Good But Gamepad Issues

This is game I really liked the premise of and was keen to play it as it's visually pleasing and it's quite a unique character all went well until trying secindary action on Bluetooth gamepads then it became clear options on the controller were missing this is on both the Ouya gamepad acting as a xbox 360 xinout pad and on the 8BitDo SN30 Pro gameoads neither worked fully leading me to believe this isn't for all gamepads but rather for specific ones. It's a shame I'll be keeping an eye on ithis game incase the Bluetooth issue is amended and I'll be likely buying it agian. It has an interesting character which is a little robot vacum cleaner lol and a bunch of blocks you suck up and expell into piles to complete tasks which is a cool novel idea. I'm still giving it 3 stars for the quality of this game from the half use I got out of it, it's actually a decent little title if not for the issue with Bluetooth pads I'd have had a ball of a time with it.

Super Hexagon

Was Unable To Use BT Gamepads

Unfotunately I was not able to get this to enter the game from the menu screen due to gamepad incompatability with both the Ouya 2014 BT controller ooerating on Xinput mod to begave as a Xbox 360 gamepad nor with the 8BitDo SN30 Pro gamepad what occured was a very ugly glitch where the menu tabs would blinking like a,disco whilst moving one to the left one the right in an endless loop. I'll keep an on this space incase it gets a fix but I cannot recommend Bluetoith gamepads for this based on my exlerience it may not be the case for all but just letting you know what I found when trying.

Beyond Good & Evil™

Ingenious Creativity

Beyond Good And Evil has just blown me away I'm never one for that sort of comment, but where this game is involved I can whole heartedly endorse it as one of the most overlooked and priceless gems of our generations gaming history, it's just oozing pure magical character with georgeous meticulous animations and phenomenally presented cut scenes. Combining money making and upgrading of your vehicles as well as side jobs and food finding and awesome boss fights coupled with explorative gameplay all wrapped up in one package a complete feeling package something akin to say Diddy Kong Racing in it's look and feel with the characters and the hovercraft animation but a lot lot more than that because it's a full game with real depth and character work and it all just works. The hand to hand fighting and driving mechanics are great, I am using an old Ouya bluetooth gamepad via Steam using Steam Input I have turned down the mouse sensitivity to zero and in doing this you have a full console like experience with the game, it's just a truly amazing game fit for all ages children and adults. The amount of detail is astounding your environments are pretty and I'm just taken back to being a kid again by playing this, it's an honor and a privelage to play every second of it, it's fun even when shopping for upgrades it has a thematic across all aspects of play and interaction and it just gives you one of the finest experiences you can get in gaming. Yes it's aimed at a younger audience primarily but even adults are going to love this, it's just extremely creative and there's a visual and twist on every interactivity and control eg. using a MD disc player console to save the inventory is intuative and the characters are truly unforgetable and their lines are funny all the way through everything all of it just works perfectly, I can't beleive I haven't played it until now and you should absolutely play this as soon as you can as you are missing pure gaming magic here.

Clunky Hero

Great Little Platformer Needs Attention

This is a great little platformer a lot of time and love has gone into making it it's visually impressive actually quite funny the humor is of a more adult context at times that you might find kids would ask what it meant and you'd not want to be having that conversation lol although for us adults it is funny here and there. I have laughed out loud not expecting those inuendos and it's comedy is in a parody context and not intended to be offensive it's light hearted comedy and parody. Overall this is just a really good game and is lots of fun to play, it has it's challenges a plenty although it has a bog standard evil kidnapper style story plot which is a predictable one it's still also a good one and it does explain why he's wearing a bucket and smacking enemies with a broom stick which is a relief lol, You'll find your self fighting creatures like orcs/frogs and humans all in that cartoon movie esque animated style whilst you rummage and collect items of use for almost every element you must use these to survive this applies to everything from your health to your weapons all of which can also be purchased using coins in shops dotted around the landscape. The game does have two flaws these are on ocassion as you walk against a wall to the far left or far right this will stick the character to the wall or stick the character to the spot he's then stood in like he is glued to the floor or walls, he is then unable to move left or right for some time which appears....? to auto correct it's self given time although it may be a result of keep pressing alternate directions or button mashing that fixes it I cannot tell? Which leads me to the second issue the developer has mapped the select button of all buttons to be the inventory controlling button, this will not work for third party controllers that do not have a menu button, and thus there is no way to map that select button to another button now without third party controller mapping tools as far as I was able to try changing it in the native gamepad mapper that is built in to the game, also the developer did not bother to put words in the button mapper menu to explain any any of the mapping options so it could do with some context to help with it. This game is an absolutely great effort and if those two issues I have mentioned are ever fixed? Then it would definitely be a superior game to what it is now. If theyare ever fixed I'd likely feel compelled to give it higher a score of 4.6 out of 5 otherwise a 3.9 to 4.0 maxmum score is what I'd give it as it stands unfixed.

Caveblazers

Awful Controller Support

I concur with user Smallestmouse that the controller support is abismal for this game I have tried two gamepads an Ouya controller with a 360 mimicking tool and a 8BitDo SN30 Pro neither work and the 8BitDo usually works for practiclly all gamepad games, meaning the controller compatability database for this game is likely aimed purely at a couple of gamepads of specific model type not alternate brands and that's a shame because the game looks fun and has a decent play time length to boot. I'll keep an eye out incase isupport is ever added in the future but the gamepad support absolutely needs a huge overhaul it's costing sales as I my self had to refund it. because I don't use keyboard and mouse when I game and the same will be said for many.

