Darksiders Warmastered Edition

What a great game

It's like a blend between Legend of Zelda and God of War (with a heavy influence from the latter), great action, i like the swordplay, and I love the fact you get the dash from the start, it is really enjoyable to dash around delivering blows with your weapons. The story is decent, the graphics are nice and the music gets you in the mood, but the combat is the jewel of the crown My biggest criticism is the controls, being a console port it could have been handled better, you have to press a combination of buttons (in my case mouse 5 +1) to use an item instead of selecting said item with a key(1-4) and using it with another (mouse 5), that made me pass almost all the skills, the only useful one was stoneskin, a life saver at least until I got the abyssal armor. Overall it took me some time to get used to the controls, fortunately the most important part (the hacking and slashing) doesn't suffer from it

Darkest Dungeon®

I cannot enjoy this game

I tried thrice to start a new game, but every time I get to week 3 and I think I got it my heroes wipe in a level 1 dungeon because a damn necromancer appears out of nowhere and I am undergeared and underleveled to deal with it if you fail a mission (aka wipe) you lose all your progress but the level of the area still goes up which means your fresh heroes will be underprepared no matter what. I liked the art style, I lke the premise, but the game is just too frustrating, in all honesty I cannot recommend it, in other games even if you die a lot if you practice enough you'll get it eventually, not here, it just punishes you for trying

Brutal Legend

I give up

I was having so much fun, until the final showdown with the girl, after blowing up the towers I can't even get close to her, she basically one shots me, I can't go on with this level of frustration, I'll just watch the rest of the game in youtube

Call of Juarez: Gunslinger

Pretty good

Better than its predecessors, it was great fun while it lasted and if you enjoy FPS this one is a must The good: - nice graphics and art style, they ditched the full rendered cutscenes for a more basic "graphic novell" novel style, I can't really complain - nice sound design and music - the gunplay is really good, and after you get some skill combinations you will only wish there were even more NPCs to shoot at - The story is no award-winning, but the narrative is very entertaining, with a feel of tall tale to the whole thing - The areas are more open than in BiB but not as big as in the original, it sits comfortably right in the middle, plus you're not pinned to an NPC like in BiB - Shooting a flying stick of dynamite was never this fun The bad/ugly: - The duels are a staple of the series, but were never my cup of tea, it hasn't changed for this entry - The campaign felt short, maybe is because I was having so much fun and wanted more - Regenerating health (a personal grudge of mine) - No saving options besides the checkpoint system, which means you can only have 1 playthrough at a time - reused asstes and level layouts make some missions pretty similar (coffeyville and forth smith look pretty much the same)

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood

A giant escort mission?

The first game was good, and this one has almost everything to be better, however, this feels like a giant escort quest, if you get more than 5 meters away from your brother the game will let you know with a giant sign and you will fail the mission if you don't "behave yourself", that detail alone ruins the game for me, I wanted to love this game, but all I can say is "it has potential" I had to quit at the 4th mission out of frustration

Crusader: No Regret™

More or the same but

Pretty much the same except they ramped up the difficulty and added the ability to roll forward and sidestep while crouched. Also I liked the 4 weapon system more, now I have to carry like 10 weapons and I mostly use 3 or 4 of them, there are more items, but half of them are as useless as they were before I was having fun until I got to that mission where you only have 15 minutes to complete it, which is the opposite of what the game has taught me so far since the controls are so bad that I cannot rush, usually a mission takes me 2 hours to complete because I like to explore while I struggle with the controls, so yeah, I couldn't finnish the game, such a shame

