Singularity™

Great Game. Just Buy it.

Half Life 2 + Bioshock + Dead Space + Time Travel = Singularity I had never heard of this game until a couple days ago. I picked it out of a huge backlog. It's great, VERY VERY good. I'd put it in my top 10. Sci-fi story and atmosphere is better than almost any new game I've played in the last 5 years. Grim and immersive with good rag doll and death animations. Guns are diverse and all have a very specific purpose, each one feels like a very different tool for a different job... environment interactions are really cool... Art style is cool... very immersive. But most of all, it respects the players time: there are a lot of quality of life improvements and intuitive touches that feel natural and NOTE: I played on Normal. It was too easy. I am an average FPS player with mid skill and I found the „normal“ difficulty pretty easy... I almost never died unless I was experimenting with some new gameplay mechanic. It closes the door behind you a bit too quickly and its easy to sometimes go ahead and miss an upgrade as the doors seal off the area behind you. It borrows a lot of stuff from other games, but its all good stuff and the sum of the whole is greater than the parts. And the ending is pretty cool. Suddenly, Atomic Heart seems even less original.

Grim Fandango Remastered

Great Music / Dialogue, Terrible Puzzles

I consider most LucasArt Adventure games classics, but this is not that. This is one of the MOST OVER-RATED games from the 1990s. Many people forget that it did not do as well as other LucasArt games from the same time period. The game has a lot going for it (namely Music, Dialoge and voice acting) but some of the puzzles contain such large degrees of confusing moon logic that you might as well just save your time and watch the walkthrough on YouTube. This really probably should have been a movie anyways. Some areas feel much less polished than others, for example the largely empty "Petrified Forest." People complaining about graphics are knuckleheads... it looks fine. OTHER than the fact that it is a unpopular 3D Polygon style that was the fad at the time and the character design is a bit jarring & strange. The puzzles are the real problem.

Deus Ex™ GOTY Edition

BASED

BASED. A game made entirely by normal men. It shows. I just beat it in 2025, as long as you get that one launcher mod that everyone talks about, it really holds up well. Excellent game.

DOOM 3: Phobos

This whole mod thing with GOG is great

This whole mod thing with GOG is a great idea, 95% of the steam workshop is terrible anyways.

SOMA

Alien Isolation + Bioshock - Guns = Soma

An excellent sci-fi game with a cool exploring / sneaking / running mechanic with a big focus on story. Story is very original, characters and dialogue are believeible and well-voiced, writing is immersive, Graphics are fine, good for 2015. Sound and music are in my opinion, EXCELLENT... I found it quite scary and the game give me a real feeling of dread everytime I had to leave my hiding spot to sneak past "something." Its just that immersive. Just an all-around impressive effort... it's crazy how much better these 10-year old games are than more recent games... It would be very unfair to call it a book instead of game BUT it is very linear and while your choices matter, they are somewhat limited. Save mechanic is a bit unusual, you can only save when exiting the game to the main menu... I just used auto-save for most of the game and then for the last 20% when things get pretty dangerous I did do a bit of manual saving to get around hazards just because I didn't want to lose all my progress and have to sneak across another 300 meters of sea floor again... So I guess what I am saying is the save mechanic is fine, but auto-saves need to be a bit more regular, especially in the dangerous areas.

WARNO - Expansion Pass

WARNING: DOES NOT INCLUDE ALL DLC

Eugen is being greedy and playing with semantics to not include all DLC in the EXPANSION PASS. And here's the problem with playing with semantics like that: Technically they could just take 75% of the Post-Day 1 content and put it in a DLC not included in the "Gold edition expansion PASS Deluxe" --- which is industry standard language for all-post day 1 content (as the ever-lowering steam review score of the Warno Expansion Pack attests). The DLCs are described in very general terms, so we have to trust Eugen to act in good faith when we shell out our money in advance to buy software that isn't even created yet. It's completely arbitrary what units/maps/features they put in which DLC, even more so in a hypothetical conflict. There is no reason why the two divisions and their units just released couldn't have been a part of SOUTHHAG.... Like, NONE, zero. And while we're on the subject, even if we accept their official explanation, it doesn't look good that Eugen is putting out extra paid DLC that's not a part of the expansion pack before they even finished programming what people have already paid for. But the fact is, no one buys an expansion pack or a season pass or a gold edition or a ultimate edition or a complete edition thinking; "Oh, well, there's obviously going to be a lot of DLC content to buy after the content in the package." If they don't think an "expansion pack" described as the "gold edition" and the "ultimate collection" of DLCs DOESN'T sound like all DLCs, they are lying to themselves and to us. And more importantly, they are using up the trust and good will of their customers: go over to the store page and watch the review score drop in real-time. I probably own about 2k games between Steam, GOG and Epic and if possible, I almost always buy the edition with all DLCs included. In all those "Gold Editions", "Expansion Packs" and "Ultimate Collections" etc., I have never once experienced what Eugen did here. It's not okay.

WARNO - Nemesis #3 - Homefront

WARNING: NOT ALL DLC IN EXPASSION PASS

Putting some fine print in the text about a specific number of DLCs is not making it at all clear that there will be extra DLCs in addition to the Expansion Pack. If they don't think an "expansion pack" described as the "gold edition" and the "ultimate collection" of DLCs DOESN'T sound like all DLCs, they are lying to themselves and to us. And more importantly, they are using up the trust and good will of their customers. Don't take my word for it, go over to the store page and watch the review score drop in real-time. I probably own about 2k games between Steam, GOG and Epic and if possible, I almost always buy the edition with all DLCs included.
