Get GMDX instead it's better. There's was controversy when this MOD was first released due to it being exclusive for Steam. However it was all for nought once you tried the mod out. This mode drastically conflicts with the tone and atmosphere of the original game and really didn’t do much to improve things. It’s mostly a graphics overhaul mode with no work done with the games sound or gameplay. On to of that it’s so dark that you can barely see anything. In short it’s a poor mans version of the much superior GMDX MOD which you can find here http://genericname112.wixsite.com/gmdx The GMDX is one of the most polished MODS I’ve ever seen and a must for any Deus Ex fan. It overhauls the graphics, sound, AI, gunplay, physics, skill system, and aug system. Please skip this Revision rubbish and give GMDX a try.
This is very much a survival horror with an emphasis on atmosphere and dread rather then heart racing scares. It's not a scary game but decently an unsettling one. It's done by the same guys behind Limbo and plays a lot like an unofficial sequel to it. If you like games like Prince of Persia and Abe's Oddysee, you're gonna love this.
I've played only a few minutes of this game and watched a few more playthroughs on YouTube and I advice doing the same if you're considering a purchase. The bad voice acting ruins any possibly to take the games story seriously and switching it to Norwegian doesn't help. There's also very little in terms of gameplay. This really is a walk/jogging simulator. There are monsters to watch out for but there are no real puzzles and the monsters don't have much to them. Most of the time will be spent walking reading notes and walking again while listing to some of the most couldn't be bothered voice narration you will ever hear. All and all a lost potential. I hope the developers releasing something more engaging in the future, since there was defiantly some effort put here. Just not enough to save it from being a bore fest.
Crysis 1 is one of my favorite first person shooters of all time. I love this game to bits. It sits along side FEAR for being an amazing game let down by some mediocre sequels. It plays a lot like a modern equivalent of Goldeneye. A lot of tactical game play and very much made for PC. This game looked amazing for it's time and still looks good today. Only now you don't need a super rig to run it. Just about any machine can run it these days so give it a shot and see what all the fuss was about.
FEAR really is everything Half Life 2 should have been like. FEAR is one of the most well aged first person shooters to date. This is in most part thanks to it's great gampley and it's terrific lighting system which still managers to make everything look good to this day. It's not a very scary game though. It's a little too much fun to be scary. Which is an odd criticism to say the least. Nonetheless the supernatural parts are great fun. The best thing about this game is the combat itself. Guns have terrific feedback and this game has some of the best AI I've ever seen. It also shows the best use of bullet I've never seen. By no means was FEAR the first to do it but I would go so far to say it does it better then any game before or since. Who would ever thought that something as mundane as shooting glass or puddles of water could look so beautiful.
I have added money to the kick start campaign since I was so impressed with this demo. Night Dive also worked on the Turok re-release so these guys know how to be faithful and that's exactly what this is. While most remakes and remasters focus on just the graphics; often what made the first game special is lost. This doesn't seem to be the case for this game though. This isn't Bio Shock THIS IS SYSTEM SHOCK. A hard care no hand holding figure it out FPS/RPG hybrid. This game will be much closer to the FPS of yore. You can't afford to miss this one.
I've only played this game briefly and for a short time. There were a lot of issues at first so I decided to wait for the first batch at least to see if things get fixed. Unfortunately not. The game just isn't fun to play. 1. The controls were a nightmare. The game didn't like my Logitech controller and instead wanted an xbox one instead. There was no real way to fix this so I just tried to use keyboard instead. The controls with the keyboard are very unresponsive and take a delay between input and action. 2. The feedback is terrible. With all the amount of blood and gore you'd think the moment to moment gameplay would be filled with meaty and crunchy feedback but there isn’t. It feels quite and lacking. There’s just no satisfaction in hitting stuff with your sowed. When this gets sorted we may have a great game, but until then avoid.
Impressions so far. Night Dive just might be my favorite studio. This is a create recreation of an old N64 classic. Weather or not it has aged well is debatable but this release is not. The added graphical features adds a nice touch and can be turned off if you don't like them. Playing this game at 60hz without fog is eerie (in a good way) to say the least. Turok might not be for everyone but it's decently worth checking out. This review is purely based on the PORT of the game more so then the game itself. As far as ports of older games go. This is a complete thumbs up and recommendation to all who liked the N64 classic. Next, Perfect Dark and Goldeneye
There are few games that have aged as gracefully as Doom. Doom is without a doubt the most influential game the industry has ever produced. The key to it being fun is how simple and straight forward it is. This review is based on the plain game without any mods whatsoever. Playing this game without mods I was surprised at how well it holds up and how fun it is. I do recommend running the settings and tuning the controls a bit. Also set your music device to general midi for better audio and then have it.
