A very pleasant surprise

I have had this game on my radar for some time. But I heard about its difficulty curve and that it is still in Early Access made me a bit hesitant about getting it. But you know what? This is perhaps the best game I have played so far that is still in Early Access. What a remarkable game. It has a "Battle Brothers" vibe without its harsh difficulty. The storyline is pretty good so far. The game loop is very interesting and keeps me hooked. Since I love magic users, I am playing the Runaway Sorceress and I like her backstory. And it is not really THAT difficult. You just got to play it slow and kite like Hell with the sorceress. I have found that the Pyromancy/Electromancy build is great for that kind of tactic. In all, this is a pretty solid title with a LOT of mechanics but they are not overwhelming so long you take it a bit slow. But I find that the slow pace makes it very tense and exciting.

Project Warlock II

Needs more time in the oven

Okay, this game is a lot of fun. However, I just fell through the floor and off the map. (SIgh) Also, this game has terrible lag (I will admit that was fixed when I took set the FPS to 60 instead of unlimited. WaIy for some patches because this could be a gem -- as good as the original. Just needs to be cleaned up a bit more

Trinity Fusion

A solid indie game that is a lot of fun

Dead Cells "killer" it is not. A fun game with an interesting storyline? Hell yeah! I was a bit shocked how much fun this is. It is a very good indie title.

Unavowed

One of the best stories I ever played

I really do not like point and click games I do not hate them. But "point-and-click game logic" always annoy me. It is not a matter of thinking outside of the box but it just usually resolves with me just throwing everything against the wall to see what sticks. Either that or look at a walkthrough.. That said, I wish point and click games did not use their absurdist logic because some of the BEST narratives are found in point and click games. "Unavowed" is a good example of some of the best writing I have seen in YEARS. Deep, complex characters with deep complex relationship and motivations. Fantastic plot twists that you do not see coming. An intensely dark, mature and SUBTLE storyline that had my mouth agape more than a few time throughout the game. I was hooked from the very beginning; and in all fairness, it did not have too much point-and-click game logic. I just ALWAYS get annoyed when I get stuck and have to go to a walkthrough because I REALLY want to find out what happens next in the narrative. Anyway, I hightly recommend this game just on the story alone.

Brigador: Up-Armored Edition

One of the most undertated indie titles!

This is one of the best indie games EVER made. And it is one of the most underated as well. This gem can give one HOURS of gameplay and the campaign story is not that bad -- even though the narrative is conveyed through communiques and journal entries. (My least favorite storytelling trope!) It is very fun and challenging. Itt really deserves more love. I remember watching a YouTube video (Mandoregaming) about this game where the developers were apologizing for this game. Both the commentator and I were like, "NO! Do not apologize! This is a fantastic game!!!" It really is -- the gameplay, the music, the visuals, just top-notch! I whole-heartedly recommend this game.

Astral Ascent

Best Rogue Metrolvamia since Dead Cells

Wow! I have been wanting to play this game for while and it does NOT disappoint! Every character is just FUN to play with! In fact, I have gotten bored with one character after a few escape attempts. So I decided to change to a different character -- and had a blast! Well recommended!

Void Bastards

Very fun and ironic

Really enjoyed this one.

Starcom: Unknown Space

This is better than Starcom:Nexus!

I have throughly enjoyed Starcom: Nexus but I have have to say that I am enjoying this title far more. This definitely scratches the "Traveler" itch that I have been looking for in modern video games that I have been craving for a while now. More titles like this please! Space sims are my favorite genre after all

Akane

This is a lot fun

I have been holding off purchasing this game -- but that I have to admit that I was missing out here.. This is a pretty fun game. And it really is not that hard. One just has to practice at it and "git good".

No Man's Sky

100+ hours in and want a refund.

Okay, let me try to explain... "No Man's Sky" is an incredible game for me game, but it is a mediocre game at best. I really liked the game because it scratched a particular itch of mine: Space Combat and Exploration Sim. It is by far my favorite genre -- and believe it or not, I enjoyed "No Man Sky" over "Elite Dangerous" But my GOD! The bugs!! Especially the loading screen/warping screen lockup bug! I literally let the game run for an entire 6 hours overnight being stuck in the warping screen just to see if it would resolve itself. It didn't. Still no big deal, it was still a 4-star game in my eyes -- just due to my particular bias. But after the third time of encountering that bug, I decided to look on the internet to see if there was a handling that I could do to get rid of it. And I found that this bug was first reported in 2017 -- one year after its release. It is July 4th, 2024, and it is STILL present. I am sorry. That is unacceptable. "Elite Dangerous" looks better and does not have that sort of bug or any real bugs since I last played it. Hell, "Rebel Galaxy: Outlaw" which is just a homage to "Wing Commander: Privateer" is more polished. So, I decided with a heavy heart to uninstall the game and ask for a refund (not realizing it was just shy of the "30 days" limit). This game is 8 years old. This bug should have been handled a long time ago. Is the game worth it? Yeah, but on sale and ONLY if you really are like me who LOVES these types of games. BTW, is to force out of the game via Windows Task Manager and restart the game.
