Interesting visuals

Normal souls-like mechanics with managable stamina meter and stupidly hard hitting enemies with way too much health. The best part of this game is its world, which is in france in a kinda steampunky way with automatons everywhere. But thats about it. In my 8h playtime I had around 5 crashes to desktop. Sometimes literally after 5 minutes of starting the game and sometimes after over an hour. Could only reach the first titan boss and then it was enough for me. Time investment to get that enemy down is in no relation to fun im getting out of it. Which is already minimal. I can only recommend that game to people who have a lot of spare time and who can tolerate crashes and sometimes a little hiccup (stuttering).

Sapphire Safari

On a good way

The game is in early development and it shows: bad animations, animnation glitches, missing content left and right ("coming soon" stamp in menues), Texture problems and so on and so on.... But if you can look over it and it is being worked on, you will get something like Pokemon-Snap with a little crossing of Palworld. You walk around and take photographs of the local wildlife in its natural state. Getting better rating for clear pictures and special activities (like eating, sleeping...) or poses. Also you ahve some collectibles to find. Yes, it is rough right now, but it can be fun to explore the island. If you liked Pokemon Snap as a kid and are now grown up, you will probably like this one, too.

Perfection

One of the very best Arena shooters out there. Lots of variety in maps (from ancient castles to sci fi space ships) and weapons (normal pistol and sniper rifle are in, but so is a bio-goo gun for some reason). Can be played with bots, but still has active players around the world. And yes: even comes with a server browser. I can highly recommend this game. Even if you are just wanting something to play in your break!

Destroy All Humans! 2 - Reprobed: Dressed to Skill Edition

Can be fun

The game really can be fun, even if the humor seems slow-paced, but there are some funny jokes in it. Gameplay is a bit rough over all. For a remaster the visuals are pretty nice and well done. What I really dont like is during the end of level 3. I never died during the game before but there was a huge stopper. It just wasnt fun and I even broke my controller in frustration. The game wants you to fokus on a single enemy, while it throws MASSES on enemies at you additionally. Including enemies which will do high damage. It just wasnt fun anymore. There isnt a room for the player to avoid incoming damage or improve his playing. And after over 10 tries in both phases of this enemy, I just had to stop. Still got my 17h of fun out of it. So thats something.

Hell Pie

Cute style - crude content. What a mix!

The game is heavily inspired by Conkers Bad Fur day and the old "collectatons"-games of the past. Exploring a hub world, whcih will give you entry to all the different levels like you did in the games from your childhood. I really adore the cute design of Nate the demon, and the cartoon style is really fitting. Jumping and running works very well, especially if you progress a bit, which can also lead to some skipping of plattforms in the end. But: You are mostly fighting against the camera, which will lead to overjumping plattforms and some death screens which feel unearned by lack of skill. Levels are all distinct from each other and follow a theme. So they come with different obstacles to avoid. You wont get bored by it. The humor. Well, it can be hit and miss sometimes. I wish there would be some funny jokes which would make me laugh out loud, but so far (just entered the fourth level), Im mostly amused by the design of the creatures. The obscene-tag is not a lie at all with this game. But that is just me. Im still liking this game, love playing it and the OST is also good! The strangest thing Ive couldnt wrap my head around with this game, is the "RTX" option. Dont know what this is for. Even the shadows are simple blob shadows, and it looks the same as if you have disabled it. So maybe a bit heavy on the gpu. I can recommend it to people who like cartoony jump and runs from their childhood and can go along with crude humore/ graphics.

Akane

Its okay

Soundtrack is nice Graphical wise, this arena slasher/shoter presents in fine pixel-look, which isnt a total mess. Nice lightning effects are also in but in that kind of way, that these arent distracting or pulling you out of the game. It is a simple arena slashe: you find yourself in an arena with endlessly spawning mobs. After killing a specific amount of them, a boss spawns. One hit and you die. Thats all. Some unlockables tied to ingame achievemnts, ike reaching a certain combo level and such, to unlock some other weapons or other items which will help you. Sadly, I cant give it full five stars. I hate aiming for shooting with a controller in such games. Especially if your startgun only has a ver VERY limited amount of shots. So you HAVE to hit someone with it. Oh, and while aiming you cant move. Obviously. Thats garbage. You can navigate back in the menues with the "B" button. You have to navigate to the menue option "Back". Who came up with that? Yeah nice, I have the option, but why cant I use the controller to get back with hitting a button like in every other game with controller support? Pressing a stick to activate special moves isnt really intuitive for me. Granted: it isnt the stick for movement. So thats something I guess. All in all, it is a nice game for ten minutes. Since it doesnt really have a story and "levels" in that kind of way (it is an arena thing) boredom will strike fast. I recommend buying only the soundtrack. Because that one is awesome!

