The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition

Grippingly Clunky Epic

Arguably the penultimate realisation of the Open World concept to date, beaten only narrowly by the same developer in the form of Cyperpunk 2077. Twitcher 3's main cast, the characters first developed in the novel series, are pretty consistently written better than they were in the book, and brought to life by an incredibly talented cast of voice actors. But more than that, the game has an extensive cast of minor characters, who're largely excellently written and voiced. Many examples spring readily to mind, but to name just one, the Red Baron is a masterclass example of what happens when heroes grow old. These are the reasons you should play this game. And you really should play this game. It is one of the most gripping gaming experiences you can have, and will likely remain so for years to come. Of course all this greatness is badly marred by the fact that the player character animations and combat are a 20ft tall dumpsterfire. Without having looked I foresee zero chance that mods can possibly fix this utter trainwreck, but you should absolutely take a hard look at what's out there, because they may at least make it slightly less terrible. But - and this is coming from a guy who game up playing Assassin's Creed games because the player animations and combat was so bad it was only about 10 times better than this game's - you should still play this. This review is from my first couple of hours into my second playthrough of Twitcher 3. That's how much you should play this.
