I have played plenty of roguelites that are top down, but this shooter is by far one of the most fun I had. Despite some of its flaws the confusing crafting system which is not explained well in the game. It is in fact you discover some of its systems through trial and error to see what works best for you. Regardless of the game is easy to pick up there still not much complexity or controls to master just plug n play. I highly recommend for those people who are not that serious and just want to have fun then this game is for you. There are I believe 6 characters to choose from with their unique abilities and a good selection of weapons and map are procedurally generated. I personally like the skylines and neon cyberpunk style of the game so that’s another plus for me. But this worth a try especially if you have someone to play with go for it.

The Flame in the Flood is a survival game that takes inspiration from other games with its own unique twist. Although this game is essentially a survival game it doesn't go easy on you either. You must not stay idle as you constantly fight predators, weather, hunger, thirst and sleep as you traverse the flooded lands. The most striking thing about this game is its art style which makes it stand out and has a great music score as well. While many survival games let you let loose by giving you plenty of options this game on the other hand has rather more focused for example you are encouraged to avoid predators although you can still face them, but it will cost you your supplies. The maps are procedurally generated which makes things interesting as you are given random choice of harvesting resources regarding water, food, and danger you must face. I admit I was hesitant at first to give this game a full star rating but as I played more of it got everything figured out it's actually pretty good, I have some very minor bugs nothing game breaking. The one complaint I have is about the inventory system, it is divided among you, your pet dog and the raft. Although you can use shortcuts for some of the items which is more convenient instead of opening your entire inventory to use them. Lastly rafting is something to master. It’s not impossible but you might hit a few things along the river, but it adds another layer of challenge on top of that there's ton of exploration when visiting different areas for supplies. Overall as I mentioned it is a unique game not your usual survival game which is a good thing you get to experience a whole new game based on the genre instead of just another survival game.

First off the the quality isn't consistent there are some weird animations, glitches, awkward camera angles and facial expressions are at times don't eally match up. I think can be improved in that regard. Other than that it has an interesting story and a good music score that matches tone and era of when it is based on. While the story is interesting certain things don't really make whole lot of sense like introducing racial arguments through animals characters I think this would've been a better game with human characters. But I apreciate the attempt by the developers for being creative the game still worth a play but I will say probably get it on a sale I can't recommend the game at full price. With that being said if you have an itch for story driven games, where choices somewhat matter and a fan of detective games this might be a good choice for you. I have played plenty of similar games made by Telltale and played L.A. Noire which in general are of higher quality while this game does lack that level of polish it is still playable.

Before I say anything I just want to give my own perpective from a gamer who likes retrogames and soul crushingly hard games. I admit I started with an easier difficulty when i tried out this game because it is nothing I have played before its like Angry Birds and Mario mixed together but thats just a generalization there's a lot more with good amount of challenges, interesting mechanics and possibly some frustrations but this game gives you plenty of options which I will get into more later on. Graphics: I think it's one of the most gorgeous pixel graphics I have seen in games the art and the retro style animations. I think it's safe to say it one of the best looking platformers out there. Gameplay: Alright this is where I think game stands out the most forget I said about it being Mario because you don't jump on npcs to kill them you use your trusty owl instead. That's not all you must aim you can even do it mid air you have couple of seconds while you freeze take a shot before falling. You also have diefferent elements fire, ice, electric and normal each with their own properties. Music: Oh boy the music is great I think it fits the game perfectly. Sometimes I wish i could just listen to it alone it's just that good. Controls: I think this is where the game is a bit lacking and it makes up for it. For example me personally don't like the default controls I changed the key bindings I recommend you do it too especially if you find the aiming a bit annoying try enabling mouse controls or use a controller whatever you find comfortable. I use WASD for movement and spacebar for jump with mouse controls enabled. Difficulty: As I have mentioned I like hard games because it means that there is something for me to learn or improve on. I recommend starting with casual there's no shame in that once you improve you can change the difficulty later without starting an entire new save. The game is very replayable with revisitng levels both generated and handcrafted.

I am an old fan of the game Worms; for me, this is like a breath of fresh air. There aren't many good games in that particular genre, 2d plane tactical turned based. The closest that comes to mind is perhaps Angry Birds. At first, I wasn't a fan of the graphics; they are very mobile gameish, in my opinion, but with time they grew on me. The combat is similar to Worms; you pick a weapon, and you aim up and down, but during the mission, you can't change your loadout. It must be done prior, nor do you receive any weapons or items drops. Instead, you get new weapons and items after finishing your mission; in addition to that, there are plenty of hats to be found for you to stylize your characters with and level them up with new abilities. There are bars where you can also find more hats, weapons, abilities, and storage for your inventory, the main currency being, interestingly, water which, again, you receive at the end of each mission. I found this game to be a tad more tactical than Worms; your bullets do bounce around, so you can come up with fun trick shots; there are plenty of classes to choose from, each with its unique abilities and weapon preferences which you can experiment with. The maps are procedural most of them, I believe, so that adds a little variety, especially when replaying a mission. It makes things all the more interesting; there is stuff that can be blown up, for example, fuel barrels, and there are some things that can be useful for cover and certain platforms you can shoot through, etc. Although this is not related to the review, one more thing I like about this game is how lightweight it is for laptops. I mean, this is one of those games you can play for hours on battery power, depending on how long your laptop lasts on a single charge, of course.

First of all the game is not going to be everyone’s cup of tea since it’s very different from your typical RTS where you are required build structures instead you have burrows that spawn your infantry and you have farms to capture for resources and can setup defenses. At the same time you don't point and click when issuing an order instead you directly control a character that does but is un-enable to attack enemies. The game has story mode, an offline mode with splitscreen you will need to connect two controllers, with two online modes ranked and unranked. It is fun playing with AI although I would recommend playing with a friend. Once you have played some story missions to get the hang of the game start either skirmish with AI or online although I haven’t seen many lobbies did played a few games though. My only complaint was but I found a fix when offline the game crashes when trying to load leaderboards if you are not connected to the internet it will crash but offline skirmish still works. In order to fix this just log out of GOG Galaxy the game will run fine without the internet.

The game itself is like a journey you try to find means to collect coins, you expand your kingdom and try to survive. I have played previous kingdom game and this sequel brings a lot of new features to the table. Overall its a nice relaxing experience with a little amount of stress but nothing you can't manage. I would recommend to players who like strategy games but also looking for something to chill with I usually play with a controller in one hand and having a drink in the other.

For some it might be shallow but with traits, skills and items along with its 3 classes namely archers, swordmen, pikemen but with endless supplies of islands one can arguably have different experiences each run. The random generation of islands with different tactical landscape either completely flat, tiny hills or mountains surely adds variety when it comes to placement of your units and how much coverage you can give to a particular area especially if you have to choose couple of houses to defend over a few in the heat of the battles as because of the terrain each gives you a specific strategic advantage. Furthermore with a string of islands to choose from and what those islands have to offer either an army with a different class, trait or an item keeps it interesting you can have multiple saves for each run and with different diffculties. In the end however its a minimalist strategy game with roguelite elements easy to learn but hard to master but if you really like the graphics, the gameplay, the art and the music its worth a buy. I already have the game on Steam so I bought the deluxe edition on GOG, one other reason being DRM-free.
