT it's a pretty good book (a political thriller) AND you get to make lots of different choices that change a complex set of variables that all have an influence on each other and have text written for just about any crazy set of choies you end up making... what I found most cool was that there were no no arbitary limits on what you could do and this is not a game that lectures or punishes you for making the non-politically correct woke choices... You can be a real bastard but as long as your choices make sense and are consistent (and you don't make too many enemies), you can win re-election from anywhere on the political spectrum. For example, in one of my playthroughs I denied basic human rights to women and minorities and won re-election by making my communist opponents "disappear" while the "Young Sords" guarded polling stations for me ... it was hilarious lol.
Minus points as the game has ridiculous-looking ahistotical flags and banners with made-up black crosses on them where the scary WW2 symbols are supposed to be... For a game that is so much about creating a dark and scary atmosphere, this is a game-breaking for the immersion. Just leave the stupid Swastikas in for crying out loud, we are not babies and there is no need to infantilize us! What's next, will Adolf be played by Charlie Chaplin?
One of my favorite sci-fi games of all time. I have no idea what the deal is with all the negative reviews. I felt compelled to give it a 5-star review because I really feel like it is a 5-star game. I got it for free on EPIC and liked it so much I bought all the DLC (which, to be honest, you kinda need to get the full experience, at least the non-cosmetic DLC). The near future earth campaign is some of the most fun I have ever had period. It never crashed for one once and I've played it on two different computers.
A very very very good 4x sci-fi space game. Has that "one more turn" quality that you get from things like Civ or Rimworld. DLC is excellent as well. Gives you control over just enough details without micro-managing... Just get it and play, just make sure you start it up early enough in the day or you will end up staying up until 4am... Everyone is saying that this is a copy of MOO2 (which it is, but better) but there is a a lot of DNA in there from Galactic Civilization games as well. Surprised that I haven't heard about this before.