Crusader: No Remorse™

Biased opinion

Ok, there's a lot to unpack here, so let's begin with the big question, would I recommend this one? nope, BUT I loved it, it took me 35 hours in "loose canno" difficulty, I had to spam those saves to make it through, but I really enjoyed it from start to finish, specially when I "mastered" the controls Letr's start with the good - Lots of weapons to play around - Lots of hidden loot to get - The music is nice - Tactical combat forces you learn the enemies and exploit their weaknesses (AKA the not so bright AI) - Each mission took me around 3 hours to complete, I wasn't expecting it to be so long - There are a lot of objects to destroy, even most of the doors can be blown open The bad - The controls are terrible, they are tank controls but somehow feel stiffer than they should, , ctrl,. alt and shift modify your movement, you can run, sidestep crouch and side roll but not roll forward or backwards, and somehow pressing control forward makes you jump (or you can use tab). the game uses what I think is a grid to determine your movbement, but sometimes it doesn't work quite well when you are trying to move diagonally and you can ruin your tactical approach. At the end the controls are gonna be your biggest threat, and forget about using your mouse to rotate your character, it's a nightmare - The graphics are old, I compare then to the original fallout, which can be an issue for a lot of people - The 2 last missions are hard, you'll encounter enemies with grenade launchers and lots of mechs with rocket launchers, at one point I entered a room with 3 mechs and was like "fuck it, let's run for it" which surprisinly worked (actually this could be a positive point, it made me think outside the box) - No description of your weapons or items in the game or manual, I don't know what's the use of the inhibitor - The game will take cheap shots at you, spawning enemies behind you If you are gonna play it, try first on easy mode while you get used to the controls

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth

2.5 a hard sell

well, I tried to like this game, in fact I made it quite far into it (up to devil's reef) but after having to llook up the answer to a "puzzle" yet again I felt like this game is just too frustrating, I got better things to play The good - Cthulhu Mythos - Interesting story (unfortunattely not interesting enough to make me push through) - Some sequences are tense and scary, great for this kind of game The bad - The graphics have not aged well, fortunately most characters are supposed to be ugly as hell - The stealth is badly implemenmted, and the sound desing is not optimized to help you in this regard (yes, I compare every game with stealth mechanics to Thief TDP and Thief 2) - The combat is clumsy, which is well and good when you are supposed to sneak around, not so much when you are forced to fight - The "puzzles" some times are obscure and very frustrating, like that time there was a timed puzzle but there was no way to know it until it was too late The ugly - The voice acting is hit and miss, Jack tries to be slick and badass, but most of the time he sounds monotonous, like that time **** died and I screamed "noo!!!" and Jack was like "ok, let's move on" Overall, I can't really recommend it unless you want to experience everything that has been said and done about the mythology is based on

Call of Juarez

More like a 3.5 - Don't play it on hard

After 14 hopurs I finally beat it, honestly I expected it to be shorter and for the most part I had fun The good: 1. Ray`s voice actor. Ray may be nuts, but sometimes he's so passionate, I love it 2. The bow, basically a 1 shot kill weapon, once I got it I never used another weapon with Billy 3. A lenghty campaign 4. The graphics are nice for its time 5. Y'll never run out of ammo 6. The last mission was great, a wholesome bulletstorm, too bad I couldn't try it on hard, but I died a couple of times on normal, so it's ok The bad: 1. Some maps feel unneccesarily big, like in the rabbit hunting mission 2. The stealth mechanics are vague and can take a while to get used to 3. I couldn't get past the part where you have to run out of town in hard mode and had to restart the game in normal 4. The very last sequence of the game is a duel, but the game itself doesn't make it clear so I had to google the answer to what I thought was a bug 5. It's filled with little sequences where it is easy to fail and you require a lot of trial and error, but it's not too bad, except when there's an unskippable cutscene right before said sequences Overall a good game, despite its flaws I still recommend it

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

Kicking ass and taking loot

This game i s so much fun, I don't know where to start to praise it, and honestly I thjink otehrs have nmade it better than I could, but I want to add my recommendation to the pool, this game took castlevania and pumped it up to a next level, expect heavy grindiong if you want to craft or powerup your spells, but there are some spells that turn you into a deathstorm, and the different weapons keep the gameplay fresh, being the boots my favorite (I love kicking things), the graphics and music are nice too, I am 25 hours in and I don't see the end of it, but that's a good thing.