Jet Kave Adventure

High Quality Platforming Fun

High detail animation a giant club and a jetpack are mixed together with comedic humor in this brilliant adventure platformer that provides a little extra effort in it's build than most normally do, the attention to detail is phenomenal the sceneary artworks are really quite beautiful and the music complements every part of the game exactly how it should, it's a fun pick up and play game anyone can enjoy. It's quite difficult in places but it is a charming little game with a lot of time and effort put into it, it will make an excellent addition to anyone's collection, it's has a kind of Chuck Rock games vibe but in modern animated movie style with a futuristic jetpack for burst jump that can also aid in short flight and smashing through walls etc, There's a futuristic story element which is a little odd but acceptable as it explains this jetpack away, any way it's loads of fun and it is suitable for any age as it's not taking the look of the monsters to seriously so kids should be ok playing it to. Gamepads are supported extremely well with bluetooth pads being detected very well to.

Outcast - Second Contact

EPIC On A Budget

What Outcast Second Contact tries to convey is a feeling of grand scale and epic cinematic music, in fact the music is absolutely amazing a very polished soundtrack that gives this game a kind of Star Wars vibe and where it meets a little bit of Startgate plagurism, and yet it is far from both franchises enough so that it is completely it's own game and it's very own universe. Yes it has a now dated feel and yes it has it's laughable moments with voice acting and scripting and yes the torso of your character moves fluidly almost human like whilst his legs seem look like a rigid mech or robot motion lol. Ithink a patch to fix that to appear more rotary rather than bo legged and rigid it would transform this game and people's immediate rperception into a feel of brand new whole game as apposed to a upscale. The same could be said for the Freedom Fighters game it suffers the same similar issue, it is it's only flaw I consider requires actual attention. But this game it is really something to behold... in some ways it breaks a lot of the traditions of the run gun shoot done third person games, it attempts to put you inside of the story of the game it's more like playing a movie tie in from a movie that never was.... but a good movie tie in game not a bad one. This really needs a total and complete remake a top to bottom re-development is where this would be at it's finest and an actual movie for it would be cool or a trilogy/franchise lol. Gamepad support for bluetooth gamepads and other pads is a no go without using a third party mapping tool, but this game is worth some play time and exploration because it's so uniquely awesome despite any flaws it has all of which can be forgiven in an instant for the sheer effort and expanse of this games triumphs vs it's minor flaws, it's amazing just how good and cinematic the soundtrack is and the game is worth it just to hear it because that soundtrack is art in music form.

Sapo 3D

Sapo 3D Really Is A Great Little Game

There's just the right balance of frustration to keep you coming back for more whilst still throwing you a challenge, it's a great little game that seems to pay homage to the basic platformers of the 90s and makes a very welcome change to all those bloated extra high graphics games out there. This one is 100% family friendly to and has excellent controller support wired and bluetooth controllers are supported. Just an excellent game I'd love to see a progression with a second installment or a spin off with Sapo 3D, it's both soothing as well as a pleasure to play.

GRIP

Fast Speed & Fast Action But....

The downside straight away is you have all you need for it to be a great game then you stick obstacles on a track that are harder to dodge than the enemies firing at you. Remove the useless building frames sticking out on to the track and you'll have a game you can play a lot more fluidly and a lot more people will be sticking with it rather than throwing that controller down in anger every race because they keep hitting beams that come out of nowhere for no reason? Race tracks are clear of obsticles usually not full of them??? The music is ok, it's a kind of hardcore Jungle I suppose you'd call it it's not your usual progressive music genre that this sort of game would normally have. To use a gamepad it had to be mapped and consequently indirectly launched via a third party launcher menu which in this specific case that launcher being Steam, Steam Input via WASD was required to be able to map a bluetooth controller. The game is somewhat of an aquired taste but it is a polished game although not quite polished enough to be a AAA level title but more higher AA standard, I'd love it if you were'nt swearing at the screen because your hitting everything sticking out of the walls though, and I'd be praising it more rather than thinking of it as an in the middle kind of game which is caused by hitting to many obstacles it's just completely dampening the mood for people I'd imagine many will hate that and not understand the need for obstructions on the track in a racing game? Can I see me returning to it...yeah at some stage possibly but sticking with it... due to the frustations it causes with the above mentioned then I really cannot see me ever holding this game in a high favour as won't many others to and it probably will do far better review wise and sales wise if tiem is taken to improve on it. I find my self longing to play on a clean track mano emano rather than wasting time playing impossible catchup after whacking into a beam it's making progression near impossible expect laringitis and free hair removal if it's not amended because you'll be screaming to much and tearing pulling your hair ou it is that annoying it's a detremental flaw that needs fixing it's the only real flaw that's significant in otherwose well made game and that is a travesty. My score 3.6 out of 5

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair

A LITTLE GREEN & PURPLE GEM

Bright cute and lots of fun, Yuka Laylee takes a mixture of old school and modern platformer elements like Donkey Kong Countries barrell roll move the helicopter spin of the Rayman games as well as some notes from other greats like Super Mario Bros and so on and splices it all into a uniquely satifying blend of story/action and humor. It's ananimation art form game, which is clearly lovingly made, it's filled with a fast paced action with an adventure theme and story kind of like playing an animated movie in a game of sorts, the cut scenes could do with a little less written context but irrespectively you just have to applaud the attention to detail here and the time it must have taken to craft this game, and it's dfefinitely paid off. What you get is an elite AAA quality game for a lot less cost that plays smooth as butter providing a fully engaging console experience on PC albeit with a slightly different feel to a lot of the mainstream games, although it doesn't stand to far a field from those either,. It's certainly a little different from the others, keeping things challenging whilst managing to remain compatible for any person of any age to be able to play it and enjoy it.
