Flipon

Middle Ground Block Destruction Gaming

You won't find it to be the same block destruction gaming fare to the norm, it's an oddly addictive game but it's a little too excessve with the music as it accelerates the blocks as imminent failure nears, it gives a sense of urgency at that point but also a feeling of being a little too dubstep for it's own good and that's a pretty acquired taste of music genre for many a no go, dev maybe try a few other styles in it's place as that might go a long way to helping especially by maybe having an option to choose a background music genre or implement your own songs. But this aside it is an enterataining game with a left right drag and drop into empty spaces movement foundation and that is quite confusing at first it takes some time to get use to that so persevere with it, Flipon is also mildly to fast for many users or beginners I imagine until they are used to it so again perseverance is the key try try and try again hat is the key to it experience trumps all. Does it feel unique does it feel special does it feel something totally brand not particularly no, although it has some new ideas it isn't a whole game feels brand new feeling you get. This is because it's like a mish mash or a compilation of game mechanics and elements some are it's very own and some have been seen before in other games like columns etc. etc. So it breaks with the traditional block descruction gaming models and mixes it up, flipon tries it's very best to impress visually whilst doing something outside of the box, but it is not perfect but it's also not at all bad it's really quite good performingc very fluidly and smothly transitioning through changes during play it is not going to be for everyone in the music department though being able to change the games music may greatly advance the feel and the appeal of continual play and re-playability for a larger and broader audience to appreciate it. The waves are unforgiving and that adds a challenge it's colorful a little noisy but it provides some down time don't expect a nice simple ride like Columns offers it's a little more hectic to say the least it definitely keeps you on your toes decisions must be made relatively quickly to succeed here. I'm calling Flipon a decent middle ground block destruction game and my score would be a 3.4 out 5 not 3 out of 5 if I could add half stars I'd have done so, but I would not extend it to 4 stars because I feel that's a little to generous, if the music is changable one day I might have to adjust that. score though we'll see.

Clid the Snail

Not What I Expected Both Good And Bad

CLID gives us high visuals then lets it all down with the music it both doesn't fit this creates a feeling of an action game behaving like a walking simulator when you hit the action it's an odd balance that doesn't quite work this can be frixed with a more action packed sort of theme to the soundtrack. Then we come to the coontrols and this where it struggles significantly to work as a shooter with fast approaching enemies we can't afford to have the laser moving past the targets and this is happening constantly lowering the sensitivty does help but doesn't cure the laser sight from moving past a moving target. It is absolutely beautiful but again it's got an issue here in that it's a little to blurry to see those details because the fog effect is up to high, another issue is that the talking happens to fast to be able read it and needs a little lengthier delay before each new sentance appears. It's promissing but it needs these minor fixes to bring that feeling of action and that ease of gamepad control to push the score up a little higher I'd likely give this a current score of 3.1 out of 5 but fix the controls and improve that music slow the dialogue text down transition times down then maybe it would be worthy of around a 4.3 out of 5 score I think it would possibly a bit higher than that, it's certainly worth another look at by the dev.eloper. It's got amazing gamepad support both my Ouya (mapped as a xbox 360 xinput gamepad) and my 8BitDo SN30 Pro Bluetooth gamepads work extremely well with this the mapping is amazingly well implemented so no problems there.

Bad Mojo Redux

A Nasty Disgusting Delight

A game that's so unique in every single way and so grotesque it's almost sinful to have thought it up, an outerbody experience into the dangerous journey of a man in the body of a cockroach, with the most hideous and obnoxious obstacle path ever constructed in a game. It's wonderful creativity but it's not for the faint of heart or even the remotely squeemish indidual, but it's truly ingenious and was miles ahead of it's time with the animations, this is a proper adventure both twisted and slimey and about the precarious life seen through the eyes of a cockroach on a path through a labyrinth of filth. It's nasty it's disgusting and it's an absolute delight to play, there's possibly nothing else on earth quite like this game.

SiN Gold

Dated Yet Positively Intuitive And Fun

To oudated for me although I say that it must have been an awesome game on it's release date and some several years after, but these days and by our current standards it's not fared to well at all in the graphics department they have a Goldeneye and Perfect Dark meets Time Crisis kind of polygonic style but feeling even more outdated than those games. I found that mapping a gamepad thumbstick to the mouse view/look is far too sensitive despite lowering the mouse sensitivty in the games options menu to absolute zero it still perfoms like a mouse instead of a thumbstick and this is a shame as it's actually a really well made game for it's day. With a great sense of mature humor although that humor is some might say mildly vulgar to occasionally sexist or it has unethical/violent behaviour it feels it's doing this to be adult and to not to take it's self to seriously which akes it even more fun when combined with that arcade feel and the story elements which is at time comical and at times serious due to it's fast paced and violent action it's also quite exciting but with depth more depth than a simple arcade game. And despite it's dated graphical feel it has a top shelf old school charm that's always sparkling around it and that still resonates very strongly today maybe more so when comparing it to some of the modern games lacking in story or character it way outshines them, On top of all that said it's also extremely intuitive in the the way you interact with objects in your surrounding accessing systems and activating things and in it's use of the collected/useable items and your character's hit damage meter all of that is very intelligently executed, and at times ithat makes it feel like playing a modern game hidden underneath an older games skin or like a demake with benefits not deficits, and so in the spirit of the positives I hand it a 3.3 out of 5 score.