Before Your Eyes

Unexpected

Ive got it, because of the strange control concept with the blinking. Obviously, this is a pure narrative driven game. Not even a walking simulator. It is an experience with limited interaction. But a well made one. It is touching and has very nice moments I wont spoil. If you think, that games are art, you will look into it. Because it is art. It experiments with the interactive medium of a videogame. And it does it well. I also want to add, that I wear glasses. For those who are a bit afraid of the "blinking detection via webcam", be assured: it works. There is a calibration progress which will walk you through it. And even if it doesnt work for you: you can disable the webcam detection and use a key. But it works better with the blinking detection. I give it the high rating, because it is art. Standing out. Works really good and is emotional (at least for me).

Scorn - Deluxe Edition

Amazing in Style!

Finished the game only a couple of moments ago. Playtime was around 6h, but I was also looking a LOT at the scenery. Scorn is a walking sim. Yes, you will get guns and have to battle enemies (if you wish you can also avoid them), but the shooting part wasnt my focus. The scenery was. And what a beautiful game this is. Also you have to solve puzzles. There arent mind bending, but not too easy either. And it isnt obvious what you have to do from the first second on. Dont get yourself demotivated by that. Just look how the stuff reacts and take a closer look at the puzzle, then you will see the solution. The visuals are outstanding. Beksinski is obviously one of the major influences and later on you see the Gigeresk stuff, The amount of unique assets, models and textures is just stunning. It draws you into that desolate world. You wake up and try to get through a complex of some sort. You know nothing and nobody will give you a briefing. No mission markers, no texts, no audiologs. Only the structures around you. There are obviously some themes there (which im not gonna spoil. Make up your own mind as it is intended). The waiting was worth it. I really hope, that the devs will uuuuuuuuuuwork on another great title!

Paradise Lost

Surprised me

I liked the approach and the story of this game. Sadly, the story is clear from five min in and where it will lead to, but this comes maybe if you are older and have seen the same approach way too often. It is also similar to other titles and movies, which I wont name. It would be too much of a spoiler. The people behind the game even did a great job with all the german texts and markings everywhere. Also the visuals are nice ones, but I have to add, that I like secret bunker stuff : ) The main character could use a bit more emotion in his voice. He sounds like he is mostly reading from a script and nothing more. And the walking speed is, at least for a replaying session, very slow. Even with the run button, it isnt much of an improvement. Replayability is pretty low in general. There arent collectibles or secrets to discover. You can find notes to read, which will paint a picture of the stuff happening in the bunker but nothing more. Which I think is fine. Not every game needs the "collect 500 bricks!" quest for an achievement : D

Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™ Game of the Year Edition

Overrated

I try to make it short: After 5 min, after all the cutscenes and intro, I was killed by a huge group. It started small, only 3 enemies. But many more joined. Even a stronger one (red healthbar). And I was killed by a crossbow guy. This happened way too often. You get in a fight with only a small group, but you will be swarmed by an army and getting killed with two shots from archers. I died five times because of this. So the rest: It is boring. Im still in the beginning and dont want anymore. Running after collectible garbage and stronger type enemies gets tired pretty fast. Thje "Nemesis" system is overrated in my opinion. It is nothing more than a menue which keeps track of randomly generated enemies with bigger health bars. If you die, the killer gets a name and a bigger health bar. That's it. So the world maybe? I have read the books, and watched the movies. Im not knee deep into the lore at all. So maybe you can get something out of there, but to me it is just a wasteland with rocks and way to quick respawning enemies. Kill some, turn around, walk 10 metres and they respawn. Sadly, this is no joke. I didnt knew that orks could multiply that fast. With such a multiplication rate, the world would be swarmed by the end of the day! How can they lose any war? The ruins maybe look nice first, but quickly you notice that these are the same assets used hundreds of times. The novelity will wear of fast. The combat. Batman? Not quite, more the "we have batman at home" guy. You are weak. Even if posessed by an elf. You are so weak, you wont be able to down anything as you should. Enemies will swarm you before you can even take one out. So fighting open becomes obsolete and sneaking it is. Which gets stupid by the design and huge crowds the enemies are travelling with. For me, it is way overrated. It isnt a good game with such a poor design at all. At least it was only five bucks.
