Alan Wake

Good+; more of a Survival Thriller

While it does show it's age in the graphics department a little, it still looks quite good. The atmosphere is great, coupled with a very nice, if a bit predictable story. The combat, while serviceable can get stale later on. All in all Alan Wake is a really good game. While people looking for a survival horror will be disappointed, since it is not what they would have expected. I would definitely recommend checking out this game regardless.

Gothic

Good, but could have been PHENOMENAL

The strongest aspect of this game is by far it's overall atmosphere. The world design and layout are also pretty good... as for the rest... they are somewhere between "okay" to "pretty good". When put together they would have been enough to consider giving it "good" grade (aka 4⭐) with the atmosphere and vibes arguably pushing it towards 5... Unfortunately the flaws of Gothic are apparent. It could have been phenomenal, but it is merely good... and if the atmosphere and "vibes" of the game don't click for you, probably not even that. However as I do enjoy the overall atmosphere quite a lot, I'm giving Gothic a 4. It's too good for anything less... but even my personal bias can't make me stretch the grade beyond that... albeit I did strongly consider adding in a plus there... (I have a longer post on my blog, if you'd like to read through more of my thoughts on the game)

DOOM (2016)

Very Good minus;

Doom (2016) is a revival of good old days of shooters, when the guns were cool, and you had your whole arsenal on hand. When the movement and shooting was fast frantic and great. It looks good; It plays very good; It sounds very good. The physics and stability problems are an issue, however (even if they were most notable in Arcade Mode). As is the lack of multiplayer features in GOG version (aside from leaderboards). On the other hand, for me the meat of the experience was the campaign, and that one was phenomenal. For those reasons, I’m giving Doom 4 a 5– (and that minus is rather small). Regardless of the problems I’ve had, It’s a very good game I feel comfortable recommending. (Thus is a summary, you can see my full thoughts on my blog)