Deadly Premonition: Director's Cut

Unplayable Tearing No GPU Settings

For some reason it plays at a incredibly low FPS rate with massive graphical tearing, it's a shame it's got an incredibly weird and kind of epic story tone, it has a kind of blood thirsty cinematic vibe but the visuals are dated even for the tiem it was released in some ways it is trying to be far more than it was ever gojng to be in a corny but sort of cool way it's half AAA half B grade movie esque. I would simply change the settings manually, but this is made impossible as there is no built in graphics settings menu that will alter the quality or the resolution which is ridiculous even for a game from back in 2013. I'm still waiting on my 3 - 4th day now trying to get GOG to issue a refund actually as it is unfit for playing.

BLACKHOLE

Nice But Found An Issue

It's a nice looking game responsive to to bluetooth gameoads with a nice animated style. Where I found an issue was on part 3 level one it remained stuck in that section because it wouldn't allow you to trip the rotation of the walls so you couldn't progress it was a game breaking mechanical failt I did try a few time and it remained this way a shame because I wanted to keep it.

Orbital Bullet – The 360° Rogue-lite

Good But Issues

A good run gun and shoot meets mild platforming it's kinda fun and there's some good animations and sound, but not much in the way of a plot I supoose it's shoot first read later in that sense. It has some charm to it but it's primarily in it's looks more than it's gameplay although it's reallyvnot bad. What was bad for me soecifically was an issue with neither an Ouya mimmicking an Xbox 360 gamepad with xinput nor the 8BitDo Sn30 Pro bluetooth gamepads registering certain very important action keys so the game was litterally stuck on the intial level on the first phase as a result of controller incompatability for certain buttons. You couldn't interact with machines to progress past level one. This is one I wanted to keep but couldn't unfortunately.

Mars: War Logs

Looks Great But Unable To Play Though

For Some odd reason this game was pre selecting the Spanish language not the English language natively on boot for me. And this made it impossible for me to navigate the menus I somehow accidentally did get into the game it's self at one point button mashing and did see what was very visually impressive considering the date this game was released on as it does go back some years. It has a lot of polish and detail and is certainly high calibur in the visuals department. I really wanted to be able to play this one but I couldn't unfortunately. Also an imprtant fact is that the gamepads I have here an Ouya gamepad mimicking the Xbox 360 Xinput and the 8BitDo SN30 Pro Bluetooth they would not be detected at all.

Downwell

Looks Great Feels Hard To Cut A Path

This is not for everyone it feels coll as hell firing that chunky heavy duty machine gun no doubtcthere butcit is fast very fast abd pretty dificult to boot. Some might call difficult sone would say challenging but I call this..."too damn hard to follow any path" this is due primarily to an accelerated speed of travel as you plummet way to fast for the small compactness of the screen size your windowed locked into. And that does unfortunately make menouvering this quickly with such a small character and enemy animations a little like trying to pull a horse out of a cap or like trying to swim against the tide and it's full of agressive pirahnas that's a bit what fighting your enemies is like in this game it's pretty much impossible You just fall and shoot and die and continue and fall againshoot and die because you cannot really win it espcially playing on on say a 21" inch plus size screen. It's seems like mobile screen dimensions stretching the gameccbut not stretching it enough to fit a larger screen. Otherwise you'd be talking 4 to 4.4 out of 5 score in my opinion of ot because it is actually quite rad to play and it's also funny watching the size and the power of the gun in the hands of such a little character as he rises up in the air as the gun recoils and lifts him off his feet daisy chaining a stream of bullets and you rampage through anything there it's oddly satisfying in a way to and it certainly does have a kind of unique charm to it. But as it stands at present the screen real estate is to far too small for such a big screen making it too hard to cut a path through your enemies and objects without being killed reasonably quickly and having to auto respawn... less respawning and more winning would make it more appealing for sure and make itcway more fun giving you a betterc sense of accomplishment to every hit you throw down on your enemy. On a positive note though Bluetooth gamepads do work on this.

Tower 57 Two-pack

Decent But A little Too Repetitious

It isn't bad but that doesn't mean it's great eitherxfor me it sat square on that middleground where your wantingcto love ig and the visuals and the characters you do ot's quite meticulous on it's aesthetics it's eye pleasing but it just felt a bit too bang bang bang another one of those bugs again bang bang bang oh another one of those creatures again and that became menotinous to me it felt the same all the time it was somewhat fun at first but it was like a novelty that fast wore off where it felt like it had become half of what it first was promissing to be like it just didn't climax it somewhat plateaued for me very quickly ot just felt like doing laps then.
